When you combine a hack’n’slash style with a decent story you end up having a really enjoyable time with that said game, and thankfully for the most part that is what The Story Goes On offers you most of the time. You will however notice a few **** problems every now and then, but without a doubt it gets more right than it gets wrong. The gameplay on the whole is a very interesting affair and the best thing is that it provides you with quite a few surprises throughout your playthrough. Those of you that are looking for a challenge though will not find much of one here because when you get too powerful it becomes too easy and this definitely makes things a little boring. Something the game gets perfect in my opinion is the random generation. Nothing ever stays the same in the game and whilst this may be frustrating for some I actually found it to be quite exciting and in a way it gives the game some much needed replayability. It needs this replayability because unfortunately the game is lacking in terms of content and on the whole there just isn’t enough modes for you to sink your teeth into. Without a doubt my favourite thing about The Story Goes On were the bosses. Each boss was very fun too tackle and the main reason why they were fun is because each boss has their own little quirks packed full of variety and you can definitely tell that a lot of thought and effort has gone in here. Unfortunately the other enemies you face aren’t blessed with the same design and they ultimately become repetetive because they just feel bland and lack somewhat in terms of the variety that’s present in them. The presentation side of the game is simple, but it’s something that I liked quite a lot. Visually the game has a lovely storybook look to it and in my opinion this gives the game an abundance of charm. The sound design is also simple but very effective and the music sets the scene brilliantly, which is great. At the end of the day The Story Goes On impressed me in a way and that was mainly because it had a few interesting and in some ways unique ideas dotted throughout the game. Don’t get me wrong there are better games in the genre out there and at times its problems do become evident, but when it’s all said and done it does enough to warrant a recommendation from me and fans of the hack’n’slash style will find quite a bit to enjoy here.
