Bayonetta and Devil May Cry are maybe better optimized from a game design perspective but there is no other fighting game with such a sexy look as Lollipop Chainsaw. [Issue#220]
Playing Lollipop Chainsaw is exactly like eating a lollipop - once you're finished with such a luscious treat, all the excitement is gone but definitely remembered.

A banger game to complete, whole game was just a blast and I had a cartoonish grin on my face for most of it, never got stale and the gameplay was great

Fun button masher with loads of goofy QTE's or quick time events. Awesome soundtrack lets you hack and slash zombies for a lot of enjoyment during the 6ish hour campaign. Was worth a single playthrough however I have not revisited. I liked the premise of the protagonist's boyfriend being decapitated yet attached - and talking - to her hip. Goofy nonsensical fun like many games of Suda 51 and grasshopper manufacturer's history. Not one of his best in this era but fun nonetheless.

A goofy action game with cartoonish characters. The action is relatively enjoyable and the game offers funny moments as well, like when Juliet and her sidekick mock the zany boss characters for being cliché. The licensed soundtrack is one of the best things about the game and includes some gems like Pac-Man Fever by Buckner & Garcia and Mickey by Toni Basil. It's a rather short game, but with some replay value, as you can't get all the character upgrades on your first playthrough. Ultimately the game falls short in its combat mechanics. The combat lacks impact, variety and challenge, on the normal setting.

So basically, Lollipop Chainsaw is a game that's certainly worth your time and money. The overall game, on Normal, is pretty short, but there's a whole lot replay value packed into the experience that actually makes that short game time a lot more feasible than you might expect.

Lollipop Chainsaw is an extremely eccentric game that builds itself around that idea. It never attempts to be anything it isn't and always remains fun throughout. I have slowly grown to love Suda51 games over time and appreciate their simple diversity from the pack. Having a fresh game like this is great next to the over-abundance of brown and gray shooters this market is dominated by. If you enjoy action games, and can take a little insanity, I definitely recommend giving this game a whirl. It is definitely one of the few games I played almost entirely with a smile on my face. It's charm is just how preposterous it really is.

As short as its lovely heroine's skirt, not particularly pretty and rather shallow in terms of gameplay. Still you might enjoy it if you're in a mood for some Japanese insanity. [August 2012, p.70]

As a whole, Lollipop Chainsaw is worth a try, but don't expect anything less than a perverted take on zombie bashing with all the comedic qualities of a foul-mouthed school-kid.

If you want to play a shallow fighting game that combines bad humor, cheesecake, and gore, Splatterhouse would be delighted to get a little of your attention. It knows what it is and it delivers. But the gravest insult in Lollipop Chainsaw is that it's such an obvious and vapid attempt at Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Bayonetta. You, ma'am, are no Bayonetta.

It is a very short game that packs a lot of action and humor, but lacks depth in gameplay and story. Pros: - Humorous - Huge sex appeal throughout the game, which is rare in gaming. It is implemented in a funny way. - The fast pace goes well with the flow of the game. - Characters are unique and have their own style - A large array of combos and techniques. Cons: - The combat is not very deep. Simply attacking a bit, then dodge, attacking a bit, then dodge can get you through most of the game. - There isn't much of a story. - Not much replay value other than collecting items. No multiplayer. - Short game. 5-10 hours of gameplay. - Much of the combos and techniques are not put into good use, since you only need a few of them to get through the game. - Minor glitches. One part of the game there was one zombie remaining who was invincible and the game could no progress until he was dead, I had to restart the game. Secondly, if you exit a stage and re-enter it at the stage select screen without going to the title screen, the level will be restarted. You can only continue from your checkpoint if you re-enter the stage select from the title screen.

While I have totally enjoyed this game I am a bit shocked that some many people have given it a 5 star review. Yes it's a welcome change from the big titles like COD, but it's nothing more than good old fashioned button thrashing fun. I like the way your skills build up and the combos get more elaborate. It reminds me of older titles from days gone by, the closes game I can compare it to on the Xbox is Wolverine which I loved. Do not be fooled by the portrayed cute girly looking image of this game. The language is dirty and there are plenty of sexual innuendoes which I like ;-) The main character Juliet is a babe which really makes me want to give this game a 5 star rating but she can get a little bit tedious when she repeatedly dishes out teen says such as O.M.G, awesome and this is totally cool etc etc. One other bad point is the game save points. I like to switch on the Xbox and have 15 30 mins on it while the misses is in the shower or something, the problem is that each chapter seems to last a lot longer than that and there are no midpoint saves. On the same note if you die it sometimes puts you annoyingly far back in the game. Please don't hate me for not giving this game 5 stars. I am just trying to be honest.

You would think that this game would have something going for it with its "Grindhouse" style and gameplay that is similar in some ways to God of War or Dante's Inferno... but you would be wrong. Not only does the combat get way to repetitive within the first hour and a half with hardly any enemy variation, but the dialogue tries way too hard to try and make you laugh; the only humorous one in the game would have to be Juliet's disembodied boyfriend, and even those jokes become stale after a while. If you were looking for a good hack and slash game that actually has a decent story and enjoyable combat, go for God of War 3 or Dante's Inferno. Both are better than this and won't break your wallet either, both being under $20.00.

SummaryOverflowing with sex, blood, and rock 'n’ roll, Lollipop Chainsaw is an un-deadly story of a sweet, killer zombie hunter and her mission to uncover the root of a widespread zombie outbreak. With her wickedly effective chainsaw in tow, Juliet slices and dices her way through waves of the undead, but quickly realizes the horde is only the ... Read More
