Mucho ha cambiado la industria desde la aparición de Call of Duty (2003), un título que reformuló el concepto de shooter bélico heredado de Medal of Honor en PS1. Sin embargo, ya aquí se encuentran muchos de los pilares que definirían el género: la selección y el peso del armamento, la física de las armas, la influencia del entorno, el comportamiento de las granadas o la importancia del posicionamiento. El nivel de realismo que alcanza para su época fue profundamente innovador y, aún hoy, demuestra no estar anticuado; al contrario, transmite una seriedad en su aproximación al medio que muchos títulos posteriores han perdido. Donde el juego destaca de forma decisiva, además de sentar las bases mecánicas, es en su tratamiento histórico. Las misiones no solo respetan los acontecimientos canónicos, sino que sitúan al jugador en el centro del conflicto de manera cruda, visceral y directa. En este Call of Duty no eres un soldado invulnerable, sino una pieza más dentro de un pelotón. En dificultad veterano, el juego te obliga a comprender la guerra como un espacio de confusión, fragilidad y error: morir es fácil, desorientarse es habitual y disparar a un aliado es una posibilidad real. Dicho de otro modo, es uno de los pocos videojuegos capaces de transmitir con honestidad los horrores del conflicto bélico, convirtiendo una experiencia dura en algo no solo jugable, sino profundamente inmersivo. Un acierto absoluto en todos los niveles de diseño.

I'm a huge fan of the Call of Duty series—each game impresses me with its advanced technology, creative gameplay design, and high production quality. It's clear that a lot of effort goes into making each title better and more immersive than the last.

No me esperaba mucho la vdd, nunca me llamo la atención la saga cod . Pero la ambientación y las mecánicas que tiene este juego, son una locura. La batalla de Stalingrado es puto cine .

If you’re into war games, but not usually an FPS player, you should definitely give Call of Duty a shot - you’ll be gobsmacked. If you are into FPSs and you liked Allied Assault, you’ll have exactly the same reaction.

The game has a good story and good gameplay for the time. However, those times are long gone and this game cannot live up to modern standards. You get what you pay for and any reviews over 7 out of ten are most likely due to the individual’s nostalgia for it. This review does not take into account of nostalgia, the age of the game or the price but solely on quality.
