One of the best games I have ever played. Utterly mesmerising and mysterious. Hard, obviously, but one that gives you a reprieve here and there if you struggle. The in-game climate resembles eerie atmosphere of the Alien movies.

Mafia: The Old Country10
Aug 18, 2025
An excellent Mafia game. These days open world often is a nuisance so it's good thing that they got rid of it altogether. It wasn't well received in Mafia III anyway. There is an explore mode for the curious. The Old Country tells a well-written story set in Sicily at the onset of the last century. Gameplay is ok, I mean they didn't reinvent the wheel here, just went for proven formula of shooting, sneaking and driving. I enjoyed collecting thematically appropriate collectibles like photo ops, saints cards and newspapers that describe events of that era like reaching North Pole, new inventions or political turmoil that eventually led to the Great War.

a generous one star is only because base game is better than dlc. Otherwise it's just a garbage. Awful performance three years after launch. Primary school level lore. Big empty open world (it's doesn't really fit souls formula). Slow gameplay that contrasts with crazy agile, hyper-aggressive bosses. Meaningless journey through boring world. Waste of time.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree0

Complete garbage and a waste of time. That's what happens when developers' main goal is to frustrate player and fill the game with artificially difficult and often times reused content. A textbook example of the game which is hard for the sake of being hard. If you don't have hundreds of hours to grind in order to defeat one boss, don't even buy this garbage. Sure, it's doable if you are willing to commit your time and attention. But it's definitely not worth it.

Excellent expansion with some nice QOL improvements to the base game as well and difficulty settings in case you would like to play the game for the story. DLC expands on and explains many threads the base game had introduced. It features couple of interesting bosses and locations. It's more less half of the length of the base game. You can't do wrong with it no matter how you intend to play the game.

Excellent game. Perfect atmosphere, story, characters, setting, element of exploration, multiple endings. It preserves what made original game such a big hit. It's pretty long for a survival horror and new weapons and endings make good case for replayability. It's more combat heavy and action-oriented than I expected and - as far as I can tell - than source material but that is hardly a bad thing.

One of the best games I have ever played. I played it two years ago but still remember the layout of all maps. Top notch art design and music. It's sort of rogue-like but each run carries some progress even if you get taken out. When you finally piece together all the puzzles and clues and break the loop it feels really satisfying.

Alone in the Dark9
Apr 28, 2024
The game is surprisingly good save for clunky combat and not so enjoyable final boss encounter. They hired easily recognizable actors and splendidly designed the mansion/psychiatric asylum of Derceto. Each room is unique and is fun to explore. Throughout the game you'll make multiple excursions to imaginary worlds which have good variety. The game is also scary at times and makes you fear of being left alone in the dark. It features two playable characters and multiple endings so it does have some replay value.

Rise of the Ronin8

Good historical setting with plenty of historical characters from Bakumatsu and Meiji era. Interesting characters, each with different background and motivations whom you can bond with. Combat is easy to pick up but difficult to master as enemies can easily mislead you with their erratic patterns and delayed attacks. Unlike in most souls games this game features difficulty options so if you are in it for a story you can cruise through the game without problem. Open world is ok and oozes Japanese aesthetic. You can replay missions and chase different outcomes. (Some of) your decisions have consequences. On the other hand variety of gameplay is limited. Every mission involves fighting regular henchmen and one or more bosses. Equipment management is a nightmare because the game inundates you with stuff that you don't really need. In general this game sometimes can be overwhelming with its many mechanics. Graphics quality indeed resembles early PS4 days and performance leaves much to be desired.

Assassin's Creed II9
Mar 2, 2024
Still relevant and awesome in 2024. Game looks great considering its age. Story is fantastic and incorporates historical characters that either help you or work against you. There is a reason why Ezio has been fan favourite assassin since release of that game. It amazes me how faithfully cities like Venice or Florence have been rendered for a game from 2009. Optional assassins tombs add famous landmarks to the mix like Santa Maria del Fiore, Saint Mark Basilica, Santa Maria della Visitazione and diversify gameplay with more demanding parkour and timed trials. Modern day story is ok albeit short.
Game is not flawless though. Performance on PS5 is just 30 fps. Combat is sort of clunky and lacks fluidity. Stealth is meh (no crouching option). Archers on rooftops are annoying.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora9
Jan 25, 2024
It's an excellent game with beautiful world of Pandora. It looks like Far Cry but it has enough to set itself apart from Far Cry series. In this game an emphasis is placed on gathering resources, hunting for materials and clearing RDA installations. Story is simple but befitting the tropes known from movies. It promotes environmentalism. The game isn't flawless though. It's perhaps too long and bloated. Side activities are monotonous and time-consuming as you often wander around without clear directions. Finding correct thing sometimes resembles looking for a needle in haystack. Stealth can be unfair since entire outpost knows your position once one guy saw you. And finally though it's subjective I found the voice of main protagonist very annoying.

Ghostrunner6
Jan 2, 2024
Not as frustrating as DLC but frustrating still it is. This game revolves around trial and error gimmick, so you'll have to redo a section until you memorize the moveset and pull it off flawlessly. You'll die a lot and many of those deaths will feel cheap if for instance you get hit by someone off-screen. In this game one hit means instant death. Enemy accuracy and tracking are plain BS. This game doesn't live up to power fantasy expectations of being overpowered ninja. Instead it makes you feel like the runt of the litter because basically every enemy is stronger than you with OP bosses brutalizing you big time. Lack of manual save option mid-level is just disrespectful to players' time. On good side the game sports interesting world, the ascent to the top of the tower is gripping adventure, artistic design sets the game apart from other products on the market and the soundtrack matches the overall vibe of the game.

RoboCop: Rogue City9
Dec 5, 2023
It's a great game that remains faithful to the source material and offers nice introduction to Robocop universe. The setting is great and retrofuturistic, cyberpunk even to some degree Detroit looks gorgeous. Especially at night it gives off a Judgement Night vibe. Gameplay involves lumbering forward and shooting bad guys. Sounds monotonous? But what else would you expect? By definition Robocop isn't the Spiderman. With some upgrades you get dash ability to close the distance quickly. You collect notes and investigate clues to earn experience and level up. It's not a perfect game though. Facial animations are lacklustre and some bugs block the progress to the point that you have to replay whole chapter.

Stunning visuals, good story, excellent steampunk setting, ok gunplay.
On the other hand: lack of freedom, too many quick time events, close to no replay value and rather short runtime. Therefore if you are going to play, it it recommended that you get it on sale. It's sad we'll never get a sequel since it's clear that this game was meant to be first one in the franchise. Hence lack of closure storywise.

Demon's Souls5
Oct 22, 2023
It's an old game with outdated gameplay that has been given a new coat of paint. What's the point of remaking a game if you are going to keep everything that belongs to the past and was removed from subsequent From Software games? It all makes for not so fun experience.
Lack of bonfires or any checkpoints means that if you die you have to run entire level once more and kill all the minions once again. You can't just run past them because this game is full of narrow hallways with enemies standing right in the middle and your sword hitting a wall instead of an enemy. It quickly becomes tedious and encourages conservative approach to save time. If you used all of your health items (grass) and didn't manage to kill a boss, you have to farm them somewhere else because they don't regenerate after death. Collecting materials for upgrading your weapons is grindy as well. Most of the bosses are gimmicky and have one weakness that you have to discover and use against them. One of the later bosses delevels you if he grabs you. The first time I fought him I lost four levels. Yeah, that appears to be the message of early From Software: gaming should be pain, not fun. And this game mostly stays true to that principle. It even has a hilarious bug that if you invade someone else's game and they disconnect you may stay as a phantom in their world. If you then touch an archstone you inherit their world progress and lose your own. That's a gamebreaking bug that they did not fix three years since release and one that I fell victim to. I had to run the game second time to see the credits. Second approach is much faster though because if you know what to do and where to go the game is rather short. There are some positives: they game is breathtakingly beautiful especially Boletarian Palace (first archstone) and Tower of Latria (third one). Perfect dark fantasy setting. It also plays well if you don't have to grind for consumables, souls or upgrade items. Enemy variety is good and players have freedom to customize their own builds to suit their strategy.

Assassin's Creed Mirage9
Oct 13, 2023
good old-school AC game, a breath of fresh air in the midst of bloated recent entries. Features great setting of Baghdad of Islamic Golden Age and decent gameplay that emphasises stealth. The game is shorter than RPG titles and costs less. It's very polished product with no glitches and flawless performance. Story is ok with some plot twists. On negative side parkour could have been more fluid and facial animations are really disappointing - miles behind for instance TLOU and that game came out 10 years ago. Looks like Ubisoft did not really believe in the success of this project and was afraid of more serious financial commitment.

Very good game but not without the flaws.
Pros: flawless performance, lack of glitches, great setting, ambitious storytelling, top notch soundtrack, in short - they nailed climate. Cons: gameplay department is where controversies appear. People claim that game is too difficult (especially second half) and artificially difficult at that and they may have a point there. Still, I managed to finish it without experience in soulslike genre and with only average gaming skills. The game offers routes to cheese difficult encounters (spectres, wishstones that heal spectres, perfect guard grindstones, throwables). The final chapter outstays its welcome dragging on too long. No poise is annoying. Enemies' tracking is ridiculous. Enemies often use delayed attacks that are hard to read and predict and their patterns are erratic. Two phases bosses idea gets old real fast. Still if you persevere and "git gud" this game has a lot to offer and beating it feels satisfying.

A masterpiece of storytelling that excels at recreating of the atmosphere of post war America, the rebound of American economy, Red Scare and organized crime underworld. Features many tropes from noir movies of that era. Graphics hold up surprisingly well in 2023. Gameplay less so, as interrogation choices, driving AI and clunky movement can be annoying every now and then. Still it doesn't change the fact that it's a unique and criminally underrated videogame.

DLC is better than I anticipated it would be. It sports beautiful graphics, engaging story, fleshed-out quests and interesting characters. The length is ok by the standards of DLC and price tag of this particular one. The game does well in its trademark department - mix of sci-fi storytelling and tribal motifs. Walter Londra, main villain of this DLC, is even more deranged than the rest of Zeniths in a way that he tries to recreate his family and friends and become god to his chosen people. Final boss fight is very epic. Ubiquitous negativity about this game is difficult to understand.

The Callisto Protocol8
Jan 23, 2023
I came to this game a month after release and with low expectations. I wanted to spend some time in sci-fi environment and explore eponymous Callisto. That's where the game shines as you gradually get to know the backstory of Callisto and how a terraforming enterprise came to a halt and a prison was build instead. Game sports beautiful visuals and spot-on audio. Atmosphere is pretty tense so I found this game difficult to put down. You constantly want to know what awaits you in the next corridor or location. I consider story ok although I understand why some people might be disappointed in that regard. It's a simple story but a one that makes sense. You don't get to save the world. Your task is to survive, help your (not too numerous) buddies and get the hell out of Callisto. That's more less what everyone would do in similar circumstances. Gameplay is subpar while combat is just comically bad. Jacob is slow and to add insult to the injury most of the time game doesn't allow you to run. The movement is clunky even in performance mode. Camera is bad. Fighting numerous enemies is impossible. Dodging doesn't work. You can't move while in combat, can't turn back and run away to bide your time and approach the encounter in different way. Instead Jacob just stands there and swings with the baton occasionally shooting mutants. If your run out of ammo it takes forever to reload and it's close to impossible to switch weapon in the heat of the action. GRP is ok but battery longevity is way too short. Overall combat sounds and looks straight bizzare. I recommend playing the game on easy difficulty to spare yourself frustration. I played it on easy and I kind of enjoyed the ride hence relatively high grade.

Alien: Isolation8
Nov 11, 2022
Arguably the oddest game I've ever played. Oftentimes frustrating beyond belief but at the same time engaging. It offers substantial challenge to the players so beating it provides a sense of accomplishment. Assets of the game: - great graphics faithful to original Alien movie art design, - Sevastopol station is the star of the show. Its has gripping history which you want to know more about. It also has a retro-futuristic good sci-fi vibe to it. Alas we'll never live long enough to see if XXII century humanity will colonize outer space and set up space stations like this, - it has decent enough story - without going into spoilers department - albeit the conclusion feels a bit rushed and disappointing, - tense atmosphere fostered by spot-on audio, - wide variety of tools meant to help you deal with Alien, Working Joe's and human survivors. You gradually unlock new tools to make gameplay fresh, Shortcomings of the game: - very frustrating at times. Unpredictable nature of Alien guarantees many deaths that feel cheap and unfair. You almost get an impression that certain areas were meant to frustrate player, - game in general is very confusing. It doesn't explain properly game mechanics. With Alien on your back the game turns into trial and error where you die again and again because you didn't know what to do or where to go. Map can be confusing as well and you can't really afford experimentation and exploration. I got really angry when I lost good chunk of progress because I got randomly killed by Alien while reading documents at terminal. As if the game was saying: "Nope, we don't want you to get immersed in the game" and **** you, - repetitive nature of gameplay. What you're gonna be doing all the time is restoring power, starting generators, looking for keycards and running errands for your allies. It has a lot to do with another vice which is, - the length of the game. The gameplay does not warrant a game this long. It could well be truncated in half. Endgame feels really forced, - no manual save. Saving at designated points takes time and you are extremely vulnerable while trying to save the game. Overall it's still a good game with some reservations. I think criticism from some reviewers (especially IGN) is valid to certain degree. After all it is an exhausting slog but perhaps that was the point of the game to begin with? After finishing the game it's a time for some reconciliation and unbiased approach therefore I give it a generous 8/10.

A Plague Tale: Requiem9
Oct 22, 2022
Very good game with some flaws. It features engaging storytelling, decent progression system and most of the time solid gameplay. Since the last game they added Naughty Dog style set pieces as the environment around you constantly seems to be falling apart. Above all there is a sense of meaningful journey in terms of distance that you cover, enemies that you fight and the development of main characters. Side characters have their own minor story arcs and seem likeable. The quality of ending might be subjective but I side with those who claim it ended on good note providing poignant closure to the entire journey that encompasses two games - at the same time avoiding any major plot holes or inconsistencies. Eventually it's all coming together and starts making sense. As for the flaws - combat is as clunky as it was in the first game. Certain combat encounters in which Amicia takes on nothing short of entire army look absurd even for the videogames standard. Instead of dying instantly on contact with enemy - like in last game - Amicia can now withstand one hit from most enemies but there is a larger variety of them as some of them throw spears and fire projectiles from the distance while some of them charge at you head on. Fully upgraded crossbow with retrieveable bolts is way OP especially during later encounters. Weak performace is a big let-down. The game runs at 30 fps most of the time but every now and then it suffers from drops below 30 fps. The trade-off is that the game indeed is visually stunning but the lack of performance mode is a downer. On the good side - no game-breaking bugs and just one crash throughout the game.

Still very good game storywise. In-game Hong Kong is vibrant city full of cars, pedestrians, neon signs and narrow alleys inhabited by thugs. Game offers good variety of gameplay between intense kung fu bouts, shootings, car chases, tailing, bug planting and even karaoke singing. Granted, some textures are god-awful is you look really closely, car handling could have been better and odds are pretty high you may stumble on a few minor bugs, but for a couple of bucks that the game costs on sale it's a bargain.

very good game. It's kind of astonishing and refreshing how much story the game manages to tell during this rather short experience. No tedious grind, no boring fetch quests to artificially extend the length of the game. Despite playing as a cat and being limited in what your character can do (and say) the story is very deep and touches upon important issues. The graphics are very solid although I've encountered couple of moments of noticeable fps drops. The combat is rather limited which is undestandable considering your character is an average cat without any superpowers or crazy gear.
