While the game was supposed to be a gacha game initially, I feel the developers taking over and deciding to change it to a regular game vs live service was a good idea. Yes it still have some systems that are remnants of its gacha predessors like Genshin and the like. Yet having the ability to play the game how you want really set this specific game ahead of the typical curve where the norm in gacha games were pump as much money into it in order to get what you want. There are smart tactics that were written into it from allow players to essentially get all the characters with some grinding. Sure there will be grinding in the game but giving incentives along the way allows to at least make the grinding feel less grindy and more enjoyable as the feeling of progress is made. I have personally played the game in small spurts where it allows me to still enjoy the game without worrying about missing out on premium banners or gear that I need to be online during a specific time frame for. The game is a breath of fresh air in the sense it allows the players just enjoy the game and the efforts that have been placed behind all the work of the game itself. In a way, I would hope that other "gacha" clones ditch the live service and make it a full game. I look forward to seeing what else they decide to do. So far from some of the content I have been able to experience, it has been solid and decent.

This game is something I was waiting for since the first gacha games started appearing. I really didn't want to play them because of the predatory practices. It is great that the makers of the game decided to make it a B2P title, and the asking price is incredibly reasonable for what it is. If this was a more expensive title, I would have given it a lower score, but considering the quality you get, it's really a good game.

It's easy to appreciate that this game started its life as a gacha game. The artwork is very good and the world is nice and colorful. It's clear the developers were banking on attracting customers based on its similarities to Zelda BotW. However, actually playing the game, it's painfully clear that the game is going to be a boring grind for many hours. I think I was 10 levels above the starting fodder and they were still damage sponges. I really couldn't care less how good the game looks when it plays like mobile garbage.

Nice graphics and engaging combat/exploration but unfortunately it suffers from the same issues every gacha game has which is endless running around and boring story/dialogue. You talk with person A, run to person B to talk, then run back to person A to tell them you spoke to person B. Now imagine that being every second quest.

Great game for the price, but a bit repetitive at times. Users who give this a 0 are just being disingenuous.

The "Awakening" is realizing you just wasted $30 on a mobile corpse. Score: 1 / 10 If you ever wondered what happens when a developer panics, strips the casino out of a dying mobile game, and tries to sell the remaining skeletal remains to PC gamers for thirty bucks—welcome to Dragonsword: Awakening. This isn't a video game; it’s a forensic cleanup site of a failed gacha **** Gacha Ghost Town Hound13 proudly announced they "removed the microtransactions." Sounds great on paper, right? In reality, it’s a disaster. Imagine a theme park where they removed all the rides but left the ticket booths, the endless queues, and the overpriced hot dogs. The entire game is built around mobile-game architecture. You are still collecting duplicate heroes. You are still staring at 50 different red exclamation marks on your screen. You are still logging in to claim daily digital garbage. But since there is no loot box to pull, you are forced to unlock everything through a soul-crushing, mind-numbing grind that feels less like playing a game and more like working a second shift at a data entry firm. They kept the chore, but took away the dopamine.Unreal Engine 5? More like Unreal Optimization 0The developers slap the "Unreal Engine 5" logo on the screen like a badge of honor, but the game looks like a upscaled PlayStation 3 title covered in a thick layer of **** Graphics: Textures pop in 5 seconds after you look at them. The open world is a barren wasteland of copy-pasted trees and blurry **** Performance: I am running an RTX 4080, and this game managed to turn my PC into a literal space heater. Frame rates drop to cinematic single digits inside the main city. It stutters every time you swing a sword. Optimization didn't just walk out the window; it never entered the building.Combat and Story: A Masterclass in BoredomThe combat is advertised as a high-octane action-slasher. It’s not. It is a brainless button-masher where enemies stand still and politely wait for you to cycle through your character cooldowns. There is zero weight to the hits, no tactical depth, and the boss fights have the mechanical complexity of a **** for the story? It feels like it was written by an AI that was fed a diet of generic light novels and then suffered a severe system crash. The localization is purely offensive. It is so clearly a raw, unedited machine translation that sentences frequently lose all grammatical structure. It makes Google Translate look like Shakespeare.VerdictDragonsword: Awakening is a cynical, lazy cash-grab. It is an unoptimized mobile port trying to masquerade as a premium PC RPG. Do not buy this. Do not wishlist this. If you accidentally bought it, press Alt+F4 and run to the Steam Refund button before your two hours are up.Pros:The "Exit to Desktop" button works flawlessly.Cons:Everything else.

This isn't a game; it's the ravings of a madman. What genius seriously decides to put gacha mechanics into a single-player game? *Arise* turned out to be crap, and now this? Koreans, stop churning out gacha games—it just doesn't suit you.

By some miracle, this **** manages to combine the worst of Genshin Impact and Dragon Nest while conveniently leaving out their best parts. So here's Hound13, desperately firing up Unreal Engine 5, trying so hard to recapture that Genshin + Dragon Nest magic – except they cheap out on literally everything they can. They straight-up copy-paste half of Dragon Nest's assets, give us a soundtrack that's dead on arrival, characters flatter than a cardboard box, and a plot that reads like a 5-year-old's make-believe. They rip off Genshin's combat and progression system, but somehow manage to **** all the fun and nuance out of it. Then they cram in Dragon Nest's ancient dungeon designs and pad the whole thing with endless, braindead enemy spam – because apparently wasting your time is the only "content" they could afford. And when Webzen and Korean players found out, Hound13 played the victim card. They took this steaming pile – which would've EOS'd in three months as a mobile gacha – slapped a "single-player" label on it, and put it up for sale just to recoup their losses. Guess what? It actually worked. Many unsuspecting players saw the shiny UE5 anime gloss and the woeful "poor studio" narrative, and opened their wallets like it's a charity drive. Then they booted it up and – surprise – it's all surface. A hollow, boring slog dressed in fancy lighting. tldr: Hound13 **** this time. Don't fall for it.
