Having finished the original release on the Switch, I decided to continue my save file on the Switch 2 edition and go for 100% completion. It was a very big time commitment, but worth every minute. The Zelda Notes app made it very enjoyable to go for completion with its voice guidance and maps. I enjoyed everything from doing all the shrines to completing the Depths, all of the caves, finding all the Korok seeds and so much more. I never got bored. The game looks very crisp and runs smoothly on the Switch 2 in 4K60. The controls are basically perfect. Tears of the Kingdom is one of the most polished games ever created and Nintendo has put a lot of love into the development of this game. The game also relaxes me whenever I play it, to the point that I would even consider it to be a "cozy" game. The world is beautiful -- surface, sky and depths -- and interesting and full of surprises. Even at 270 hours into completing the game, I was still occasionally discovering new things that I haven't seen before whether it be new foods, creatures or places on the map. There were many moments where I thought "wow, I don't think I've ever been here before," even after playing for over 200 hours. I enjoyed the ultra hand abilities and building devices, despite the criticisms expressed by other players. My only minor gripe is that I do wish the game was a return to form of the older Zelda games with proper dungeons and a more linear story progression. But that's okay, because regardless, TotK is one of the best, if not THE best open world game ever made.

Many aspects of this game are broken and there are frequent glitches. The collision is not good as you will drive right through some objects. The default audio volume is insanely loud, to the point I had to turn my receiver's volume down by 15 dB just to get it to a normal volume. The concept of the game is cool, but execution isn't good. The story, characters and dialog are pretty cringey. The world map is not great and the graphics are very underwhelming for the most part. There are only about 6 different types of missions and it gets quite repetitive. The soundtrack is very cringe and repeats like every 20 minutes. There's only like 7 songs. I had to turn the in-game music volume down by 50% because it was loud and annoying. The controls are not great, particularly the bike handling. Even within the menu, there is lag time. The game doesn't even track your progress. It would have been nice to know how many missions I completed as I progressed through the game. One annoying bug was that if I was at a mission marker and wanted to go into the menu to purchase necessary items to proceed with the mission, the game would place me in a random location away from the mission marker after exiting the menu, then I'd have to drive back to the marker. The game needs a lot more polish, variety and improvement. Some of the missions were fun, but not enough to offset the numerous glaring issues with the game.

The game could have used a bit more polish as I noticed a few typos in the dialog and some things were cut off on the edge of the screen. There were also a few minor bugs along the way, but no big deal. I really enjoyed most of the game and the level design, especially the tactical RPG mode. I had a good time with all genre modes. The game relies a little too much on nostalgia and throwback ideas, which I am well aware is the premise of the game, but it's just not quite my thing. The dialog and story is basic and I think the game could have benefitted from a few quality of life improvements. The overworld is very small, but cozy. Difficulty and length was just right for me. The music was decent, with a couple songs that I really liked.

This was my first ever Half-Life game and I quite enjoyed it. I played it on my Meta Quest 3 using the Steam Link app for wireless streaming from my PC and it was flawless throughout the whole game. The length of the game is just right and I thought the normal difficulty level was also just right. Combat was generally fun and many of the environments were surreal and even had the occasional eerie feel. The puzzles were pretty neat for the most part and I never had to resort to using a guide at any point in the game. There aren't too many weapons but the ones that you can use are cool and can be upgraded more than once. The VR aspect was amazing though a bit uncomfortable at times, but I gradually got used to it the more I played. I wouldn't consider the game itself to be groundbreaking or revolutionary in any way. At the end of the day, it's an FPS game that happens to be in VR. But it's an enjoyable one which I finished in 17.5 hours.

The story was masterful and I did not even play Part I. There was never a boring moment. The difficultly level was just right and the combat was pretty fun. Many of the environments were very eerie and dark, which I enjoyed as someone who likes horror. Sometimes it was a bit awkward to change weapons, but for the most part it worked just fine and was quick. The game can be a bit too stealthy at times, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The menus and systems are all very simple and don't take much time to learn at all. The characters were all very interesting and the acting and voicing was well done. The enemy AI was pretty stupid sometimes, but in a funny way. This game's strongest aspect is of course, the story, dialog and cinematics, which are top notch. I don't understand the review bombing, just because some people can't handle a certain type of relationship portrayed in the game. Seriously, get a life and worry about other things. I thought it was fantastic!

Ragnarok is at least as good **** as GoW 2018. I put over 50 hours into this game and actually enjoyed doing as many side quests as possible because they were actually fun. The level design, puzzles and objectives were great. The graphics are excellent. The game feels good to play on the DualSense controller and the controls are very smooth. Walking and combat feels satisfying. The combat is very fun and doesn't feel grindy. The story is pretty good, though I didn't entirely comprehend it all. At times, the game felt more like a movie than a game, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I really like the character Brok. The reviewers complaining about the game being woke are ridiculous, probably because there are a couple of black characters. Are they not allowed to be in video games?? Anyway, if there are any flaws about this game, I would say that the RPG elements, equipment menus and vast array of attacks and abilities can be a bit much to fully understand. There are numerous attack combos that you can unlock, but I only used a handful of attacks throughout the whole game because I can't remember 30+ different attacks which require various button combos. But again, you can progress just fine by sticking to a few favorite attacks. The game is not difficult, but just right, in my experience. I did think the voice acting was a bit cringey for certain characters. I am not really a fan of Atreus, to be honest. But at the end of the day, the game has a lot to offer in terms of exploration, side quests, fun, equipment and ability upgrades.

I enjoyed most aspects of this game and clocked in at 62 hours to play the main story and most side missions. The world is absolutely stunning and beautiful even in 2025. The characters and story were mostly great, though there were some disappointments which I won't get into. The game does a great job at emulating the wild west era and western life. The cinematics and voice acting are top notch, though sometimes it felt too much like a movie rather than a game. The combat is quite simple, but good enough. My top criticisms are the flow of the game and traversal within the open world. The story is rather linear and the missions are plotted on the map, but it's over an open world which is somewhat awkward. This gives the player very little incentive to explore the world You will be traveling by horse on the roads between missions, for the most part. It feels like playing a linear game in an open world which is not the case for other open world games like Zelda: BotW or TotK which encourage true exploration and you can progress however you wish. Sometimes I enjoyed the horse travel because it's a chance to observe the beautiful world and atmosphere. But sometimes it was just tedious. Fast travel does become available later in the game, but you can only use it when you're at camp (home). Therefore, I never used it. There are, however, stagecoaches that can transport you between towns for a small fee, which I used often. The controls were not that great and often confusing or awkward. Many missions involve shooting at enemies behind you while you're riding your horse. I didn't like the health "core" system. It was confusing to me. While I enjoyed the game from start to finish, I still feel like the "fun factor" could have been a little better if the combat was better, traversal was better and if there were less chores and maintenance to be done for your character and horse. Rockstar was aiming for realism, but sometimes realism can detract from fun.

I thought the concept was neat and the game definitely has some charming aspects to it, but I just had a very hard time getting into it. Not gonna lie, but it's hard to get into a game these days with primitive 80's graphics. The music was very uninspiring and didn't do it for me. I found the menus to be overwhelming and the fonts were a bit jarring. Exploration and battles were boring. None of the characters were interesting to me. I found it very annoying that when you move your character, the tiles are colored based on your character's field of vision. I don't see how it took 15+ years to develop this game, honestly.

I played the original game but just couldn't get into it. I figured to give The Pristine Cut a chance. I would say that I enjoyed it a little more but ultimately, I am confused about the story, the vessels and how the game flows. A lot of the dialog is just padding and just plain weird. I never really understood what the objective was. I do think the concept is interesting, but wasn't crazy about the art style or themes. The game is extremely short and can be completed in around 3 hours.

I love the concept and the nostalgia factor, having been alive in the 80's myself. However, it brings me no pleasure to say that in 2024, most of these games in the collection are hard to get into. The graphics, unfortunately, are so primitive that I had a hard time staying hooked. Among the 50 games, I counted only 11 that I actually liked. And among those, I had only beaten 3 of them. Most of the games are too difficult for me or don't offer the ability to save at certain points, requiring me to start the whole game over. I know there is a passcode terminal which may allow you to skip to the point in the game you got up to, but I never bothered. With that said, I really did enjoy Mortol, Kick Club, Block Koala, Camouflage, Campanella, The Big Bell Race (beaten), Warptank (beaten), Pingolf, Night Manor (beaten), Elfazar's Hat and Seaside Drive. Mortol II was a great concept, but I struggled to progress and lost patience. Cyber Owls was cool, too, but too difficult for me. But honestly, I would rather just play some games that actually existed in the 80's. Regardless, kudos to the team who put a lot of effort and love into these games, as it really shows. The pixel art is fantastic and some games have some good soundtracks.

I haven't had this much fun with a 3D platformer in many years. Outstanding level design, outstanding graphics and sound that really exhibit the capabilities of the PS5. The game makes excellent and fun use of the DualSense controller. This game is a PlayStation anniversary game that operates largely on nostalgia and PS fanaticism. It does that very well, but I do wish it was more **** themed game that didn't rely so much on nostalgia. The game is short for today's standards, as I beat it in only 10 hours. But it is a fantastic 10 hours due to its outstanding level design, power-ups and gameplay mechanics. The soundtrack is nothing amazing, but it fits the game perfectly well. Overall, this game is an absolute must play for anyone who enjoys 3D platformers. In my opinion, it is right up there with Mario and Sonic in terms of fun factor.

I tried to give this game a chance and thought the concept would be cool but within minutes I became incredibly bored and was overwhelmed with the narrative choices. I also became very confused with the flow of the narrative. The narrator is also super annoying. The art style is kind of neat but I ultimately ended up not liking it. The game also gets quite repetitive despite subtle changes in the story as I progressed. There seems to be some glitches with the controls. There is a ton of dialog, which unfortunately, I did not enjoy at all. I ended up skipping through it all starting about halfway into the game. It made no sense to me that you die but the story continues on, multiple times. Most of the dialog is nonsensical and abstract. Good thing I only spent 2 hours of my life playing this.

I can't say that I was ever bored, but I didn't really like the aesthetic especially with scan lines (I know you can turn them off but it looks even worse). The game does have a certain charm to it though. The game doesn't really have any combat or bosses, but it has a focus on exploration and puzzle solving. The items are cool and useful. Sometimes the backtracking was a real chore but not too time consuming as traversal is rather quick. The game design was well done with interesting puzzles and platforming involved. Almost the entire game has no music at all; not sure if this is a good thing but I would have preferred some sort of ambient BGM. I liked the dark, creepy atmosphere. The developers were probably trying to be innovative, but I still think the game would have been more interesting with some combat, bosses and music. My play through was 10.5 hours so it's not a big game but that's perfectly fine. There were a few times where I was truly lost and wasted so much time scouring the map looking for a new way to go, but had to resort to looking up guides in order to progress. The map can be hard to interpret and is just an eye sore.

Wow what a fantastic indie game that blew away my expectations. Literally every aspect is well crafted, well designed and useful. I have spent a total of 122 hours just to beat the game, which is phenomenal value for the already low price. This game is about managing resources, extraction, production and consumption of your settlement's population and fulfilling their needs and the orders of the queen. It really makes you think strategically and have fun while doing it. Although the learning curve is steep, I felt very capable after about 10-15 hours of gameplay. The more I played, the more I became cognizant of all the little decisions I was making and what the impact would be on my settlement. This game is also a roguelite, so each run is going to be different and rewarding. When you fail, you receive experience and resources to help you upgrade and advance on the next run. Others have mentioned that the game gets repetitive and boring. I have not really felt that to be the case because each run plays out differently and utilizes your upgrades along the way. Sure, the maps don't have much variety, but the way each settlement develops and the events that occur are going to differ each time, keeping things interesting. The game has little to no bugs and felt like a complete package. The graphics are simple and pleasing. The sound design is great. Be prepared for a lot of mousing and clicking since there are times where you really need to stay on top of what is going on in your settlement. There are also periods where you can relax and just watch your workers do their thing. The difficultly design is very well balanced and introduced to the player in a good manner. You start off with an easy difficulty and as you achieve the goals, the game requires you to step up to the next higher difficulty as a requirement to progress. You can't just play the entire game in "easy" mode. But the more you play, the more upgrades you will be able to make, and therefore make the game a little easier with each successive run. It does feel weird to "win" a settlement and then exit it and move onto the next one and start from scratch again, though you do have the option to keep playing the current settlement. But that's what a roguelite is all about. You achieve the goals and move on, which keeps things fresh. The game also allows for a high degree of creativity since you can design your settlement the way you see fit and take different strategies to achieve objectives. Things will be different for each player. The main game sure is time consuming, and I normally don't have patience for time consuming games, but this one was thoroughly enjoyable all the way because there's always something to strive for and you feel like you can just do a little better next time and progress.

I've been playing 2D Mario games since the 80's and although I enjoyed Wonder, for some reason it doesn't feel as magical as most previous installments in the series. I feel like this game tries to be too whimsical. Most of the power-ups are not that fun to use but I enjoyed using the different badges, which add a special ability to your character. I was not really a fan of the wonder seed effects within each level as to me, it distorts the genuine design of the level and just makes things too weird. I enjoyed the various "mini" levels which consist of badge challenges, search parties or KO challenges. The game has nine worlds in total and each world has a good amount of levels. As someone who likes game soundtracks, I felt Wonder was lacking, but I enjoyed the song in the first level of the game which is memorable. With regard to difficulty, I found the main game to be a bit on the easy side of things. I was able to play through the entire game without getting a game over and was able to beat all bosses on the first try including the final boss. Because of the game's general easiness, I ended up accumulating 20+ lives and hundreds of unspent purple coins. There are some optional levels which are very difficult and I could not beat. I did not play online at all so I can't say anything about it. The overall gameplay and level design is great and kept me interested and wanting to keep playing and that is all that matters and why I gave the game a favorable score. It's just not anything amazing or revolutionary. Great, fun game, but I think most people will have forgotten about it in a decade from now, but will never forget the true classics like Super Mario World or Super Mario Bros. 3.

May 17, 2024
I played the original FFVII back in the day so I went into Rebirth having certain expectations and was a bit disappointed with certain aspects of the game. I would not really consider Rebirth to be a remake, but rather an alternative rendition of the original. The graphics and sound are breathtaking although I did have to switch from 'graphics' to 'performance-sharp' mode since 'graphics' mode had a terrible frame rate. Unfortunately, 'performance-sharp' mode introduced some blur, but I did get used to it and the game still looked stunning. Although the sound qualities are excellent, I do feel that there were only a handful of songs that I truly enjoyed. Most songs, unfortunately, did not capture the same feel of the original game, which was dark and serious. But in Rebirth, much of the music casts a more light hearted tone; sometimes quirky or childish, even. Too many songs were "over" orchestrated and slow compared to the original. Maybe I'm just not that great at the game, but I had issues with progressing early in the game due to difficulty. I simply could not beat one of the early bosses on normal difficulty, so I had to change it to easy. But then, the game was too easy and essentially became a button masher and made some of the more special abilities less fun to use. On easy difficulty, I was able to progress through the game with no game overs and beat all mandatory bosses on the first attempt, with the exception of the final battle, which I beat on the second attempt. I wish there was a difficulty level between normal and easy. I honestly miss turn-based combat. Although the combat in Rebirth is dynamic and fun, it can feel like a mindless button masher with little strategy or thought required. There's too much going on the screen at once, making it challenging to fully understand what is happening all the time. Multiple characters attacking, numbers popping up, special effects and explosions all over the place. Turn-based was stress-free, organized and strategic. And easy to process. I don't know why Square Enix abandoned turn-based after FFX as that is what made the series great. The story, in my opinion, deviated greatly from the original and not really in a good way. There was a ton of padding and I was ultimately confused and couldn't really understand all that was going on. This is a multiverse plot, so there are multiple plots going on in different times and places with different characters, which confused me even more. Too many cinematics and too much dialog for my liking. I found many aspects of the game's offerings to be unnecessary and worthless. For example, the combat simulator, relationships with other party members, most side quests and I couldn't care less for the card game, Queens Blood. All of this stuff to me is just fluff and padding. It amazes me that Square Enix reimagined a 10-hour segment of the original game and extrapolated it into a 50+ hour playthrough. The game is littered with tons of stupid minigames that are mandatory in most chapters and even one chapter that is mostly minigames. Another chapter is almost entirely a battle arena event. I did enjoy exploring the various regions of the world, which had some fun objectives and discoveries, but they really didn't add too much value since they were mostly optional. I found Chadley to be a very annoying character who interrupted the gameplay on occasion. The game is full of tutorials from start to finish because there are too many complexities to deal with. I found the character building systems to be a bit too complex and hard to understand fully. Experience points, ability points, skill points, weapon level, party level, weapon abilities, folio manuscripts, synergy abilities, synergy skills, materia and a ton of character stats. It's just a bit too much for its own good and to expect the player to articulate everything is too much to ask in my opinion. A game should be enjoyable, not a chore. Also, I did not like the weapon and armor shopping experience. They don't show by how much the weapon or armor stats will change if you equip them. They only show what the stat will be after you equip. This made the equipment shopping experience cumbersome and annoying. Overall, I enjoyed my playthrough of Rebirth but really wish that certain aspects were better. I really feel that Square Enix is just milking the FFVII franchise and turning a 40 hour game into a 120 hour thing with padding, minigames, cinematics and excessive side content.

Wow what an absolute masterpiece of a remake and a game in general, having played the original in 2005. The whole game feels like it was made in the modern era; not so much like a remake. The characters, acting, dialog and story are excellent. The graphics and sound are stunning. The game makes great use of the DualSense controller. Every chapter is thrilling and never gets boring. I played the game on standard difficulty and found it to be just right. Challenging enough to be fun, but rarely frustrating. I really enjoyed the various systems such as crafting and treasure collecting, which felt fun and not like a chore. The game does a fine job at balancing simple versus complex. The cutscenes are all great and never drag on. The combat is fun and rarely ever feels grindy. The progression is mostly linear, so you won't be stuck wondering where to go next, most of the time. I played the entire game alone in the dark with surround sound for extra thrills. It's not a particularly scary game, except for some moments. But the vibe is definitely dark and creepy. Just not as horrifying as other installments in the RE series.

Wow. What an amazing experience this game was. The main game took me 59 hours to finish and there was never a boring moment! The world is huge and mostly interesting with little obstacle courses spread out and amazingly well designed puzzles. Combat is fun, but not too sophisticated. The character building system is fun and the follower characters are also fun to have by your side. Boss battles are fun and the difficultly level is very reasonable. I was able to beat most bosses in 3 to 5 tries. The story is fine, but nothing amazing. Pretty standard story with a villain and victims along the way. The weapons, armor and crafting are all fun and not overwhelming to understand and use. Even the lore was somewhat interesting. Controls are great and there are plenty of fun gameplay mechanics The only cons I can think of are that there are occasional performance issues and stuttering, but it's infrequent and doesn't affect the overall experience too much. There were a couple times during battle where the game froze for about 15 seconds. The game crashed on me once. There were some issues with the map screen not loading correctly or even coming up at all. The worst bug I encountered was a door that wouldn't open even though I hit the switch to open it. To get past the door, I had to go into the map screen and warp to a warp point beyond the door, which was ridiculous. Also, during a boss battle, I got stuck inside a pillar in the battle arena and couldn't get out, and the boss killed me. Even considering these bugs, I had a fantastic time with this game and would recommend it to anyone who likes action RPGs, especially in VR!

The concept of this game is a visual novel with RPG elements. A lot of reading and reading comprehension is required to truly understand what's going on. There are many decisions to be made, which I found to be overwhelming and can be highly subjective, so I stopped caring about decision making and just chose anything to proceed. The game was too complex with many menus, stats and attributes to be aware of. The only redeeming qualities are the artwork imagery, style and overall concept. I did not find the themes and story to be interesting at all and it was a lot to digest. My initial play through lasted about 4 or 5 hours until my clan was disbanded and I did not care to start a new play through. While much of the game felt like I was replaying Breath of the Wild, it really started to grow on me the more I played. The world is largely the same as in BotW but with some significant modifications for the better. I didn't care too much for the sky, but rather enjoyed exploring the depths, which is eerie and huge. The shrines were much fun and focused on solving puzzles. The weapon durability is annoying, however, it does encourage you to use different weapons, which can be fun when using the fuse ability to modify them. Ultra hand is cool and adds a whole new dimension to the gameplay; it's not a gimmick and is quite useful. The game doesn't have traditional temples, but I do feel that it makes up for that by having an interesting world full of different regions, numerous shrines and also wells, which is a new staple for the series. Traversal is quite good even without the need to use a horse. The horses are difficult to control anyway. The game offers a LOT of side adventures, side quests and shrine quests. I generally focused on the main game but did one or two dozen side quests here and there. This is the first ever main Zelda game to feature voice acting. The voice acting is okay; nothing special. As usual, Link doesn't talk. The graphics are slightly improved over BotW but not by much. The game may appear graphically outdated compared to other games on other platforms, but overall it looks fine and nice. The frame rate could be better though. Many assets from BotW are indeed recycled for TotK, such as musical pieces, certain characters, flora and fauna, items and enemies. I really think that this, and the fact that there are no traditional temples, is ultimately what prevents me from giving this game a 10. But it makes up for it by having plenty of new things like the depths, the sky, new abilities, etc.

The game looks incredible in 4K Dolby Vision on an OLED television. The story seemed to be well written, though I occasionally had trouble comprehending all aspects of it. Many people have criticized the combat for being "clunky" but I mostly enjoyed it and found it to be fun. It's plenty fine. The weapons, armor and crafting system is enjoyable. Weapon and armor durability is long lasting, unlike in certain other games (***cough*** BotW ***cough***). And I like how you never have to redo anything if you end up dying. The game lets you try again right where you left off. Overall, it's an easy game, though a handful of bosses put up a real fight. Most bosses I would beat on the first or second attempt, but a few had me trying up to 20 times, particularly in the expansion packs, which are not as easy as the base game. The music was good, though there aren't really many memorable pieces, but the soundtrack fit the game's environment and plot very well. The characters were all great and well developed. I liked the fast travel system and the quest log does a great job at organizing everything. I never felt completely lost or not sure where to go, except on rare occasion. I mostly played the main quests, but occasionally did a side quest and clocked in at a combined 67 hours for the base game plus both expansion packs. There is a LOT of content here, even sticking to the main game. You will have to make hundreds of choices throughout the game, so choose carefully. But for the most part, you can't really go wrong.

One of the best games ever is now better than ever on the Switch in 2023. It is more than just a remaster, but almost a remake. It could easily pass for an original developed Switch game with legit Switch graphics. The dual analog controls make a huge difference in gameplay. The soundtrack is almost completely intact from the original, which is fine and good. The game just has some of the best atmosphere of any game ever made. As others have mentioned, the backtracking can be annoying at times, and probably adds a few hours to the whole game, but it can be enjoyable anyway because you get to use your new abilities to traverse those areas again. Figuring out how to transport between each area can be tricky. It would have been nice if Samus can warp to her ship or something, at a minimum. The only reason I won't give this game a 10 is because some aspects of it have not aged well. Although the graphics are decent for today's standards, you can still tell that the general design of objects and environments are outdated. The environments are compact for today's standards and the game progresses quite fast. Special items are just waiting in a room to be found, which is kind of funny. The game relies on save points for saving the game and there are only 14 of them in the entire game.

Overall a great game with good characters, fun battles and interesting palaces to explore. However, 83 hours into the game, I made a choice that resulted in a "bad" ending. And there's no way to go back and try again, as it marks your save slot as completed. Very disappointing. The game had a LOT of padding and filler content that probably added a good 40 hours for nothing. Too much dialog and too long for its own good.

I really wanted to like this game and the world was interesting to **** first. Then it got a bit repetitive. However, about 70% into the game, I simply could not progress. The difficulty is simply too much to handle for me. I really tried everything I could, but after 70 hours I just got sick and tired of dying hundreds of times. I do not find this to be fun at all. if the difficulty was even 10% easier, that could have been enough for me to progress further.

Loved it. Gameplay was tight. The graphical style and music were pretty great. The progression was exciting and RPG like. It plays like a Metroidvania type of game.

I'm all for old school graphical nostalgia, but really wish there was just a bit more detail in the scenes. It was too pixelated for my tastes. The story was a bit too.....bizarre and convoluted.

I did not find the game to be funny at all. It was boring, pointless and felt like a demo. Exploring the mysterious office building was about the only interesting thing.

The story mode was a bit of a drag and I had trouble piecing it all together; it was very convoluted. However, I enjoyed Destruction mode which plays like an RTS game. The soundtrack wasn't spectacular but had a few good ones.

Very unique gameplay elements and a mysterious atmosphere. However, there's way too much dialog and you will spend most of the time reading through dialog. The ending was a major disappointment.

Excellent story, although convoluted at times. It's over a year since I finished this "game" and it has definitely been memorable.
