Noisy Pixel
Lunar Abyss delivers one of the most exhilarating FPS campaigns in recent memory, combining fast-paced combat, inventive boss encounters, and surreal platforming into a tightly focused sci-fi adventure. Kwalee Labs channels inspiration from DOOM Eternal while carving out its own identity through creative level design, dreamlike atmosphere, and consistently rewarding gameplay systems. While some narrative choices and underdeveloped mechanics hold it back from true greatness, the core experience is so thrilling that it remains hard to put down.

Impulsegamer
Luna Abyss drops you into a mysterious megastructure carved into a blood red moon, where you play as a prisoner forced into dangerous exploration. As you descend deeper, the story slowly reveals a hidden truth behind the mission, the world’s past, and the strange forces that seem to guide everything from the shadows. It blends shooting, movement, and exploration into a steady journey that focuses more on atmosphere and discovery than nonstop combat.

PlayStation Universe
A stylish, systems-driven sci-fi action game that blends intense combat, strong traversal mechanics and atmospheric world design into a cohesive whole. Held back slightly by combat readability issues and occasional visual softness, but Luna Abyss still delivers a highly engaging experience overall.

Digital Chumps
Luna Abyss uses the framework of a first-person shooter as an easy pill to swallow down its distinctly bizarre existence. In this universe of gripping, alien weirdness, players may get lost in an obtuse plot that gleefully plays with expectations as layer after layer is uncovered for meaning. All the while, it is a bullet hell that works to feed new mechanics to the player keeping them as equally engaged with the gameplay as they are with the narrative. Though strange, it’s difficult not to be transfixed by what Luna Abyss has to offer.

Luna Abyss is weird, chaotic and completely unafraid to do its own thing. Beneath the vague story lies a fascinating world that keeps pulling you deeper, while the fast-paced gunplay and slick platforming rarely give you a moment to breathe. It’s not flawless thanks to the clunky lock-on system and repetitive environments, but if you’re into relentless action with a bizarre edge, this is one to keep on your radar.

Finger Guns
On its own merits, Luna Abyss is a tightly put together first person shooter/platformer with an interesting enough story and concept. The gunplay is rewarding and not bogged down by tacked-on upgrade mechanics. The platforming is a neat little mix of brute force and lateral thinking, sometimes both simultaneously.

There aren’t many games that can go from a thrilling boss battle that floods the screen with an uncountable amount of projectiles to a scene with a giant cat-like, blade-headed character with a thick Irish accent who painfully regales the cruelty of the world, but that’s what makes Luna Abyss such a distinct experience.

Luna Abyss introduces you to a dark and intriguing world where you complete tasks for someone called the All-Father to reduce your prison sentence. What follows is an adventure that combines first-person platforming and bullet-hell combat, and it holds your attention throughout – despite some minor issues along the way.

Push Square
Luna Abyss is a AA shooter that holds its own against some of the elite of the genre. Its enticing and ominous sci-fi world is a delight to look at artistically, even if its muddy graphics let it down on closer inspection. Its story is fine, but a slick sense of progression keeps its action and platforming interesting from start to finish.

Loot Level Chill
Despite some ropey platforming and some uneven pacing, Luna Abyss is a compelling debut from a new indie studio.
