For a ten year old game, nothing about Tales of Vesperia feels like it doesn't belong today. The Tales series might be one of the most traditional JRPG properties out there, but when the core is this good, innovation isn't needed.

Honestly this game cemented the idea that Tales of is the third pillar of JRPGness with the likes of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. What Dragon Quest does with fundamentals, and Final Fantasy does with music and atmosphere, Tales of does with it's characters development and interactions!

В свое время брал ради нее 360. Сейчас прошел на современных консолях. Одна из лучших частей серии. Фанам JRPG обязательно!!!

Shades and polygonal models will also feel the weight of the years, but the anime-style graphic compartment and the presence of the original dubbing make it a must for any JRPG admirer.

For all the missed opportunities, Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition perfectly catches the spirit of the series. Its biggest achievement is that it puts a great cast of characters front and center without compromising the JRPG-centric narrative style. Although it does little to refine the Tales formula, Vesperia is clearly a must-play for any JRPG fan, if not for the rather uninspired and predictable story, but for the characterization, great voice acting and more often than not hilarious conversations.

Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition is a good re-edition, with a small amount of bonus content. In 2019, the game is still pretty enjoyable.

Graphically this remaster definitely holds up to contemporary games and the option to choose between English or Japanese language is very welcome. The story is good and you’ll be entertained for days but be aware that the controls are pretty sluggish which will cause some frustration.

I think this game deserves a 7'5. Not a bad game but nothing special either. In my opinion most of the Tales games are average games and this is one more of them. As always, voices are good but I miss more dramatic/emotional/touching moments in this story. In the first half of the game it's impossible to get lost but in the second part it can be tricky to know where to go with so many places and the map is not very helpful. Also, read the synopsis in the menu when you don't know where to go. Combats are good but repetitve. By the end of the game I was spending "light bottles" just to skip the combats because they started to be quite anoying. You can find this items or buy them. Also, before going to Tarqaron buy as many items as you can to use them in the final battle. Also, don't forget to improve your weapons in the shops and unlock the "titles" of your characters if you want to change their outfits. About the optional dialogues, just watch them when you feel to. Don't worry, as in all the Tales games they don't provide any useful information and they're totally skippable, so don't be sorry. In my opinion, there should be less characters and the game should be shorter or have more interesting moments. I'd recommend this game to rpgs ang anime fans. It took me a little more of 36 hours because I went straight to the main story. In my opinion it's better than Berseria although my favorite is still Tales of Graces F (and I played several Tales of).

Played on PS5 Completed : Sept 26, 2021 Playtime : 46hrs This is my first tales game experience. surprisingly and unexpectedly i love and enjoy the game overall. It is a nostalgia feeling-good experience with the elements i most love in an RPG particularly in a final fantasy classic. It has the same formula but with its own authenticity. The strength of the game is the character development and its dialogue it is one (if not) the best. But after Arc II there is a little bit drag until the end. The plot and storyline is not perfect but fairly good. What i dont like about this game is its battle system for 3 major factor (1) it is clunky, inconsistent, and feels outdated (2) limited skill progression with underwhelming and confusing special moves. Although the graphics is outdated, it looks good and age well. I am excited to play my next tales game. Character development/dialogue 9/10 Graphics 8/10 Gameplay 6/10 Battle system 6/10 Story / narrative - 8/10 Progression - 7/10

Enjoyed the combat system and storytelling a lot, all other gameplay mechanics and sidequests, too. A very well done classic JRPG. -3 points for the End-User License Agreement or whatever it was when starting the game.

Story is boring, villains are horrible and, besides Yuri/Judith/Raven/Flynn, the cast is a bunch of annoying useless kids. And a dog. Huge downgrade in comparison to Abyss, Berseria, Symphonia, Destiny R, Graces, Xillia/Xillia 2 etc.
