This game will surely delight One Piece fans, with a remarkable story, a great presentation and a fantastic soundtrack matched with the voices of the original actors from the series. However, the characters’ journey through this new release of the saga is slow, boring at times and lacks originality.
One Piece Odyssey is a great JRPG that offers a new adventure for the straw hat crew that is clearly addressed to fans of the series.
One Piece Odyssey is a blatantly predictable and run-of-the-mill experience. While it may seem obvious that an anime game is targeted to an audience familiar with it, one may wonder why to waste an opportunity to make it more democratic and attract new fans. The tweaks to the classic turn-based battle structure are welcome but fall short due to the game’s unchallenging difficulty and easy-to-break equipment system. Die-hard One Piece fans will be able to appreciate the game as an interactive reminiscence of its arcs with minor redesigns. Yet, those looking for a bold and unique game may need to look elsewhere.

One Piece world doesn't really fit in a turn based RPG to start with and the gameplay doesn't feel neither fresh or inspired.

Here's my piece: This game is incredibly run-of-the-mill average. The forced tutorial is drawn-out way past the line where it is no longer welcome. From what I could tell is the tutorial mercifully ends by the time you reach the first temple to fight the electric golem. This is not red dead redemption 2, I can understand how to play this game pretty quickly without tutorials. It is insanely linear, you go from point A to point B with no deviation. Even when I'm not trying to do much of anything the game decides to be annoying. There are those shiny things everywhere right, well on the first quest given by Adio to regain your powers, he literally will not let you walk 10 meters away from him to pick up loot. The game is too easy, I thought at first it was intentional for the prologue/tutorial to show how strong and badass the pirate crew is since weirdly you start at level 40 which is not something you see often in rpgs, but even past that bar, enemies still get defeated quickly if not in 1 hit. The first post-tutorial boss took only 3 hits to get defeated. I swear this game was made for people who have literally never played a game in their life before. Also more of a nitpick than anything, but I was under the impression it was going to be open world like the recent Zeldas. It is not, don't get fooled! Now for stuff that I did like: their charactherization is just like in the anime and I kind of wish they leaned more into that aspect of them just having fun and chit-chatting beween themselves in the same way Persona 5 did it with Mementos convos.

ONE PIECE ODYSSEY is a fantastic journey with the Straw Hat Crew, that combines a light-hearted adventure, with a fun and flashy combat system. A must-play if you’re a ONE PIECE fan, though still very much recommended even if you’re not.

But Why Tho?
One Piece Odyssey is the best video game story set in the One Piece universe to date. A delightful story and beautiful worlds more than make up for some more frustrating and outdated JRPG staples. Non-fans of the franchise might have a harder time getting into the already-established world, but it’s a hurdle that can absolutely be cleared. Whether players are newcomers or lifelong fans, One Piece Odyssey is a grand adventure absolutely worth going on.

one piece is peak and no one has ever written or drawn a manga as well as Echiro Oda. this game is a 10/10 just for having one piece in its title.

One piece odyssey is a joy to play for all long time one piece fans. Oda sensei being on the team really reflects through the game and playing as the mugiwara crew never felt better! Love this, hope for more from Oda sensei.

One Piece Odyssey passes the test by making the leap into the turn-based RPG genre. Fans of the series will be delighted with this story with a new story arc. It has interesting mechanics but can feel very easy at first. It gets more interesting as we go along, and it's great to see the characters perform their signature moves.

Worth Playing
One Piece Odyssey is a nice RPG for fans of the franchise. It's clearly crafted with a lot of love, and there's a ton of great banter and interaction between the cast members. The core gameplay is perfectly serviceable, but it never really reaches the realm of "great," and it takes a bit too long to get going. It's probably not going to attract the attention of anyone who isn't a big "One Piece" fan, but for those fans, it should be an enjoyable little RPG. At the end of the day, how much fun you'll have boils down to how much you enjoy punching bad pirates in the face with your favorite pirates, and there's a whole lot of folks who want just that.

A stunning One Piece game great for fans and JRPG newbies, but one that won't satisfy hardened min-maxers.

The main thing is, One Piece Odyssey has made me want to watch the anime. Yes, I’m aware it’s over 1000-episodes-long and is only just getting to its final arc now, but the world of Eiichiro Oda’s franchise seems more inviting now than ever, and that’s all down to what this game has shown me.

One Piece Odyssey is a slog to play, with horrendous pacing and progression issues destroying what little good can be found in the story and combat.

One Piece Odyssey is everything I wanted from a game based on my favorite series. It's got the classic RPG game-play with a unique spin that kept me engaged all the way through, beautiful graphics that bring the Anime/Manga locations to life and loads of interactions between the Straw Hat Crew that make it feel like you're constantly watching an episode. The basic difficulty didn't bother me in the slightest since I'm pretty versatile with RPGs in general. It's easily the best One Piece game so far and I hope Namco Bandai makes more like this that cover the entire story so far with the same level of passion. I'm absolutely satisfied with this one and recommend all fans to give it a shot!

The problem with games based on anime series, is that the developer only use the anime franchise as a way to bait in people to buy there product. Look at fairy tail, there was no love put into that game and same goes for this game. I might be giving the game a very low score but i feel like its justified because a game like this could of been epic, but they used the anime "One piece" to get sales The games not good.

The game looks good but has a lot of wasted potential. Out of 9 straw hats, 7 can be steered and 2 are only there to fight. The special abilities that the characters bring with them are all rather modest to unnecessary, as an example to use Luffy's ability of hakis where you can see if where a wall can be broken is simply useless because there are hardly any such walls and if there are which are the automatically targeted. You also notice in the middle of the story that the developers didn't give much thought to improving the characters. The function that you can give your characters new clothes is also unnecessary because there are only 2 unlockable pieces of clothing in the game and they are only for the characters that are not even controllable on the overworld (there is also a new piece of clothing for the other characters but only pre-order can get) The game world is nice to look at but quite bulky and linearly explorable, so you could have given the player much more freedom when exploring and exploring. In terms of difficulty, the game isn't exactly a challenge either, especially since the combat system seems a bit immature and you can't be just over or under leveled because many opponents can be defeated with just one hit and special opponents who give you a lot of exp can even be farmed. Although there is still a lot I could say about the game, I'll end the comment here and just say one more thing, Unless you are a mega fanboy of the series and ignore everything that is missing from the game because it is one piece, I can only say that One Piece Odyssey is not a game that can or should be described as an outstanding or best one piece game.

SummaryJoin this brand-new RPG featuring new character and monster designs produced by Eiichiro Oda, the author of ONE PIECE. The game is also complemented by the beautiful music of Motoi Sakuraba, a composer well known for his various contributions to video games such as the Dark Souls and Tales of series.
