BioShock Remastered is one of gaming’s all-time classics, and whether you’re experiencing Rapture for the first time or simply interested in revisiting it, you’ll be pleased to learn that the Switch version is every bit as solid as its counterparts on other consoles.
This is an excellent game that finally comes to Nintendo Switch. It stands out due to its graphics quality, its excellent storyline and the perfectly Switch-adapted controls. Furthermore, it comes with the whole pack of additional downloadable content. Its length, which is not very long, and the fact that some of the Switch characteristics have not been taken advantage of, as the HD rumble, do not tarnish this magnificent game.

A classic that I played for the first time nearly 20 years after its release. I had a blast playing it and didn't feel like I was playing an old, wooden, clunky game. The best part of the game is the story, complex and unpredictable. The level design is also excellent. Every corner felt original. I think the remastered version will be worth playing even 10 years from now.

This game would be a ten, if the gun play didn't age poorly. Everything about this game (besides the gunplay) has aged beautifully. The environmental storytelling, the sound design, the plasmids, the story, the 1930s-40s music, this game will forever be the best in the series.... since wtf happened to infinite.... (I don't hate that game as much as others though.)

I never had incredible interest in the series, but was told to play it for the story. I bought this game twice: PS3 and PS4, but never finished it until this Nintendo Switch port. Given the scale of this game, I love being able to play it on the go. I'd bust it out at work or in waiting rooms, then easily stow it away until my next sesh. Visually, this game runs well and has excellent atmosphere. It suffers from a sign of the times: there are a lot of dark and muddy colors because making it harder to see makes it spookier. I enjoy traversing the map and the game does an excellent job keeping me on track. Several times, I found myself overrun by a mob, but after a little trial and error I'd eventually succeed. The voice acting is top tier, the characters have depth that make them feel alive. I dare say that the in-game models are a bit underwhelming compared to the gravity it felt in the voice actors' performance. The game doesn't over stay its welcome, but about 3/4 the way through the story I felt as strong as I was ever gonna get. There wasn't much fear of loss or death by that point in the game; however this could have been because I chose to harvest all of the Little Sisters on my first play through. Interestingly, I managed to avoid a lot of spoilers over the past decade or so and genuinely felt bad after harvesting them once I got to THAT part. Another sign of the times, I feel like this game controls extremely clunky in the beginning, but once you warm up to the pacing and aiming it works well. It's odd though, because it's 2K brethren series Borderlands has dang near perfect control. This game was a fun time. I don't foresee me playing it again, at least not anytime soon. I'm happy to have experienced this game.

The world building, lore, and atmosphere are some of the best that I have ever seen in a video game. The game also runs very well on the switch, and look just about as good as one might want it to. The only real problems are that the combat (and other parts of the gameplay,) feels somewhat janky, and it starts to drag on a little bit towards the end. I rate this game a 8.5/10 (rounded up to a 9,) and highly recommend checking it out, especially if you see it on sale, like I did.

Bioshock is one of the best games in terms of atmosphere, gameplay, subtle storytelling, and even horror aspects. The great worldbuilding is something that no one can overlook, the amount of love and care this game has had on its development truly shows and delivers just as great

Bioshock Remastered for the Nintendo Switch is nothing short of an incredible experience. This was my first time playing through a Bioshock game and I had very limited knowledge regarding the franchise as a whole. I purchased the Bioshock collection and started up the first game. I was immediately **** into the dark and complex world the game designers masterfully created. The atmosphere was stunningly detailed and everything from the art-deco architecture to the eerily jolly music worked in perfect unison to establish the fully realized and fleshed out city of Rapture. The game ran smoothly with only minor drops in framerate and the occasional technical glitch. Gameplay wise, the first-person-shooter format allows the player to be fully immersed in the story and oftentimes feels like a movie/video game combination, with controllable cutscenes and top-notch voice acting. Playing on medium difficulty proved to have its challenges, however, I felt the difficulty overall was scaled appropriately. Combat was fun and engaging and the game provided many different options for the user to experiment with in regards to defeating each enemy. Where Bioshock truly shines however, is the story. The plot was constantly captivating and the story marvelously unraveled before the player's eyes, with difficult decisions and grim twists that make the game feel sinister yet intelligent at the same time. I was never bored or uninterested in the different quests that make up each level as they all felt relevant to the central story the game was trying to tell and only gave the player more time to explore the carefully crafted world in front of them. My biggest issue with the game was the length; I beat it after only 5 days. This 'issue' however is more of a testament to how much I enjoyed playing and how much I would miss exploring the many buildings and passageways the game had to offer. Overall, I would definitely recommend Bioshock for anyone looking for an entertaining yet chilling gaming experience. The world that Bioshock creates and the story that unfolds are not to be missed and make Bioshock a great game to add to any collection.

It was my first time playing this franchise, since I always had my eyes on it, but I've never got a final push to get it. It was a lot darker than I thought it would be but overall I really liked that Bioshock had such a heavy and deep atmosphere (I played it late in the darkness). IT WAS A MARVELLOUS EXPERIENCE! Framerate wasn't dropping and the game played smoothly. It was my first FPS on a controller and it does the job in teaching shooting with analog sticks. It doesn't have a gyro aiming controls but it's still a great game. Plot was deep and it **** me in for good. Little sisters were a little weird and big daddies were hard at first, but with the right amount of time I got used to them. I would risk saying that Bioshock is a short and sweet game, perfect for people with limited gaming time. I was like that and I really liked that I could save the game nearly whenever I wanted. Great port with good graphics and nice framerate, audio was fine/good but it could be better. For me great start to the new (but old) franchise in my life! 9/10, -1 for the aspect of downloading some game parts even while I got a physical release.
