Unfortunately for Atari, Personal Trainer blows this game out of the kitchen with a more diverse selection of meals and a stellar presentation.

What's Cooking? could have been the next Cooking Mama. But instead of going for video-game supremacy, it took a different route and became an interactive cookbook. If that's what people want from this game, it might just work.

What's Cooking? Jamie Oliver is an admirable effort but it doesn't go far enough beyond regular cookbooks to make it worth it.

Probably nostalgia bias, but I can still pop this game up and make some awful looking concoctions and have a blast. Not a detailed game and can be classed as shovelware (and let’s face it, probably is) but I still have a good time on this game in 2026.

Some great recipes but the experience is marred by fiddly cooking games. [Christmas 2008, p.87]

Basically What's Cooking? With Jamie ****ing Oliver is great if you're after an interactive cookbook. There's an extensive selection of excellent recipes, the instructions are easy to follow, the step-by-step system works well and the shopping list feature is useful. If you're after an actual ****ing game, though, **** this ****. Jamie should have put his *******s on and ripped off an existing classic, like me.

The actual gaming portion of this package is painfully unintuitive and fails to deliver any sort of experience of lasting worth. A food analogy properly sums it up. Pizza, salad, and cake are all good on their own, but haphazardly mash the three together results in an unpalatable mess. Sadly, such is the case with What’s Cooking.

With little to offer beyond the conventional cookbook What's Cooking? Jamie Oliver doesn't bring anything new to the dinner table.

SummaryWhat's Cooking? Jamie Oliver is a fun and interactive cooking game featuring a whole book's worth of Jamie's fantastic recipes, each accompanied by David Loftus' beautiful photography. Follow the recipes in one of the virtual kitchens, or with real ingredients in your own home. A voice-recognition feature means your hands are free to con... Read More
