Arlington Road belongs to that splendid Hollywood tradition of dealing with serious, timely issues in the form of a suspense thriller.

Despite its flaws, Arlington Road romps home as an absorbing, unpredictable thriller.

Stylish thriller follows a middle aged history professor who stumbles across a terrorist cell only to become a pasty for their bombing incident. Its a tense watch with a compelling performance from bridges and co. It chooses to lean into its pulpy over-the-top-ness than linger on too many of the details. To make a more realistic interpretation would result in a very different experience. Fascinating to see a movie brave enough to let the plot reach its conclusion! There's a great amount of depth squeezed into the 1hr 53 mins runtime.

Although it takes something of a slog to get there, this thriller finally comes through where it counts.

Before it finally twists itself into a pretzel in the third act, this paranoid thriller creates a scary mood and allows its leading actors to go all the way with it.

Even before the film has worked up a head of steam, it has started to pile up the improbabilities, giving us reason to question its credibility.
50
A conspiracy thriller that begins well and makes good points, but it flies off the rails in the last 30 minutes.

This masterpiece started out at around three stars, but after the credits, it just got sillier and more lurid.

Tim Robbins and Jeff Bridges address homegrown terrorism and the very fibers of manipulation as a pair of wary, suspicious suburban neighbors. Robbins is terrific as the shady new guy who wears his emotions close to the vest, pairing a wicked, piercing gaze with an ambiguous, noncommittal temperament. Bridges, the viewer's perspective and proposed voice of reason, is much less fascinating; a vanilla conspiracy theorist with a short fuse, it's tough to find sympathy for his obsessive investigations of the new acquaintance, even when they start bearing fruit. The film's musings on terrorism in a pre-9/11 America are interesting food for thought, particularly in that they seem to be challenging many of the knee-jerk reactions that would eventually plague the country. A bold, memorable finale somewhat redeems the plot, which is quite predictable up to that point.

Very well acted movie. It make me wonder about my neighbors and what they do in their spare time.

Smart and sometimes over the top thriller, with great actors like Jeff Bridges and Tim Robbins. It's a wise story. Jeff Bridges is like always fantastic and Tim Robbins is giving one of his best
