An amazing story, and incredible soundtrack, and a sense of fear/isolation/weakneess that is so emmersive, but also extremely terryfing. Silent hill F is a breathe of fresh air for the franchise. Its a great mix about horror and culture, in wich we explore the depts of hinako's mind while we find out the story of the town itself. In resume, this game is a great horror game, with a piercing and frightening combat, an amazing soundtrack (by akira yamaoka ) and a deeply ambiguous history written by ryukishi07. This game is distant from the recipe often applied in the Sh franchise, but it makes it so unique and relevant!

A remarkable, nuanced, personal coming-of-age horror story, with a cultural divide that makes it a little hard to follow from a modern Western perspective. The combat is pretty decent, but expanded greatly with the addition of Omamori's, that add some depth. Even with max capacity, it's still hard juggling items. The graphics look great, the sound design is stellar, and the multiple endings explore what Hinako's options really are. Everything ties back to the central theme of oppression and gender roles, from enemies to puzzles to documents to random acts of world-building everywhere. It's remarkable. I've been trying hard from the start to understand what Hinako, her friends, and family are thinking.

Amazing game, it maybe differs in setting from the previous one, but the atmosphere is intact.

Silent Hill f was masterful in its story telling but a bit clunky when it came to combat. The game looks and plays fantastic on PS5 Pro and has a plethora of great cinematics and environments to traverse through. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in this entry but what kept it from being a game of the year contender was just the stiff combat, everything else in this game was very well done.

Bad combat mechanics saved by a perfect storytellling. Need to play more than one time to really understand the story though and with this mechanics I dont know its playable for more than one time. Just watched all the endings and story parts in Youtube and played the game one time and i was satisfied.

I was generally more annoyed than I was scared. Way too combat heavy and the puzzles got old and repetitive fast. The stuff with the beast was significantly more interesting.. but you have to sit through 10 ours of a meh story to get to it. Disappointing.

Underwhelming combat, story is quite dumb, the characters are not very interesting and the location is in japan, which is not related to silent hill in any way.

Strong art and presentation fail to cover for the abysmal combat and confused narrative. SHF is a game that wants to talk about strong themes and if the warning message on starting the game doesn’t make those themes crystal clear, the in-game journal and obvious telegraphing at the very outset will let you know. Instead of discussing these themes however, the game prefers to obfuscate what exactly is occurring or burying them with an obscene amount of combat. Previous Silent Hill games have dealt with this in nuanced ways with more finesse. Instead SHF chunks up its narrative with very jarring transitions between the ‘real world’ and the ‘dark altar’ world. While SH2 does this with its rusty ‘other world’, it keeps the same pace and game design throughout, signalling that this is the same character in a more dangerous environment. SHf ‘other world’, instead, seems to bring the story to a screaming halt every hour for heavy combat heavy segments in decidedly mundane environments. This frustration becomes more pronounced when it becomes clear that it is actually competing with the real world narratively and not just mechanically. Plot points set up firmly in Act 1 are dropped entirely by Act 2, leaving you waiting for their resolution that seems to be forgotten. As it leans more into fantastical elements, the contrast only expands. In the end, neither storyline ends satisfactorily, the after credits suggesting that the entire events are drive by a game play mechanic that has not been flagged barring a couple of notes. Does not using the mechanic provide a different ending? No, but you can try in your new game+ or even new game++ as these are mandatory to see the other endings. Besides very minor differences, these play throughs are exactly the same. What do these endings provide? More obfuscation as to whether these events are due to our character, their mind or something else entirely. This would be pardoned in a single telling of the story. On repetition, it feels the game is being deceitful for no other reason than to make you replay the game, rather than leaving it to interpretation. The combat is the other element the drags down the experience. Combat lacks impact and is repetitive. A stamina, parry, dodge and ‘focus’ system has drawn comments that this feels more like a cheaper Dark Souls clone than Silent Hill and in the more aggravating moments, this definitely feels true. Frustrating pauses between character actions, sluggish responsiveness and a ruthlessly short stamina bar fight you at every turn. These compounds by the sheer amount of enemies that game throws at you, sometimes even locking your progress until ‘arenas’ are cleared of large groups. The lack of enemy variety, and how some act as pure damage sponges, further tarnish the experience. I could go further: into the frustrating inventory system; the bi-polar difficulty settings; the non-interactive environments; the ‘hit-stop’ combat pauses; and others. Then most damning complaint however is that it is not scary. Any atmosphere is drained by the constant trips to the ‘dark altar’ and repetitive slog of combat. There are no real scares, or even a sense of dread besides the thought that I had to play this game more than once. I’ve heard rumours that this was not originally a Silent Hill title, that it was bought and the name added afterwards. I would not be surprised. Everything the game does is very deliberate, there is no feeling of anything being rushed or improvised. It’s just a shame that it created something so disappointing.

This is one of those games that couldve been amazing but just isnt great. the biggest problem with the game is the gameplay itself, its so slow and bad. the graphics and cutscenes are cool i guess but thats it.

It’s a beautiful story. Probably one of the strongest ones that we’ve had in recent years. Silent Hill F contains a lot of cultural and traditional elements and the game really wins because of it. Replayability is also on point, since the game has 5 endings, and it ACTUALLY DELIVERS in terms of adding more layers to the whole story of Hinako and characters around her. Though I should mention that the 1st playthrough left me shocked the most. Game design is stunning, from the OST of a franchise legend Akira Yamaoka to the art of the city of Ebisugoaka, from the gory stuff to the lighting of the boss arenas - everything is a top notch! The only downside is (you guessed it) - fighting mechanics. At times it felt really uncomfortable. But considering that the rest of the game was executed astonishingly good, you can give it a rest and make it through even like that. So in the end I would definitely recommend it to everyone who is in love with horror genre in general. And especially to those who look heavy psychological plots to discover. I am sure it won’t disappoint! My strongest 9 out of 10

A SH game set in Japan with Japanese folklore and atmosphere could have been sooooooooo good. Too bad this is an arcadish Devil May Cry-type action game with shades of Souls that has nothing to do with SH whatsoever. The writing and atmosphere also doesn't live up to the franchise, despite what paid shills and some tourists seem to think. The title was false advertising and Konami should be embarassed.

Silent Hill f definitely exceeded my expectations and solidified itself to be a worthy contender in this franchise. Everything about this game is oozing with atmosphere as one would come to expect and can be genuinely creepy at times. The big downside is I was while I didn’t mind the combat, I did find it very frustrating when the game would just throw hordes of enemies at you especially toward the end of the game. Other than that Silent Hill f is already a classic

Absolutely beautiful game, the music is incredible and the depiction of women is phenomenal and makes us feel so heard. I don't get the complaints for the combat, it wasnt anything too new but nor was it bad. The enemies were just **** incredible, but the story is where it sells. You notice so much more on a second play through, its truly incredibly put together my only complaint is that the ending is slightly abrupt. I want to thank the studios for making this, I felt so heard.

Maybe this game would better if it wasn't called Silent Hill and had most of the combat removed. Seriously, this is NOT a Silent Hill game at all. It's an unsubtle, over the top action game with shades of Souls, shonen anime, and hack & slash games like God of War that spells out its "symbolism" with a tone that's undeniably incompatible with the series. It has none of the identity markers or DNA of Silent Hill game, and random dudes "fAcInG tHeIr tRaUmA" in fog doesn't make something Silent Hill. This spin-off wasn't made for Silent Hill fans, it was made for pretentious larpers who only know of the franchise from watching Youtube videos and TikTok shorts about "WHAT IF THE JOKER WENT TO SILENT HILL." They don't want new Silent Hill games as much as they want every indie game that claims to be "Silent Hill-inspired" but with a brand name slapped on to obsess over.

Silent Hill is back in this new adventure set in Japan, made of mysticism, Horror, suspense and terror. What happened? Really, really beatiful The only flaw, probably, is the combat system, too clunky.

For me, the overall rating would be 7.5! I appreciated how Konami certainly wanted to experiment with Silent Hill in Japan. I disagree with those who make pointless and obvious arguments saying it's not comparable to the old French titles, because it's obvious that it will never be like that. However, it can't be denied that the gameplay is quite fragile due to its combat system, but you have to appreciate the Japanese setting! in this dreamlike city... only negative cons... - longevity - not allowing entry into houses... or rather buildings, would have had more fascinating stages... - more exploration... in the town... - lack of character development Positive Pros: - stunning graphics - beautifully written lore - such fascinating settings an almost successful experiment... realistically, but one that I appreciated!

I have nothing but good memories of this game, Like the dead ends put in every corner of the map (Thank you Jerry you deserve a raise) the bushes made out of concrete, the puddles that could stop a tank and many other conventional invisible barriers. The movement that inspires me to jump off a cliff, the combat that took everything horroristic and turned it into japanese girl souls like, a storyline even more confusing than any other, random japanese cultural stuff so we look legit, and a not that unsettling atmosphere. I gotta give it to them the graphics were good, but regardless this felt like a MOBILE GAME compared to the other game.

"Did we seriously buy a next-gen console for $500 just to stare at PlayStation 2-level blurry mush? The developers completely put optimization on the back burner! In 60 FPS mode, the screen is nothing but pixels and jagged edges, everything is smeared by AI upscaling, and in motion, the game looks like a blast from 2004. Textures pop in right in front of your face, and you can't see anything through the fog due to all the upscaling noise. This is a total disgrace and pure disrespect to the audience. Do not waste your money on this half-baked piece of trash!"

I really love the story and characters in this game the setting is beautiful and creepy at the same time. The only major downside is the combat i really did not enjoy the combat mechanics in this game it was slow and boring just poor designs but i was able to get past that with the story it really manages to **** you in and keeps you thinking and leaves and a not so nice end silent hill games always manage to play the messed up and sad storyline really well

Silent Hill f is a bold departure for the franchise, but unfortunately, it fails to live up to the standard set by its predecessors. While it attempts to explore new territory, the game feels like a separate project hiding under a beloved name. The story of Hinako touches on genuine Japanese social issues faced by women of that era, which is compelling in its own right. However, tying this narrative to the Silent Hill mythos feels forced and ultimately unsuccessful. The psychological aspects are present but lack the depth required to make the horror feel earned. While the side characters offer glimpses of interesting suffering, the climax and conclusion are neither confusing nor satisfying—they simply fail to land. The shift in the "Otherworld" from the traditional rusty, bloody aesthetic to a clean, shrine-like worshipping space is a unique creative choice, but it does the game no favors. The environment rarely feels hostile, and the lack of enemy variety creates a sense of repetition. While a few boss designs are genuinely intimidating, they feel like highlights in an otherwise uninspired world. The game feels like it is "pushing" too hard to be different without maintaining the core pillars of the franchise. It is a competent title in some respects, but it lacks the atmospheric dread and mechanical soul of a true Silent Hill experience. Using the franchise name feels less like an evolution and more like a mask for a game that belongs in a different series entirely.

I tried getting into it but it just fell flat for me. The gameplay is clunky, the world is not really scary, no tension build up... and the dialogue and delivery is painfully cheesy.

This was the first Silent Hill game I finished, mainly because it stopped being scary after like 2-3 hours into it, if you enjoy the oppressive atmosphere of 2 this probably won't be it, if you found 2 too unsettling, give this one a try! I will say I enjoyed the story and the fact that you can guess a lot of it if you pay attention to detail. I did however not enjoy it enough to replay the game 3-4 times though so I just watched the different endings on YouTube after

This is my runner up for favorite silent hill, I was very excited and it didn't disappoint. The combat is refreshing and you can really feel the weight in every hit. The story is as bananas as watching dark while on cough syrup. Which is the most silent hill-ass silent hill thing ever.Only negative traits:*Lots of trypophobia triggering crap everywhere.*The last stretch of the game is so hard It made me rage quit and uninstall it for 3 days before I came back to finish it. I'm sure it get's better on New Game + with all the upgrades.

Don't believe the hype. SHf is neither a fresh take on the franchise nor some interesting or artistic "experimental" game that takes the franchise in a new direction. It's another formulaic sequel in the vain of Downpour that happens to include an anime tone and action mechanics that don't the series for purely commercial reasons. It's highly unlikely 99% of these pretentious comments about how "innovative" F is have actually played any of the games besides SH2 Remake.

Very repetitive gameplay and unsatisfying conclusion, the combat isn’t particularly fun, there are no guns or projectiles, the setting is cool but the locations are very repetitive and there’s a lot of backtracking in the game so that makes it even more same-y. The ending is abrupt and anti climactic (while also being somewhat predictable imo) and the game wants you to replay it multiple times just to get more minor pieces of contextual information to flesh it out. I bought this for $35 and felt short changed. I’d say skip this or get it when it’s like $10 if you’re really curious. I’ve only played Silent Hill 2, 3 & 4 before but I was much more satisfied with those games. Also, this one isn’t scary at all. Yes, it has cool visuals, but it’s very superficial, the game world doesn’t feel very interactive, you’re just sprinting through mostly linear areas beating the same monster with a baseball bat or crowbar over and over and over again.

A ambientação é absurda.

This is not silent hill. Gameplay is crap, story is bad, characters are non-charismatic, nothing was fun, nothing was horrific. On top of it, game try to do a twist you see coming 5hours before it happens.

How does this game have 86 critic score? The combat **** hard, the exploration isn't fun because you can't pick up 90 percent of the items anyways due to limited inventory space. Upgrade system is annoying and doesn't feel powerful. The course of the story is stupid. The puzzles are mostly not good. There are some cool monsters and atmospheric aspects as well as the music but overall this game is not good and not fun to play.

I finished all Silent Hill games. I know everything about it. I played the old ones and remakes. I loved every single one. Silent Hill F is just horrible! It makes me extremely sad... The story is weak. Characters are adding nothing! Hinako does not convey any feelings to the player. The scenery is gorgeous but the enemies and characters are so badly designed that it doesn't make you feel anything! It's just a boring empty game with probably the worst game mechanics I've ever seen in my 20 years of playing games (horrible inventory, unnecessary amount of different consumables, weird bs upgrades, and oh my god the combat system is so garbage). I am just so god damn sad. I never review anything. But this just made me feel so bad I had to do it...

I come to Silent Hill for a supernatural mindjob. Visually the game is that, but getting to the end and reading up about the other four endings? It's so not any of that story wise. The combat and core gameplay is basic and repetitive. I would of preferred a shorter game due to that and I never ever what to reply this game, because it's in no way a supernatural experience. Neat visuals, underwhelming gameplay with an anti-climatic IRL grounded ending.

This experience was quite interesting. On one hand, it has nothing to do with Silent Hill other than the fog, although if you overlook that aspect, the plot itself is good. The combat is stiff and basically just an annoying obstacle that provides no fun. Personally, I liked the game, but as I mentioned, it doesn't have much in common with Silent Hill.

I platinumed Silent Hill f as a longtime fan, but it quickly falls apart. Combat is clunky, unreliable, and frustrating, with poor balance and repetitive enemies. Environments and puzzles feel bland, while bloated systems add busywork. The story is overstuffed, poorly delivered, and ends in cringe writing and miscast voice acting. Despite occasional highlights, it feels out of touch and exhausting. Honestly, it’s better experienced as a YouTube playthrough than a game for most players.

if you play sh for subtlety, psychological horror, the world, the tone, designs, or lets be real, anything other than mist, then you want to avoid shf, it too often mistakes tossing random speculation bait that goes nowhere and blocking off information until ng+ for no legit reason to be depth and nuance, the worst part is it's not even fun

It's a fantastic thriller game! The gameplay is excellent, but the girl, for an athlete, seems to have asthma lol. The ending could have been clearer and more direct, instead of having to replay to understand the story, which was about a wedding. The game was very metaphorical and difficult to understand, even after finishing it, and since this aspect wasn't great, I'll give it a 9! It's below the Silent Hill 2 remake, but it's an excellent game that could have had a better narrative!

F bares very little resemblence to SILENT HILL, and has almost none of the defining qualities that made it famous as a franchise. In fact, it's almost the polar opposite of what SILENT HILL is tonally and philosophically. Some tourists will try to argue this, but if you actually ask them what makes it SILENT HILL, they'll say "It has fog!" or "It's symbolic" or "Trauma!" or give some vague platitude about The Themes that doesn't mean anything, proving that they're a vocal minority that has never played the games they claim to be "long time fans" of. The closest thing to a SILENT HILL game similar to F would be ORIGINS or DOWNPOUR, which were also criticized for being inauthentic, so that comparison ain't doing it favors.

I can see why the community didn't like this game. After silent hill 2 remake, silent hill f was short. I mean the story is incredible, the Japanese environment was sublime. This game is great but I think was overshadowed by silent hill 2 remake. However I'd totally recommend to play it.

7,5/10 for me. Pros: - Interesting Story and charakters - Great atmosphere and good graphics - Great sound atmosphere Cons: - Combat feels not really good and the enemies are a bit too spongy for my taste - I didnt like the gameplay in general, it feels kinda repetitive especially when you have to collect 3 things to open a door and then repeat the same **** again...

If you're a fan of the Silent Hill series, I'd strongly recommend playing the demo before committing to a **** graphics are serviceable, but the environmental detail falls noticeably short of what Bloober Team achieved with the SH2 Remake. Small touches that made that game feel alive — torn paper drifting in the breeze, cloth moving in the wind — are largely absent here. Trees sway, but the world otherwise feels static. Even the collectible notes feel like a missed opportunity; rather than featuring handwritten text as the SH2 Remake did, giving each note a sense of authenticity and personality, they are rendered as small graphics with plain computer-generated text. It's a small detail, but it speaks to a broader lack of care in making the world feel genuinely **** writing is where the game struggles most. Rather than trusting the player to draw their own conclusions, the narrative over-explains itself at nearly every turn. For a franchise built on psychological ambiguity, this is a significant misstep that makes the storytelling feel amateurish by comparison.Combat is heavily emphasized, and while the mechanics borrow from the Souls genre — rewarding precise dodging and timing — it works against the horror. Enemies are too easily staggered, making encounters feel routine rather than threatening. The weapon degradation system adds maintenance without tension; repair kits are scarce, but the system feels more at home in a Resident Evil title than a Silent Hill one. Similarly, the decision to respawn certain larger enemies after only a few seconds is more irritating than frightening, which is a meaningful distinction in survival **** puzzles, historically a pillar of the SH experience, feel like an afterthought here — too simple and too sparse to carry any weight.Taken together, this is a game that mistakes activity for engagement. It kept me busy without ever drawing me in, and I came away both disappointed and underwhelmed. Score: 2/10
