Corsair Cove is not only one of the most successful pirate-themed games, but it is also undoubtedly one of the best strategy games of recent years. It manages to appeal even to players who do not specifically seek out this genre.

Corsair Cove is a charming pirate-themed city-builder that pairs satisfying island management with gorgeous environmental design and lively worldbuilding. While repetitive naval encounters hold it back, its personality, vertical island-building, and rewarding progression make it an enjoyable adventure that's easy to sink dozens of hours into.

Gameplay-wise, this is far more than just Anno with an eyepatch. It is entirely its own beast, pulling off a brilliant, peg-legged balancing act between city-building and exploration that constantly hooks you into near-endless play sessions.

Corsair Cove cleverly combines city building with seafaring exploration and alternates enough to prevent either from getting stale. With a beautiful environment combined with a sizable tech tree, there's plenty to keep you entertained here.

Corsair Cove is a picturesque and complex building game that combines strategic construction with an atmospheric pirate setting, bringing a breath of fresh air to the genre through exploration and turn-based combat. Even though we run into a few obstacles along the way, this charming buccaneer colony holds its own against genre giants like Anno.

A fun city-builder that particularly impresses with its vertical construction, though it squanders some potential in its adventure component.

Dodgy optimisation and few endemic genre issues aside, Corsair Cove is a solid resource chain manager with some excellent city building tools, paired with a simple but charming seafaring RPG.
