While certainly rough around the edges, Raji: An Ancient Epic is an earnest swing that shows a ton of heart and some great ideas.

Raji: An Ancient Epic stands apart from its competition thanks to the game’s mythological exploration, but the unpolished state that it has arrived in detracts from its clear successes. Even if it doesn’t wholeheartedly deliver on its potential, there’s still much to admire from the adventure looking back from its conclusion.

Raji: An Ancient Epic is a beautiful adventure unlike anything we’ve likely seen in video games, let alone the Switch. The gameplay itself is of a strong if unspectacular standard, but it’s the design and the experience which you’re paying for here.

This game is based on indian historical theme, with decent combat fight and cinematic story telling, good for everyone

This is definitely a good game. Fantastic visual and story. It features enjoyable challenges and definitely intriguing storytelling. I love the world of Raji and the Indusn gods Devas...great music and the world-building elements that make an immersive story. Listening to the narrations by the goddess Durga about the wars between the Devas (gods) and Asuras (demons) is captivating and enchanting. I wish there were more games that explored stories from Indian mythology. This game is truly a gem!

Great story and gameplay. I really enjoyed it and it felt like playing older version of GOW. Bosses are bit tough to bit and need lot of replay to kill it.

The theme, gameplay, and the excellent visuals in Raji: An Ancient Epic make for a fun session every time you fire it up. The limitations are minimal, and the very few critiques I might have are not major detractors. This is a good game and worth a playthrough.

Few 3D action games feature the level of finesse and originality that Raji: An Ancient Epic boasts and it's quite captivating, too.

Set in a beautiful environment, the game is like nothing i have seen before. Amazing sound track, cant wait for the OST. Story and character development could have been better. Also would have loved it in hindi audio.

While not without its flaws, Raji: An Ancient Epic is a competent and enjoyable debut from Nodding Head Games that leans on some video game classics for its mechanics and combat but blends them with Hindu iconography and Balinese mythology to give it oodles of character.

Great art and an intriguing story set a strong premise for Raji: An Ancient Epic. It's backed by some impressive experimental gameplay and combat that has a few flaws, but it is far from broken. Playing as Raji is a joy and many Prince of Persia fans may see some things they liked from that series reflected here. Exploring the mythology and beliefs presented is an experience that only this has provided - a unique premise, if you will. It's in need of some polish but it feels like the developer realised its dream and with this commendable effort it's a shining start for the team. Raji comes recommended to all players looking for a new mythological action title!

Raji: An Ancient Epic is a gorgeous game, and it would be nice to be able to appreciate everything about it. As it stands, though, it’s the equivalent of the prettiest box you’ve ever seen containing an utterly forgettable present.

Raji; An Ancient Epic has a lot of potential and a unique style and story, but seems to be actively working against the player’s enjoyment in many ways. While the first level is enjoyable, the rest of the game is plagued with performance issues and incomprehensible design decisions.

One of the most beautiful games I have played till now, I loved the game play. And for 25€ worth it. The Indian background music is amazing too

I don't know what happened! I played the demo and loved it, so I bought the full game and it wasn't as good. Nevertheless, its an incredible looking game, so maybe I'll give it another try.

A valiant first effort for Indian devs. The visuals/art style is genuinely spectacular, and the combat is generally fun and satisfying as well. Problems can arise from a weird lack of depth perception, making combat and especially platforming a little finicky and annoying, and an incoherent story; I didn't really know what was going on and Raji jumped from location to location seemingly at random. Vishnu and Durga's conversations were great though, definitely a highlight, and as an Indian the attention to mythology was a joy to see.

Was great for the first two thirds of the game, then they introduced an enemy that looks like a chess piece that quickly spawns other types of enemies to where you end up in an unbalanced thunderdome. On normal difficulty, the fights ended up being mostly the speedy bad guys that are meant to be countered by the shield, but after 4 or so spawn you are quickly overwhelemed. I managed to get lucky on one attempt and my bow didn’t auto target too many of the wrong statues and I cleared it, but it was just not a fun encounter like the rest. Just after, I end up at a forced stealth section that is far too slow and one mistake puts you back at the start. It feels like two different sets of level designers made the game. The pace was broken and I lost all interest in continuing. Story and feel was amazing, and the mythological aspects of this game are what made me want to keep playing. That said this would have been a 10 for me, but they dropped the baton at the end.

The only thing good about this game is its location design. The story is awful, the gameplay is repetitive ( platforming and combat again and again in predictable sequences), the dialogues are just bad and the background story is told by the worst exposition ever. I think the goal of the developers was to just teach the mythology of Indian gods but honestly they have chosen a bad way to tell their stories. I mainly support indie games but this one was just bad and a waste of time. I don’t know how some users have given this high scores but don’t waste your time on this.
Summary Raji: An Ancient Epic is an action-adventure game set in ancient India. A young girl named Raji has been chosen by the gods to stand against the demonic invasion of the human realm. Her destiny? To rescue her younger brother and face the demon lord Mahabalasura.
