Seasoned tabletop players and those who are willing to invest the time and effort into learning the systems could sink their teeth into this one if they're willing to look past its buggy warts, but Kingmaker doesn't offer enough different or intriguing content to win over someone who isn't already invested in this system and world.
If you were looking forward to dive deep into Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Definitive Edition on consoles, you probably should change your plans. At least for the time being, while the devs are trying to fix their game. Meanwhile, if you still crave that classic role-playing experience, just get yourself Pillars of Eternity or Divinity: Original Sin.
Thanks to the new turn based combat and the added DLCs, the console version of Pathfinder Kingmaker is on par with the PC one, and comes recommended for all RPG fans.

I bought the game may 21, 2025. I've already put over 80 hours into it. It has been 80 hours that felt like I'm working on this game instead of playing. Most of that time was spent trying to solve some bug or performance issue that is actually unsolvable. Like the constant stuttering. Simply walking in this game is buggy and painful. Constant crashes, saves that don't load, broken skills and abilities that do nothing and one unique bug: there's a few npc's that if talked to makes the game go back to the title screen. It happens every time you talk to them. I never saw anything like that. I almost bought that wrath of the righteous crap because their were both on sale. I'm glad that I didn't, but I wish I hadn't even heard of this game.

I actually played this on PC. It was pretty decent up to the part where you go to the Other World in The Bloom saga. That was total crap. I would play the game when you can get it for free. I would not pay for the game.

I hope this is just the start for Pathfinder in video games, and I like the future that Kingmaker promises. It's a major time commitment, sure, but Pathfinder: Kingmaker has the kind of narrative arc and development that perfectly captures the essence of playing a tabletop RPG, only in digital form. That's something that I haven't really felt since the era of Baldur's Gate itself and for that I really appreciated what the developers have achieved her.

Pathfinder Kingmaker is therefore confirmed as a good quality product even on consoles, proving to be able to obscure some of its shortcomings behind a truly impressive amount of content that will undoubtedly fully satisfy the expectations of the diehards of the category.

Incredible game, indredible scope, amazing story. Hundreds of hours of classic CRPG fun. Very challenging fights, but now finally good balancing. The one true heir to Baldurs Gate 2

A brilliant cRPG, that got even better in this edition thanks to the many solved bugs and the introduction of an "official" turn based mode during fights.

With patience you can master the fiddly battle menus, and the wealth of content2 banishes any frustrations to a deep, dark dungeon. Outside of combat menus are a joy to navigate on R2. The sense of immersion helps break down the barriers of the game’s PC origins, as whether it’s cooking campfire meals or using a character’s lore knowledge to seek new narrative pathways, there are roles here you’ll enjoy playing for weeks. I loved this game, felt like my DnD adventures brought to life with a great story, gameplay and characters but the CONSTANT game crashes nearing the end game are abysmal.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker for the PS4 is a strategic RPG where you play using a hard-lined D&D system. I picked this game up because I have been DMing my own own creation of table top game based loosely off of D&D, so my experience may vary greatly from your own. With that said I'll give it the most fair assessment I am capable of. The game has an absolutely crushing difficulty that you are going to want to adjust immediately at the start. Speaking to former players they all told me their own experiences were all on the easiest difficulty setting. I tried to set up something with a bit more challenge but honestly even tweaking things ever so slightly can cost you quite a bit of time. The menus are confusing and a bit convoluted, and even the items themselves can be considerably confusing to anyone who isn't a long time player of the table top adventure. The game is riddle with bugs, crashing games and ruining save states despite the fact that it is an older game. It's significantly embarrassing for a port **** to work this poorly and honestly if it worked as intended there's just too many other dungeons and dragons-esque games released in the past on the platform that play great and are a good time unlike this title. perhaps for the D&D hardcore out there it might provide a pleasant experience while you're away from your friends but for anyone else I would suggest saving the money and playing something better like "Divinity II: Original Sin".

The game is great when it works but it crashes all the time, save files don't always work properly and there are features that just don't work at all. For a full priced game this isn't acceptable. Also a 17gb patch on the second day is poor form given the whole game is 40gb
