Mafia: The Old Country fails to engage in any way. Even if you love knives. This is a 10-15 hour linear action with a predictable storyline that is incredibly boring.
Mafia: The Old Country is an ambitious action-adventure game that portrays the Sicilian Mafia of the early 20th Century through a realistic lens. However, its excessive fixation on realism results in tedious gameplay and a story that lacks excitement, ultimately alienating a broader audience. As a consequence, the game will likely only resonate with a niche group of players who have a strong interest in the lives of the Mafia at that time.

If you can forgive those insecurities, perhaps the result of trying to balance a mainstream genre game with more experimental narrative ambitions, The Old Country has an enormous amount of heart. [Issue#415, p.88]

Excellent game! It's short, but I'm not complaining. The story was very good. It could be slow at times, but overall a very fun game that kept me playing until the credits rolled!

Mafia: The Old Country doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it does take players to a beautiful new locale for a full-fledged Mafia game like any other - and possibly the best one yet. The Old Country makes for a sublime addition to the series.

A tight and memorable tale chock full of high-quality writing, charismatic characters and exciting story twists. Mafia: The Old Country may not break new ground on the gameplay front, but it succeeds in being one of the best interactive movies I have ever played.

(The English version is below.) YAPIMCI EKİBE TEŞEKKÜR EDİYORUM BENİ BU NOSTALJİK ANILARIMA DÖNDÜRÜRKEN YEPYENİ BİR DENEYİM VE HİKAYE KAZANDIRDIKLARI İÇİN --------- ENG: I’m giving this a 10/10 because I’m a huge fan of the Mafia series, and Mafia II is easily one of the games of my life. The beauty of its story and the way it’s told reminded me of those old-school games with clear, emotional storytelling that I’ve truly **** gameplay isn’t amazing, but it’s solid, simple, and more than enough for a 9–10 hour experience. If you’re not already a fan of the Mafia series, this might be more of a 6 or 7 out of 10 game for you. Mafia: The Old Country doesn’t really follow the modern style of games people usually prefer today, but it is absolutely a game worth playing.Especially if you enjoyed any previous Mafia game (except Mafia III — if you liked that one… well, never mind), then you should definitely play this immediately.I want to thank the developers for bringing me back to those nostalgic memories while also giving me a completely new experience and story at the same time.

Mafia: The Old Country feels like a pure cinematic crime experience, pulling you into its world with obsessive attention to detail. The atmosphere is incredibly immersive—you can almost feel the weight of the era while walking through its foggy streets. It masterfully blends classic mafia storytelling with modern visuals and narrative techniques, creating something both nostalgic and fresh. The story is deep, the characters feel real, and the music elevates every moment. This isn’t just a game—you live it. 10/10.

Mafia: The Old Country is a conventional but effective return to the linear and tightly story-driven format of the original Mafia and Mafia II, and it boasts a wonderful eye and ear for detail.

Mafia: The Old Country doesn’t stand out for its campaign length, which could have been a bit longer. Still, in its 12-hour runtime, it offers a solid story and charismatic characters that will please fans of mafia-themed stories, even if the plot itself isn't particularly surprising.

Mafia The Old Country paints an evocative 1902 Sicily with stellar art direction, strong performances, and competent cover shooting. Frequent performance drops, constrained mission design despite a broad map, dated stealth, and repetitive knife encounters erode the momentum, and a finale that fails to deliver undercuts the narrative. A beautiful, ambitious entry that too often frustrates, worth it for the setting, better at a discount.

A decent but cliched mob story and bland, frustrating gameplay make this the weakest Mafia yet.

I love Mafia, I've played every entry however this one is not perfect. Its a very enjoyable game and i would certainly recommend it, just know some of the flaws going into it. There are no choices, in mafia that isn't uncommon at all but you often cannot even choose the weapons. Its frustrating but it doesn't ruin the experience. The lack of an open world is very disappointing, the "Free Ride" mode helps but doesn't really fix it. The games really were at their best when the world was semi-open or fully open. The overall story is fine, there are not really any characters who are poorly written. There won't be many surprises or twists, its all pretty common in the mafia genre. The car driving is frustrating, I understand its relatively early for automobiles and the roads aren't build for them but it can get very annoying. The games sound design, world and graphics are beautiful. I never experienced any glitches or obvious flaws, the map was clearly made very well. The game is fun, but it does feel like a movie with driving and shooting sections to break it up. A lot of the gameplay itself is scripted, I won't spoil it but if you play it becomes very apparent.

Mafia: The Old Country, True to its name, this mafia tale is "old" not just in its setting, but in its dated visuals, barebones mechanics, and abysmal optimization. On a technical level, the optimization is remarkably poor. Despite running on modern RTX 30-series hardware, it chugs along as if it were a PS3 title at the end of its lifecycle. Frankly, older PS4 and Xbox One releases both look and perform significantly better. Mechanically, the game lacks any real depth. The linear design is thoroughly dated, relying on a barebones gameplay loop: tailing a friendly NPC through heavy exposition before culminating in either a basic shootout or a stealth section. While one-on-one blade fights and the occasional car chase are sprinkled throughout, the core mechanics remain undeniably shallow. Story-wise, it delivers a decent, albeit cliché, narrative—a poor lad rescued by the mob climbs the ranks and falls for the Don’s daughter. While the plot manages to engage you every now and then, the finale severely tests your patience. Honestly, this would have functioned much better as a movie than a video game. Overall, this game is a tough sell. Unless you are a die-hard fan desperate to try it out, I cannot recommend it. Much like the in-game car rides, I highly advise skipping this one altogether.
