Unlike Hannah, this movie has a great relationship with its appendage—it knows when to use it for gross-out body horror humor or a bit of drama that cuts to the core.

All in all, however, Appendage moves quickly enough that its thinner spots become forgivable after the payoff of its final twist. Beyond the monster design, the film’s greatest feat is the comedy it derives from what could be a dour subject.

Zlokovic’s film misses the point of celebratory tongue-in-cheek referentialism, not to the point where the horror cinema gods will force reassessment of The Babadook’s status as a contemporary classic, but enough to cheapen everything of merit about Appendage.

Appendage is a solid outing by Zlokovic, and the horror elements complement the story’s message about self-doubt, even if it doesn’t push the envelope any more than it has to.

The pitch doesn't make it justice, the horror story is more a Body Snatchers lite, the appendage being an evil clone feeding off the host. Unfortunately it's minimalistically exploited, half the movie building a sort of allegory about mental illness. Which is also poorly done, since it looks more like a drug abuse induced psychosis than an actual mental illness, there are too many differents elements thrown in . I wish sometimes showbiz peeps be more.. educated. Watchable still

A body horror – B movie. You’ll know within the first 15 minutes if you’ll enjoy or dislike this film. A woman basically discovers a growth that forms a face and starts verbally abusing her, It’s all been done before, I guess it’s just a more modern retelling. Personally I thought it was rubbish and trust me when I say you should follow your instinct and turn off if you’re not enjoying it as it won’t get better.
