A space movie with big name actors like Tommy Lee Jones and Brad Pitt? A big budget? What could go wrong? Well the answer here is the writing. Whoever it was that authored this plot spent far too much time smelling his own farts and posturing as deep and philosophical, because in reality, the move is extremely shallow. The plot and direction really waste the clearly expert special effects artists and talent of the actors in the film. Boring, snobby movie that is convinced that it's the greatest thing of all time, when it quite obviously isn't.

I'll start off by saying that I DO like Adam Sandberg's humor. I thought he was usually funny in his sketches on SNL, and I've binge watched almost all of Brooklyn 99. That being said, this movie is cringey and unfunny. If I had to put it in a succinct way, I'd say that this movie is targeted at hypercynical redditors. It's not funny, the "lesson learned" was clearly stolen from a hallmark card, and the presentation is really nothing to write home about.

There are really interesting visuals in the movie, the kind that could make it a pretty good one - but the story is garbage. It's way too abstract, and leaves you bored.
