Dollhouse has a fascinating universe, but poor gameplay and poor graphics that makes it a frustrating experience.

Dollhouse takes good ideas and puts them behind clashing mechanics. The randomly-generated landscapes all look the same, causing many issues with navigating and retrieving much-needed items. This pool of ideas lacks cohesion, and the minuscule payoff makes the tedium feel like a complete waste of time. Very little works in Dollhouse's favor.

A great concept does not automatically make for a great videogame, especially when the execution is this lacklustre. In this case, the repetitive gameplay, long loading times and awful graphics are the main detractors. The intriguing multiplayer set-up could've been a saving grace, but is ultimately hampered by a severe lack of players. Shame.

Excellent atmosphere and story, very bad gameplay. I wish they worked on it more, so that I could really enjoy it.

Very fun gameplay. Its very fun to play with friends but the story is spooky

Pros: Immersive story, great aesthetic, fun puzzles, and a new and interesting concept for a cat and mouse style game. Cons: Gameplay can get a bit repetitive, there were quite a few bugs on release (day two patch fixed any I encountered), and multiplayer remains in beta until a week after release. Overview:
In Dollhouse you enter the mind of Marie, who has amnesia. You have to collect film canisters and extract memories and later decide which memories to keep or destroy. Mannequins, and the antagonist "It" are constantly pursuing you, but sightswap/focus lets you see from the eyes of "It" and ping memories. Dollhouse uses procedural generation to keep the game fresh each chapter, and the house and hospital levels are especially creepy. Devs took a risk with trying a new concept, and I think it paid off. Unfortunately the initial bugs on launch have hurt reviews, but the team is active in communicating with their community and patching quickly. Absolutely love this game, I have gotten two different endings so far and after the first patch it ran smoothly at 60fps. The 1950s noir aesthetic and refreshing focus on narrative have won me over.

Several interesting ideas and game mechanics have been totally wasted in this first person psychological-terror adventure plenty of bugs and technical issues.

Dollhouse begins with a lot of potential, but after a few levels of repetitive gameplay, the horror elements start to lose their impact. What starts as a trip through a disturbed mind quickly becomes monotonous, and Marie's story suffers as a result.

Dollhouse has some interesting ideas, but currently there are to many bugs, including some game-breaking bugs. When it works, its repetitive nature shows up, and even if the developers fix the bugs, we don’t think we would have a particularly good game. At least for now, if you’re interested in the game, wait for a few patches.

An incongruously designed mess that should be avoided at all costs. Awful framerate, poor storytelling, and monotonous mazes make Dollhouse one of the worst games in decades.

SummaryThis haunting horror game draws you into the mysterious atmosphere of film noir. Delve deep into the mind of Marie, a detective trying to unravel the secrets of her past, memory by memory. Use the ‘Focus’ feature to see through the eyes of your pursuer as you try to survive a suspenseful game of cat and mouse.
