Not since Astro Bot in 2024 have I played a game that has made so much of an impression on me, and the hours I've put into completing Big Walk with a friend have not only provided endless entertainment, but also further solidified that friendship, even if, at times, my co-op partner was left incredibly frustrated by my brainless moments or when I decided to punt a key item off a cliff, purely because I could.

I think what Big Walk does that’s so compelling is that it grabs the little part of your brain that is begging to be enriched by curiosity and interaction and massages it ever so gently with your friends as the background. That is not something that you can simply drop people into and hope happens, it is meticulously crafted and planned by expert hands.

A funny, exciting, and deeply rewarding multiplayer adventure that combines knockabout fun with some surprisingly big ideas.

Big Walk is completely unique and unlike anything you've played before. Between the inventive puzzles and an island begging to be explored it'll become the new group obsession for you and your friends.

Forged in the lineage of hiking simulators like Peak, A Short Hike and Baby Steps, Big Walk is a charming, multiplayer expedition about the simple joys of hiking with friends. While there are plenty of quaint puzzles to solve, the crux of the hike is about exploration and discovery- but without the dizzying adrenaline. You may even be inspired to embark on your own real-life hikes, too.

Evolving the social game format in a way that feels almost unrecognisable, House House has produced something that is as compelling as it is confident in achieving what it set out to achieve. With huge regard given to player freedoms, this title powerfully examines and challenges communication in a way I’ve not seen before in a game and may never see again. Grab your friends, go in blind, remove all other distractions, and experience a game world at the top of its class.

Big Walk takes fundamental and timeless video game concepts–obstacles and incentives for clearing them–and, through an intensely focused co-op experience, shapes them into something singularly rewarding, supremely mysterious, and totally unforgettable.

Big Walk is the kind of game you wish you could forget the moment you finish it, just so you could experience the joy of discovering it all over again. House House perfectly achieves its goal of delivering a highly social game, whether you’re out exploring and wandering or tackling puzzles. There is a touch of delightful eccentricity combined with unmatched craftsmanship in how the game engages your senses and an intriguing approach to virtual movement—all of which make this unique experience one that will stay with you for a long time. Find some enthusiastic playmates and dive in; it’s the best decision you could make this summer.

In the nine hours it took my crew of three to see the end of Big Walk, though, it felt like we had made a real journey together. We laughed a lot and came up with many absurd puzzle solutions that still somehow worked. Big Walk's excellent finale effectively brought the message home: more than anything, this was our shared walk.

Big Walk delivers on a promise that's rare in cooperative games: nothing here is scripted, and the funniest moments are ones the game couldn't have planned even if it wanted to.
