Severed Steel
The acrobatic shoot-fest known as Severed Steel is, without any exaggeration, tons of fun. Sadly, while it could be one of the genre's classics, it is barebones in terms of content. There simply aren't many things to do here, and there's almost no incentive to go back to it. It needs a better campaign, more varied weaponry, enemies, as well as some extra stuff, be it power-ups, or alternative game modes. Or at least a better price-tag…
With all its simplicity and a very short-lived campaign, Severed Steel offers a decent shooting practice for an evening or two.

Severed Steel left me conflicted. On the one hand, it’s a pity that a couple of truly brilliant ideas were implemented in a generally unpolished game. On the other hand, despite all its flaws it’s a fun, engaging shooter that kept me in front of the screen for hours. [12/2021, p.39]

Talk about a quick fast-paced FPS that is incredibly fun as well to play through. Gameplay is key and it’s smooth with the wall-running, sliding, satisfying shooting, and it’s just pure perfection in chaos. Definitely worth it being a smaller-scale shooter that absolutely deserves more attention than it has gotten. Easily a 9 out of 10. Definitely worth it for sure.

Do NOT listen to these poseurs yapping about”not enough content”. F that. This game SLAPS and is often on sale for a mere 2.50 bucks. Since release, the developer has added a roguelike mode and an arena firefight mode. Buy this game. Whatever you do, buy this game.

This is a really fun game. It's got great, flashy movement, almost to a fault as while I wanted to focus on utilizing the movement tools provided to me to gain great speed, the difficulty of head-shotting enemies is proportional to how fast you are moving. Aside from that, it's very fun and I'd recommend it.

Severed Steel assaults many of your senses and rewards your bullet dodging, slow motion ballet dancing with satisfying kills while caressing your eyes and ears with the striking visuals and soundtrack it presents to you.

Severed Steel is a fantastic ride while it last, there is a map editor for the brave but replay value is only going to be found for those that have the need to top a leaderboard or want to record some dope slo-mo montages. Anyone looking for a supremely easy to get into action game that blends the bullet-time from Max Payne with a bombastic soundtrack pumping techno music and all the slides and dives from 80-90’s action movies…look absolutely no further than Severed Steel. For a first game Greylock has nailed it and I can’t wait to see this gem on consoles.

In my opinion, best FPS game I've ever played, Max Payne is second one for me.

With destructible environments (you can blow holes in almost everything), frenetic action, over-the-top physics and a soundtrack that rarely takes a breather, Severed Steel is an enjoyable, cathartic experience.

What it lacks in narrative, Severed Steel makes up for it in the gameplay department. It’s fast, it’s frenetic, it’s vibrant and by golly, is it fun. There’s no greater pleasure in somersaulting over goons to air out their brain cases in glorious voxel violence. Switch off the lateral thinking and engage those cat-like reflexes.

Severed Steel was fun to play, but I couldn’t recommend it at its current price in its present state. Greylock Studio needs to throw some intense boss battles in there, a few tough enemies, and, in my opinion, rework the bullet time metre. I really hope the developers don’t move onto their next project straight away, and instead turn this game into a series that will make people look forward to the sequel. If you love these types of games, then there is no doubt in my mind that you will also enjoy Severed Steel.

This was a pretty fun game for 60% of it! The most balanced game that I've ever seen on FPS (apart from Call of Duty). You can jump around, dive, your health regenerates naturally, you can keep picking up guns (there's no reload), keep jumping around various platforms as more and more enemies start coming. Every map has a different objective which is clearly marked on your HUD (very very awesome concept - why can't other games also do this?) The jumping around, wall-run, double-jump, combined with dive give you an almost infinite amount of wall-running and jumping so that you can even go to a door above by alternating between these (provided there's enough wall to keep running). Then why have I given only 7 points? Because it becomes way too difficult at 60% mark to the point that it's unenjoyable, its stressful and it plain ****! However, I enjoyed the game for the first 60% and will have good memories of it. Great work to the team!

This game should have been right up my alley. But I hated it.. The combat is flimsy and has no impact. At the same time you can't even tell when you are taking damage until kill Screen. Lazy awkward game. Don't buy just cause you like Max payne or those vr games. This game aux.

SummarySevered Steel is a single-player FPS featuring a fluid stunt system, destructible voxel environments, loads of bullet time, and a unique one-armed protagonist. It's you, your trigger finger, and a steel-toed boot against a superstructure full of bad guys. Chain together wall runs, dives, flips, and slides to take every last enemy down. P... Read More
