Far better than people have been saying. This is nowhere NEAR Curse of Osiris or even Shadowkeep in terms of lack of content/content reuse. There's a new destination, Kepler, that's fully fleshed out with a longer than normal main campaign, a grindable destination activity, and a bunch of side quests and secrets (admittedly these are mostly fetch quests, but there's some neat story stuff with every one so I'd say they're worth it). There are three new "destination abilities" that spice up the gameplay a bit, but don't expect any really crazy puzzles or combat changes from them. The story is good, especially for Destiny. It drags a bit in the middle and there are a handful of times where the clearly wrong line of dialogue plays, which can get a bit confusing, but it's still a compelling hook for the next saga overall. The weapons from Kepler are quite good and I've had a lot of fun playing with them/working them into builds. Given that this is only half of the year's paid content, and there are also four free updates, one of which has already come out, I'd say this is a great start to the Year of Prophecy and worth your time. There's a lot of hyperbolic negativity out there surrounding this expansion, and most of it only applies to hardcore fans who care about grinding. They have some fair points, but given that Bungie is already working on their feedback, that sort of stuff shouldn't be a deal-breaker for anyone imo. Thanks for reading!

This is a blizzard of balls! I can’t believe humanity was capable of degrading itself so low as to produce such an insulting catastrophe of ass!

Don't let the haters and low scores fool you! The only way Bungie could have made this expansion even gudder is if they had focused more on Osiris & Saint's love story. It's not FF7 Rebirth level of storytelling & gameplay, but that's a difficult level to achieve. Facts. Edge of Fate is so much gudder than Final Shape, it's almost impressive. I especially like that Bungie made old armor obsolete to force players to spend hours grinding away in an even crappier...I mean "gudder"...system than before. The new armor tiers make sure to let me know who all the Bungie fanboi uber losers are, which I'm super grateful for, because all of their gilded titles, adapted weapons, Guardian ranks and fart huffing weren't enough of an indicator for me to know how bad I am. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go back to the tedium of touching grass & living my life, because I'm so bad at this game that I make the Witness look like a boi scout asking for extra homework during Sunday school. Gud day.

Hi everyone been playing since D1 and this is my review... the edge of fate is well something.. not perfect that right but not horrible.. story rise for me it's one of the best expansion its well written and keep you interested. But gameplay wise the is nothing left to improve in destiny 2. Bungie need to realize that we need Destiny 3 we need a breath of fresh air gameplay wise and I really hope in my heart that with the conclusion of the fate saga we will see destiny 3 because destiny 2 is slowly dying because of himself..

I wish I could give a better score but my score is based off of fun and new content. When I finished the campaign I looked up what to do to level and it’s the same ****. Come on I get that reused assets every game does but damn it is the only thing Bungie does anymore. I fell in love with this game at the taken king and have paid full price for everything since to support this game and the developers. I will not be putting another dime into it though.

One of the worst expansion ever. Destiny 2 isn't dying, it's already dead and done. Game over.

This is my first time reviewing anything in the Destiny IP, but wanted to jump on here because this one was really a hit for me, and I'm hoping a lot of the negativity is just vocal minority noise. At a kind of embarrassing 2.7k hours on D2, this is up there as one of my favorite xpacs in the series so far. Lore is on point. No need to say much here. Just great job on making a new story arc so engaging. Some of these were the least compelling characters/entities in the game to me until now, but I'm actually invested and excited to see where it goes from here. The gear/stat freshen up is going to keep me really busy. I can see how some people are mad about having some of their long-time builds and favorite gear get pushed aside, but mixing it up like this is a huge win for me. Very excited to see how new stat interactions line up for new build diversity, which is one of the most compelling reasons for me to get back into D2 after a break. One of the biggest complaints I see is the grind... I'm all for it. I haven't slammed my way though the game to rush to the highest power lvl yet, and maybe I'll get worn out and join that bandwagon over time, but for now, I see meaningful rewards from any activity I do, not just the hardest endgame content. I can get some upgrades even if I just want to hop on for 30min and do a chill activity or two, and have a goal ahead of me with being to access more difficult content down the road. Theres purpose to the journey and to the goal, and that goes a long way for me. Lastly, the patrol zone is one of my favorite things about this xpac. The regional abilities do a lot to freshen up some of the old mechanics that I've been seeing for years now, and the fact that there's so many nooks and crannies to explore is something that I've been missing in this game. Coming from older mmos, particularly GW2, I always enjoyed wandering around an area looking for easter eggs or secrets. That's something D2 has always kind of lacked aside from a few scattered collectibles. This map really scratches that itch for me, and adds a lot of replay value with the adjustable difficulty as well. Great direction, love where the game is going, and while I'm not a new player, I think the adjustable difficulty and the new portal may help ease in newer players much better than the crash course I had a few years ago. Great work here Bungie!

Lore and narrative cooked, gameplay AT THE START was matterspark-forced repetitiveness and thats what turned most people away. The end of the campaign is great and matterspark becomes a lot more bearable when given access to the 3rd upgrade Theres no point in acting like D2 is in a good place, especially considering the launch was riddled by a thousand bugs and not much seemed to be tested at all, like the raid Should have been $30 IMO but hey Solstice is a W

Destiny 2 is my favorite game of all Time but the lackof passion from the studio is making it hard on me to recommend the game to new players or excpect my clanmates to return. an expansion worth 40 $ with 0 new content beside the meh ! campaign and the raid comparing ro what we used to get which was also not much is crazy. we used to get more than this for 40$ and it wasnt enough . Its obvious the studio does not respect the community and rely on nostolgia baits. at this point I wish sony takes over eventhough Im not sure if thats gonna change anything. Thats not the bungie we knew that made Halo or even taken king with all its flaws.

Destiny 2 edge of fate looked pretty boring at the start with the first hours being how to use the mechanics of how to use the new abilities and seems boring but after you learns the basics the game becomes more quick with fun puzzles and a good narrative that really gets ur attention

First off, the systematic changes and the firing range are free for everyone, so I don't understand why people include them in their review of EoF. Campaign: starts slow but gains momentum in the second half and is pretty decent (Taken King, Witch Queen, Red War, and Forsaken are better, IMO). Kepler: It's the low point of the expansion. The dark matter mechanics are simply terrible and overused. The world tiers start great until you reach Mythic (the biggest bullet sponges I've ever seen).

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate had a giant challenge ahead of it's release. Continuing a franchise that concluded in the previous expansion. Story-wise, this is one of the bettercampaings we've had in the entire series. The high-quality cutscenes and general plot considered, they've hit a big homerun in my opinion. Gameplay-wise: veterans of the game know what to expect, fast-paced high-action gameplay that scratches something in my brain no other game has ever been able to. The new 'portal' as the center of the game seems like a good guided addition for newcomers (though I can't confirm) and therebalancing of the power level combined with the new tiered loot system has me comming back for more. Will keep playing and enjoying this franchise in it's current form.

Currently still learning the portal and while i am saddened that the destination tab is being left behind solo ops at least personally is some of my favorite content in a long time. I am not a fan of the ball mechanic and the new ammo economy is kind of restrictive, but otherwise i am enjoying the new content. I think the new weapons are some of the most unique and most fun to use in a long time. I think overall it is a mixed bag but mostly positive

I love Destiny. It’s my favorite game of all time. But the new leadership of Bungie has ruined this franchise. I tried the new mission, reflected on how much I love this game, and uninstalled it from my PS5. They completely sunset all of the gear veteran players have earned - reinventing all of their systems and loot. The largest issue for me wasn’t even the complete reset - it was the reset coming with no content or effort. The precedent made by this studio and all of their expansions for Destiny have come with new destinations filled with lost sectors, public events, quests, secrets, and exploration. The expansions came with multiple strikes and PvP maps. The expansions came with hundreds of new legendary gear items and cosmetics to chase. The annual package deal of Destiny content came witha new raid, a reprised raid from the DCV, two new dungeons, seasonal events, and four seasons/episodes of side content to sustain the audience until the next year. Edge of Fate and it’s year of content is coming with two “Shadowkeep or Rise of Iron” sized expansions and only includes two campaigns, a new destination completely void of activities, a single raid, a single dungeon, and about five archetypes of new weapons and armor to chase. It should be noted that both Shadowkeep and Rise of Iron came with a lot more content than Edge of Fate. I really hope the new leadership of this studio is replaced. I really want to comeback to my favorite game one day. I’ll comeback when Destiny is being produced by people that are passionate about producing it and a studio that is willing to invest time and resources into making it a great experience.

This has probably been the worst experience I have had playing destiny and I have been playing since the launch of d1. The entire campaign is just using the new matterspark to do puzzles to progress through the mission. Every boss is the same with a 3 part health bar where you have to use the matterspark/ mattermorph to remove the bosses shield so you damage it for a bit until you have to do it again. I genuinely believe that bungie has purposefully made the campaign as long and boring as they could so that people would just rather spend the money on their other characters to skip it

Yikes. If this is the direction Bungie is going then Destiny 2 is dead. The campaign was miserable and the new “systems” Bungie implemented all but neutered players. The matterspark was boring and gimmicky. The slime garbage so I could “build” new ways to get to other places was boring and the fact it can only happen on Kepler is insane. The new weapons are few and far between with only a select few being at all viable but realistically the weapons you have in your vault are much better. The post campaign activities are basic retreads of previous activities. Kepler is the ugliest place they have ever created and you can’t even use your sparrow. Overall this is the worst expansion ever and if this is what they are giving us for $40 then I’m scared to see what they are going to give us with that lame Star Wars crossover DLC, Renegades, in 6 months. If you have t bought either expansion, do yourself a favor and wait a few weeks as it will likely be half off or better.
