The important part about Becoming is not necessarily the facts you learn about Michelle Obama, but seeing her in action.

Mostly, Becoming is a collection of “feels,” hugs and tears with fans, students and family, and big promotional moments that director Nadia Hallgren wisely never allows to come off as a “victory lap.” Entering stadiums to the gushing introductions of the likes of Oprah, played in by Alicia Keys’ anthem “This Girl is on Fire,” could easily have led this unapologetic hagiography to that.

The movie presents moments of the former First Lady's life, Michelle Obama. It begins when she starts a new phase in her life, after living in the White House, trying to find herself again in a remarkable life in transition, also sharing with others, in the book and film, her intimate, fun, and difficult moments she lived during her life, showing how important was for young ladies see her representing them in a very important position.
After she went through prejudiced situations in life as a young woman to get a good education at Harvard and a job, Michelle met Barack Obama and they started a life together. The story tells about the moments they struggled during their marriage after having their daughters, and the eight years they served the US country in the White House.
In the film, it's possible to see behind the scenes of her 34-city tour book release, when she gets close to the community and they honestly share their own stories of life, with a healthy dose of motivational messaging about education in personal narratives.
When people reach success most of them change. Michelle after all apparently didn't, she kept her old friends and family even closer, always trying to be humble. Watching the movie and reading her book could make you feel wanting to make the world a better place to live, to inspire people and, to help others to see their potential.

Some would call this picture flattering — not unflattering, anyway — though it strikes me as a believable picture of a person who doesn’t need flattery, either to look good or to feel good about herself.

Director Nadia Hallgren’s Becoming gives us a good impression of hanging out with the First Lady without really getting us past the surface, although we get some sense of her drive.

There’s no way to experience Becoming apolitically, not now. You don’t have to consider it first-rate documentary filmmaking of any sort to feel something watching it.

While the film’s star and subject is never less than dazzling, even her most inspiring moments can’t obscure a paper-thin exploration of a remarkable life in transition.

Great to see a movie from the lens of the first lady. I walk away from this movie thinking how much people around us change when we reach success. Michelle didn't change it was the Americans around her that really changed the most. I also leave this movie ready to make the world better, to inspire and help others to see their potential. This was a feel good movie. I loved it and have a new love for Michelle Obama and the character and integrity she holds. At times this movie can be a little bit slow with pacing, but never to the point where it is excessively slow, it's a beautiful film.

An abundance of grace & realness. We see a WOMAN, a wife, a mother, a leader who inspires the world through all of these roles. Thank you Michelle Obama.

She comes across as patronizing and self-centered. And all those gyrating around her, those naïve morons treating her as a saintly figure.
You can almost see it in her eyes, muttering to herself these exact same thoughts. PS: I am not a Trump supporter. At all.
