I'll give Bioware points for trying to do something different in their world, but they really did have it right the first time in terms of character building and the scope of the story.
Faulty game mechanics and disappointing maps, combat scenarios and storyline direction aside, Dragon Age II still has a surprising amount of intrigue hidden beneath the blemishes. The depth of character relationships, as well as the complex nature of the world of the Dragon Age franchise are a savior to a game that would otherwise forever be remembered by its mistakes.
Above all, it seems like Dragon Age II is an experiment. If you're a fan of the first game and expect a direct continuation, either in story or mechanics, you'll be disappointed. If you're not willing to put up with some rough edges and some mechanics that don't quite work as intended, you'll end up having a hard time. But if you're going for a game that has some of the best storytelling in RPGs in a while, or you're looking for a BioWare RPG to tide yourself over until Mass Effect 3, you won't do much better right now than Dragon Age II.

I used to hate this one the most until veilguard came out. Both origin and inquisition are 9/10 for me. I'm beginning to think every other dragon age game is cursed to be crap. I remember I was so disappointed when I realized the whole game's just gonna take place in a city. I hated it! Not having different environment like the first games just made it so boring. The game is also much shorter than both origin and inquisition. They should've made veilguard this short too, maybe then I'd have finished it. Just kiding... I'd die of cringe.

Recycled content overload. Every house you enter looks the same. Enemies were the same. The characters were at least okay, better than some other RPGs.

The advancements in RPG mechanics would be enough to set it apart, but the real achievement of Dragon Age II is in the story-telling. I could point out the improved combat and graphics till there's blood covering my face, but BioWare is one of the few companies that uses the advanced computing power available to modern game designers to let you actually play a role.

Dragon Age Origins was an enormous mouthful in a time where huge games are a rarity. Dragon Age II is somewhat shorter, but nevertheless a big game with an exceptionally well-framed story. Most of the new additions and updates are welcome, even if they don't put the game at the front of the pack. Easily recommended.

Dragon Age II is super dope man. While the first game is a master piece, and I would probably say is better, 2 does some things better. I know a lot of people prefer the combat of the first game, but I think I am partial to the more action feeling that 2 provides. The story is great and really expands on the world that the first game revealed to us. While the scope of the 2nd game feels smaller, that is not always a bad thing. We really get a lot of time to get to know the city of Kirkwall and feel the emotional weight behind the story

Gripping, complex, and delightful, role-playing games are rarely this good.

It really seems like the biggest mistake is calling it "DA2," as it's just different enough from Dragon Age: Origins to not feel like a sequel, but more like a reboot. The different main character, the faster and more streamlined combat, and the overall structure makes it feel like a fine Dragon Age adventure, but not a direct follow-up to DAO.

Dragon Age II unfortunately isn't the perfect sequel to Dragon Age: Origins. However the game itself is still very good, so lovers, unite!

Despite its game mechanics being streamlined to cater the console-audience with a high tempo and a smaller set of statistics, Dragon Age II is still a massive role-playing adventure. With its immersive storyline and good class system, it its yet another Bioware game in the collection of great role-playing experiences.

Defying all expectations, BioWare managed to take one of the most memorable Western RPGs in recent history and completely destroyed everything that made it so good.

Metto 10 solo perché vedere 4.7 a un gioco del genere non è possibile. Non è all'altezza del primo ma rimane un bel gioco.

The shortcuts due to crunch and a chaotic production are apparent. Reused map assets, less polished gameplay, more straightforward combat. Yet, the lore is deepened in an interesting way, and the decision to tell a generational story in an isolated location works like a good TV show bottle episode. Keeps the focus tight. The story really works.

Fun and Enjoyable game. Criticisms of it are legitimate, its clearly made in a rush off the previous game and all the areas tend to be repeats of previous. The game play tends to be just spamming buttons over and over again Main story is quite rushed particularly towards the end however characters are very fun and enjoyable.

it had great potential, wasted by rushing the devs and giving players an obviously unfinished, repetitive game
