Death Road to Canada is a quality game with a good deal of depth, both with the characters and the gameplay proper. The developers have made something that is both familiar and different, both weird and understandable. It takes a bit of time to grasp everything it has to offer, but it’s a game that is worth coming back to again and again. Gamers looking for a roguelike action RPG will especially enjoy this 8-bit survival tale.

When it originally launched on the Switch, it had some performance issues and a poorly thought out icon on the home screen but both of these have been fixed since then. Now, Death Road to Canada is in my goto Switch games that I play while travelling alongside The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ and Enter the Gungeon. If you enjoy roguelikes, this one is super fun and pretty damn polished.

This game is fun. I would highly recommend this game for people that enjoy Binding of Isaac or enter the gungeon but in this game you are not encouraged to kill every Zombie. You are reminded to avoid and run to conserve bullets when you can. I paid 8.99 and i bought it twice (ps4,Switch) I have no regrets. It's a fun addicting game. the greatest thing about this game is the custom characters, you can add everyone you know and they join the adventure. The only things I would change is the over all look is done in that 8 bit style which i am sick of. it would look better in 16 bit. 8 bit ****... but maybe it's because I am older and remember playing 8 bit when it was all that I had. I also think there should be more weapons, more of everything. If you're gonna do random, make a ton of weapons and items. But anyways, what do i know. Looking forward to a sequel!

The tough difficulty spikes found can be off-putting, but if you love a good challenge then this could be the game for you. Death Road To Canada is easily one of my favourite surprises on the Switch currently.

Death Road to Canada is another in a long line of solid indie titles on the Switch. Great fun on the go, loads of replay value, and lots of fun as a 2-player co-op game give this one the legs that'll make the cheap $15 worth the spend.

Death Road to Canada is a title that chooses to change the current horror genre by bringing together RPG elements, lots of action and a well-crafted and very detailed retro art style. Certainly, it is one of my favorite indie games this year for switch owners.

The wacky narrative escapades in Death Road to Canada are where it excels, but it falls apart when you actually want to progress. The brutal, random nature too often made me feel like I had little agency in my quest, which made it hard to really care about ever making it to Canada reliably. The reward for my death road was the unusual tales I created along the way, not the gameplay.

Death Road to Canada attempts to offset the normally dark themes of the zombie genre with zany characters, a charming pixel art style, and poppy music, but the lack of depth to its combat and randomly generated content will quickly leave you feeling frustrated and unsatisfied. There is some fun to be had here for sure, which is definitely best experienced with friends, but that doesn't make up for its issues and overall lacklustre action.

I never really played these type of pixel of games at all. This game changed my view of this. what an amazing game. The soundtrack is the best part of the game for me. Just a good vibe for a couch coop or single player change of pace game. The only negative I have is could use more areas or houses to explore.

The RNG in this game makes me want to cry in a corner but besides that it's pretty good. I made one of my custom characters Mike Wheeler. Just wanted to add that.

I got my money's worth, and I'm sure I'll pick it up again from time to time.. but the difficulty is just too high. There are too many random events that result in your untimely doom. The permanent bonuses you can buy with in-game currency (not freemium, thank goodness) don't offset this enough. I think I did at least 10 runs and only got to the border of Canada once, at which point I was alone and absolutely DROWNING in zombies.

At first glance this game seems fun, but after while it's very repetetive. I can recommend Organ Trail (but unfortunetly it's not avalible on Switch), but not this one. Rocket Cat please give us Wayward Souls on Switch
