Bombastic
While what's here is very good, the problem is that there are perhaps twenty seconds of original composition in the whole game! The rest just loops for all eternity, prodding you to skip past menu after menu just so you can escape the irritation of not-quite-grinding guitar and the like.

It's a great puzzler. Definitely a little weird, but most certainly good. [Sept 2003, p.109]

Bombastic is a very clever puzzle game. You have to run/roll around a die to create explosions(like Bomberman) and score points. Along with your usual high scores and multiplayer, the game has a quest mode. It's fairly short, but challenging and worth a try. The graphics could be better, and the game length could be longer. Regardless, it makes rolling around a die more fun than ever!

For anybody with even a minor bit of gaming background, this is a highly addictive, incredibly brilliant puzzler that has enough depth, ingenuity and depth to keep you going for months.

What initially seemed overly mathematical and number-crunchingly complex has now taken over my psyche. When I close my eyes I see pulsating dice in fabulous combinations. [Sept 2003, p.113]

The logic is complex, and the pacing is manic, but if you commit to the concept, the experience is undeniably exhilarating.

While the addictive qualities are still intact, the addition of explosives has slightly upset the delicate balance. Big combos here tend to owe as much to good fortune as they do to prudence and it can feel like you're over-working your brain for too little result. [Christmas 2003, p.124]

What Bombastic offers is a new take on a classic puzzle game. Unfortunately this new take is far too complex for its own good as it attempts to build on an already terrific game.

The game's fun however depends on the players' knowledge of how a six-sided die can be manipulated to have the desired number on its top face. It's not easy to do, and only after that hurdle is crossed can players enjoy any aspect of the game.
