Snow White2
Mar 24, 2025
“It would be so much better if it didn’t exist.” Not my words, but the words of the good doctor, Mark Kermode, in his review. I had to use it because it summarises everything you need to know about this atrocious reimagining of a beloved classic. Every single “update” Disney made feels like it was crafted to undermine the charm of the original. Instead of a timeless fairy-tale kingdom, we’re handed a clumsy vision of a communist utopia where every resource is shared—until the evil queen’s iron-fisted rule flips it into a full-on dictatorship. As if that weren’t enough, children are taught that stealing is perfectly acceptable, while poor Snow White herself has morphed into a loud, proud girlboss who never asks for help and lacks all the graceful warmth that once defined her character. Ultimately, there is but one reason to watch this misguided propaganda piece: for scholars of cinema history to dissect how something can be churned out without an iota of genuine artistry.

Top Gun: Maverick9
Jun 1, 2022
Top Gun Maverick had no right to be as good as it was. Crafted with love and care, the movie had a strong emotional core coupld to some of the most visceral and exciting action sequences ever put on film. A type of movie no longer made by Hollywood, this is a film that shines on the big screen. Go and watch it!

Munich: The Edge of War8
Feb 9, 2022
A surprisingly entertaining piece of historical fiction. The movie had an extremely clever and fresh take on Neville Chamberlain's often derided role in history. I would recommend this movie for fans of history who already have prior knowledge of this period in European history. It will make your viewing a lot more pleasurable.

Gemini Man8

Don't really get the critic and audience dislike for this movie. The action was great, having Will Smith act both characters was interesting and the film does raise some interesting points about cloning and modern warfare. Yes, the human drama and script could've have been smarter and more profound - a golden opportunity for a great movie was definitely missed here - but overall, it was a solid, entertaining movie.

Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker2
Jan 3, 2020
What a disappointment. The final movie in the Skywalker saga not only manages to fail on its own level but also introduces new themes and ideas that retroactively wrecks the other films in the series, most notably Return of the Jedi. In addition, this is probably the worst trilogy in cinematic history as episodes 8 and 9 directly clashed with each other. If you want some mindless fun, this film would work as the pacing is so frenetic it doesn't allow for any introspection. I'd put it on the same level as Independence Day 2.

Avengers: Endgame10

What an unbelievable accomplishment to have shaped the previous 21 movies and end it here in the most beautiful perfect way possible. Endgame is the be all and end all of MCU movies.

Captain Phillips10
Jan 13, 2014
Captain Phillips is a flawless and intense drama that ratchets up the tension with every passing minute. Tom Hanks delivers a career-best performance as the wily and quick-thinking everyman who does his best before cracking under the pressure. The Somali pirates are also treated fairly and their motivation is convincing. 5/5, a must-see movie.
