Shelter 2 is pretty much a happening like the first game, but this time around, it is a mature work of art that has a clear idea at its core.

A game both lovely and flawed. Just as its predecessor, Shelter 2 is a moving, beautiful experience. It's also a bit too simple and short. The open world is a wonderful addition, but why is there so little to do in there? [Apr 2015]
In some ways, Shelter 2 improves on its predecessor, but its brevity and lack of depth make it much weaker than the first overall.

At first, everything seemed monotonous and boring. But when I lost one of the kittens, it set my soul on fire. I was permeated with a sense of shame, and not a single game had yet evoked such emotions in me. I think it speaks volumes about the game. Shelter 2 is about an emotional attachment that cannot be described in words.

I think it's a rather pleasant journey, I love the art style and the music always fits your adventures well. I would say it is an improvement over the first gameplay and controls-wise. Not for those looking for a meaty, 10+ hours worth of content game. There are many collectibles and achievements you can go back and try your hand at getting, though, if you're into that.

A more ambitious game than the first one, it's still unique, poetic and all, but you still need to be in the right state of mind to appreciate it.

It's no longer surprising, but it's a step forward improving the original concept, making it open world and widening the possibilities.

I haven't played the first part, yet I found this part to impress me. Wonderful thing, especially on the very first play-through. A definitely must-see game.

Technically flawed but with a bulletproof message delivered through gameplay. [May 2015, p.80]

Shelter 2 is still a unique and unconventional game, but larger world and no changes in gameplay introduce too much monotony to the experience.

The lack of threat and its big yet pointless open world robs the game of challenge, likely leaving you broadly unsatisfied after just a handful of hours.

The lynx family survival simulator, which went wrong. It builds on the foundations of the first game, that are not working in the open world and beyond admiring the beautiful landscape it offers practically nothing. Don´t expect entertaining survival from Shelter 2.

I really wanted to enjoy the adventure of living as a lynx mother, but technical flaws alone have me weary of playing another Might and Delight title. Although the game is only $14.99, the entertainment value offered is far below that.

In a word I would call this game, excellent. I found myself growing an attachment to all my pups, that in itself is hard to do, and if one dies it's heartbreaking. At one point one of my pups was crying out to me in hunger and I was running a rabbit I just caught over to her to revive her and she died right before I could get to her. There has only been a handful of moments in games that made me shed a tear and this was one of them. This is not your standard AAA title, if you are looking to do something more then just barely surviving then this is not the game for you, but if you are looking for a truly unique game play experience give this a try! On a side note there are some bugs in the game and I found it annoying but not enough to take me want to quit, and with time I think they will all get ironed out.

There isn't as much emotional commitment here like in the first game, the graphics/art style is improved but the game is repetitive and not that memorable, play the first instead!

Nothing much to do, and nothing too distinct from Shelter 1. Furthermore, the story and gameplay is too short. There is low re-playability as well. 3/10.

Nothing more than an inferior reskin of the original Shelter game. Awful, simply awful. And incredibly exploitative. Just avoid it. Get the original Shelter if you must, it'd be cheaper and you wouldn't be missing out on anything other than some added frustrations.

SummaryThe beauty of nature goes hand in hand with its unforgiving rawness. That is central in Shelter 2, and one of the reasons we chose to make a game about a Lynx. They are in middle of the food chain, and there are far more vicious things out on the cold tundra...Guide a powerful Lynx through vast open landscapes. Give birth to your cubs, r... Read More
