This game blew me away. I have never played a visual novel, but now I want more. Every single choice is meaningful, often having rippling effects that you could not anticipate. I was constantly kept on my toes, having to truly think about my choices. Very few video games achieve this, but The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante absolutely knock it out of the park in this regard.

The writing is fantastic. Unlike some titles, the writing paints a beautiful picture of the world without droning on and on. Each event is sufficiently described with good detail but never overstays its welcome. For the whole fifteen hours! For this reason, the pacing makes for an addicting experience. Not only is it tight and succinct, but the characters come to life with each dynamic interaction. Everyone has a distinct voice, the world is appropriately harrowing and, as Sir Brante does, players learn how the world works as we become more exposed to it.

If you are in a search for something completely different, a game that looks back to the age of "choose you own adventure" books, the well written and masterfully crafted story of The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is a perfect fit for you.

Those lusting after a well-written visual novel with drab visuals and little ability to alter its outcome might enjoy The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante. As for me, although my opinion was initially favorable, my mood soured after wasting hours of playtime due to a minor choice that had no connection to the overarching plot. It’s still recommended to visual novel fans, but cautiously so.

Крутая конечно игра, но лично мне всё зауринила система очков, мне всю игру не хватало по 1 очку до какого-либо варианта ответа, при том что не хватало очков в статах которые у меня больше всего вкачены)) Вообщем печально, игра меня душила последние 3 часа конца, жаль.

игра очень понравилась атмосферой, задумкой, музыкой, текст хороший, сюжет, но очень много моментов где тупо выбор без выбора и много нелогичных моментов, но опять таки, игра хорошая, рекомендую всем

A good story and interesting setting wasted on a bare bones visual novel that has no voice acting and only basic animations, if you just want to read a fiction book, good for you. If you play with the consequences hidden you will reach true death or be locked out of most options to an inevitable disappointing end without knowing why or how you could have changed that, otherwise, with the consequences at display, you will do things just to max your stats because you have to go the extremes to not be locked out of options.

This is a visual novel paired with a constant game of russian roulette, masking as choices and even touting a full blown skill system that does essentially nothing. In the end of the day you get to read a passable story with decent presentation- if you are lucky and don't die prematurely, but don't think too long about your path or how to manage your skills. More than once I was reminded of early 80's text adventures where gameplay went along the lines of "go west - you get eaten by a monster and die, GAME OVER", only with a lot more useless foreplay. The "game" will mercilessly railroad you because doing meaningful choices and having actual different outcomes in a story is hard. Lying about game mechanics in a trailer and having a blast with your 20 $ is a lot easier.
