Arizona bathes its absurdist satire in the bleakest humor and takes a sober glance at the consequences of America’s worst modern economic calamity.

The potential of this movie’s premise might have been squandered by cliches, but McBride and DeWitt keep it watchable.

First-time director Jonathan Watson crafts a film that’s neither funny nor exciting, although it often seems to be straining to be one or the other. It’s a tonal mess and its inconsistencies make it a frustrating viewing experience.

Despite its brief runtime, the film runs out of steam well before its climax.

Arizona might have worked better as a smart-ass social commentary if its tsk-tsking of consumerist myopia wasn't so consistently on the nose and its plot didn't swiftly devolve into slasher movie cliches.

the film, set in 2009, misses its comic target by a mile, resulting in a dumbfounding collision of unsympathetic characters always choosing the most moronic thing to do in any given situation.

As the movie wears on, one suspects that the writer Luke Del Tredici and the director Jonathan Watson aren’t crafting an indictment of toxic masculinity, but an invitation to take some sadistic enjoyment in it, without consequences.

Created an account to write this review. Feel like some cheap shots taken by critics and users alike. Some missing the point of using comedic talent in a pitch black horror comedy. Was an amazing first feature by this writer/director team, clearly aiming for Fargo vibes, which is a very tall order, but I could see the same DNA. Great work, and always rewatch the scene in Birdman about critics before they get in your head.

The cast does a phenomenal job and really lifts this movie above and beyond what it would have been otherwise. It kind of falls apart in the final 1/3 of the movie and the pacing comes to a grinding halt as well. I wish it was 10 minutes shorter to kind of quicken things up because I feel like the longer the movie goes on, The staler it becomes.

This film was a bit of a mess. There are a number of great comedic actors, and a writer and director with comedic experience, **** some reason they tried to make the film "scary", so the tone was just off, through-out the whole film. It wasn't really that funny, thus wasting the comedic actors talents, **** not really that scary **** is not the right group of actors for "scary" material. This movie should have been either a more improvised silly comedy (if they couldn't write enough jokes..) or...a completely different casted more serious film. It did not work trying to do both, and ends up being "nothing" essentially. I got bored after about 15 minutes, and it didn't seem to get much better as I let it play despite barely being able to watch it.

I love DB but this movie made me sad. Too much violence for me. Huge fan of EB&D but this just wasn’t my bag.

A failed comedy that wanted far better material than the writer (Luke Del Tredici) could manage, or that the director (Jonathan Watson) could inject. The end result is amateurish at best, and downright clumsy at worst.
