Damn the time I wasted on this game. How can a racing game be so difficult and stressful? I couldn't complete the first mission on the easiest difficulty even after 30 attempts. In short, this game is like the Souls of racing games; definitely don't play it, don't waste your life !...

Great arcade car game with actual mechanics, the story takes around 17 to 20 hours to complete. With crossplay addiction, 4 players co-op a fews different single player mode to play this is a great game

Screamer is a bold entry in the genre that refuses to rely on familiar formulas. Instead, the game combines classic arcade elements with tactical depth, unusual controls, and surprisingly strong presentation for a racing game. Not all decisions will appeal to the masses – the controls, in particular, demand patience and adaptation. But therein lies the appeal: Screamer challenges its players and, in return, offers a fresh, unique driving experience. Milestone has achieved more than just a successful revival. It's a confident reinvention that demonstrates just how much innovative potential even an established genre still holds.

First of all it is very good game, I LOVE when racing games have actually complex and interesting story mode, I loved the story by itself, I really liked characters, and voice acting is supreme, and music is excellent, but there are BUTS, It can be really frustrating, like mario karts level frustrating, you will scream, rage and try to eat your joystick, some missions are absurdly hard, you have to race again and again on the same track to understand it just so you have a chance of completing the missions PLUS controls can be and are sometimes unresponsive and I would describe that as a big issue especially in arcade racing game. But if you are like me and you like Motostrorms, Sonic racing and stuff, you will love it, just buy it and enjoy and sometimes suffer, but it is worth it

Screamer offers a great arcade experience that balances slightly complex controls and a fun and smooth octane gameplay. Alongside, a 3D anime-inspired artstyle, a deeply interesting story that starts slow at first but picks up the pace later on (few episodes can feel like filler), and great characters. Screamer also features few racing modes with the ability to modify them, large amount of tracks, a basic vehicle customization with different sets for each vehicle, collectibles, and online racing. Aside from some minor issues, and a price tag of $59.99 (which can be considered expensive based on the amount of content you get), Screamer is worth your while if you love arcade racing games.

Un excellent jeu arcade, avec des graphismes sublimes et un gameplay ultra plaisant et dynamique. Une histoire soignée. Un jeu comme on n’en fait plus. Merci Milestone !!!

I don't know what and why I am playing now

Just an amazing game. It delivers on the fun story, tight racing mechanics, and solid ost. We could finally be seeing the evolution of racing games if more follow this and build on it. Here’s hoping that racing games can finally take the next step finally.

I’ve been putting a lot of hours into the tournament story mode and I’ve started off as story focused, instead of the balanced or challenge focused difficulties for the story campaign and it’s still white knuckle tough racing.

Screamer is a slowburn. Once you understand the driving concepts you’re gonna love this game! Pure fun! Good job devs!

In short: if you're on the fence about buying Screamer, just go for it. The full price might seem steep, but once you've played it, it's clear that Milestone's game is worth every penny — if only for the sheer production effort. There's a real entry barrier with unusual mechanics and an initially slow pace; push past the first few hours, however, and you'll find thrilling gameplay and one of the boldest, freshest titles in the entire current video game landscape. There have been far too many solid games that failed too soon; Screamer shouldn't be another name on that list. The game's main strength is its gameplay: from the (previously little-explored) twin-stick system for steering and drifting to the layered mechanics you manage mid-race, it's initially tough to master but incredibly rewarding once learned. The blend of racing, beat-'em-up combat, and hero shooter elements with unique character abilities is quirky but genuinely fun. Driving feel is excellent and distinct for every car, supported by top-tier haptic feedback (at least on PS5) that soon makes every mechanic feel instinctive. The car balancing isn't perfect, with some characters more penalized than others (Lavinia, for example, has a max speed that's currently too low, making her power — one of the most fun in the roster — almost useless and barely enough to close the gap that naturally forms between her and the rest of the pack). Nothing that couldn't be fixed with corrective patches. Rubber banding is almost nonexistent, the AI is excellent and appropriately challenging, and frustrating moments are rare. Three camera views are available, but the first-person cockpit view is sadly missing; it would have been a huge boost to immersion. Gameplay shines across a solid mix of offline and online modes, from traditional races to team-focused and combat-heavy ones, plus local split-screen for up to four players. All of this is anchored by a substantial single-player campaign, The Tournament, which isn't mandatory but is the best way to learn every mechanic. The story starts slowly — perhaps too slowly — but eventually picks up and becomes engaging, even if not overly complex. Relationships between characters feel genuine, enhanced by each speaking their native language with full voice acting. The choice adds personality, though the fact that 6 out of 15 characters are Japanese feels a bit off with the cosmopolitan spirit the game claims to have, given the chance to feature other nationalities or double up on some of the underrepresented ones. The narrative mixes gorgeous Polygon Pictures cutscenes with a graphic novel style that works well overall (though early dialogue could have been trimmed). The slow opening actually complements the gameplay by gradually introducing new mechanics without overwhelming you. On the technical and visual side, the aesthetic is captivating: detailed cars and characters' designs, stunning cyberpunk environments with pastel-to-vibrant palettes, and four distinct biomes featuring a good amount of tracks. Some circuits lack creativity and could use more dynamism, but many deliver frame-worthy views. The soundtrack is never boring, though streaming mode has a noticeable flaw — no original track replaces copyrighted music in key moments and the intro, so the music simply drops out. A well-structured photo mode rounds things out nicely. Screamer isn't perfect — it has flaws and small omissions that could have added even more value. But it's a rare gem with nearly every piece in the right place. The fear is that the launch price will be perceived as unjustified — the game would have definitely benefited from a public demo in that regard, along with more aggressive marketing around the big names involved (those of Polygon Pictures and Troy Baker were exploited far too little to justify their presence, for example. It makes you wonder if they could have aimed for less high-profile talent to cut costs and therefore the initial price) — and that Screamer might die soon due to the limited audience. Yet it deserves to be remembered as Milestone's modern masterpiece. Two small side notes: the Deluxe Echo Edition has a beautiful steelbook, but for the price they could have included one more physical extra, even a smaller 'Loss' comic. Finally, an 8/10 feels like the fairer score, but it's hard to ignore the genuine passion behind the project, and it's only right to push back against ridiculous 1s and 3s given out simply because a character rubs some players the wrong way.

Needs time to adapt and learn.
For arcade fun too complicated.
But great if you are looking for deeper layers of gameplay.

A slow burn at the start but the story and mechanics all seem to click around the 5 hour mark. When they do, HOLY CRAP, are you in for a ride! My favourite arcade racer since Onrush. The mechanics are a mix between Wipeout/Redout and Burnout. Truly a modern classic. Considering picking up a physical copy to ensure I can still play it in 20 years time.

A new type of thinking when drifting a arcade racer.
Very well written story that will involve you if you just give it a chance!
Even if some story take time, I would say thet the balance is perfect in the end.

I don't like anime so I won't adjust my review according to that personal taste. The gameplay is fun albeit can be difficult. I'm halfway in the story and I guess for people who like visual novels/anime, and racing games, this is a must. For people like me, it depends if you're looking for just a fun racing experience. The visuals are also pretty good. My biggest criticism is some of the characters, it can get quite cringe tbh. Good thing you can just skip all the story if you want to. I do want to add, this game is nowhere close to a 2 or 3 some people give. Rubber banding has not been an issue for me at all as well, haven't even noticed it. Playing on normal difficulty.

Terrible and trite story. Good visuals. Horrible rubber banding. Think any kart racer but worse. Dual stick gets old fast. Waste of money and complete failure of mediocrity.

The original Screamer from the 90s was a classic, brilliant game. This one is ok but Roisin is one of the worst characters I've seen in a game, she an angry hateful feminist who attacks her team mates in every cutscene. So pointless, arent we past the girl boss who hates the entire world and hates men even more. I mean how much hate can you have, this is a video game. Swearing and insulting the lead character every second sentence. All they had to do was make a decent racing game and the story was just a bonus. But they made the story and characters so atrocious, it just detracts from the game itself.

It looks great, but is still a crappy Milestone game under the hood. Wallride clown fiesta; story mode is a VN snoozefest; engine sounds recycled from Hot Wheels Unleashed - Nice €60 game, Milestone! Don't trust the weebs who give this slop a positive score!

This game's music alone is a 10/10. I won't lie to you the difficulty is high on this one, but i absolutely love the challenge. this game has its own identity, its unique, nothing looks like it or feels like it or sounds like it. The racing genre has been absolutely dull the last decade. Please give this game a chance.

Decent driving mechanics, but nothing special. Insane rubber banding that demands perfection or else total failure.Thank god I pirated it instead of spending money on.
