Battle Chef Brigade8
Oct 18, 2018
Battle Chef Brigade is one of my only regrets of any Nintendo Switch game I have purchased however, the regret is that I didn't purchase it sooner. While you may not get a deep twisting narrative from this title you will get a fun match 3 style game that some how manages to blend in action rpg style combat in a manner that is near flawless. The environment and atmosphere of the game is brimming with colour and every time you take down a big creature to get ingredients or match up a lot of ingredients to make a great meal it feels so satisfying. The customization also helps add a little diversity to the game which it greatly appreciates. Overall Battle Chef Brigade is a shorter game but you're still looking at 6-10 hours to complete with post game options as well such as daily challenges so that you never completely run out of things to do. Battle Chef brigade is a wonderful indie title that unfortunately didn't get the respect it deserved at launch. I definitely recommend Battle Chef Brigade for anyone who's looking for a fun action rpg without a seriously deep narrative. Cons May feel short on content for some Story is average

Hyrule Warriors7
Jan 23, 2018
The Dynasty Warriors style games have become very prevalent in the video game world as of late and they show no sign of slowing down anytime soon. The hack & slash genre is very interesting, to say the least, because of its capabilities to mix with so many franchises to create excellent well-made titles. So when Hyrule Warriors was announced and, long-time fans learned that they were going to be capable of playing as some of their favorite characters from the Zelda franchise it was hard for many to contain their excitement. Hyrule Warriors released to mostly favorable reception and fans of the Zelda series seemed happy. However, Nintendo had an idea to let Hyrule Warriors come to the much less powerful 3DS, under the title Hyrule Warriors Legends. While it's great that Nintendo was thinking about their 3DS users, sometimes video games need to know their limitations. Hyrule Warriors Legends on the 3DS plays exactly like its counterpart except for the obvious difference in controls. Hyrule Warriors Legends adds six new characters Linkle, Toon Link, Tetra, King of Hyrule, Skull Kid, Ganondorf (with a trident), and Medli. Each of these characters can also be added to the Wii U version of the game by purchasing the Legends DLC so these characters aren't exactly exclusive to the game. The gameplay is very similar to other Musou, style games where you capture "Point A" or have to defeat a certain boss or a certain amount of enemies, while also assuring your army is protected and you haven't lost your base. Each character has multiple types of weapons they can use and each weapon type has different versions of that weapon that can be found. Each of these different weapon versions has different stats which adds some uniqueness to each one you find. The game also contains Heart Pieces like other Zelda games where characters, max health can be increased by completing challenges. The 3DS version adds the ability to tap on character portraits to switch your character at any time which is nice, although it loses the functionality for 2 players to play together which is very unfortunate. Another new addition to Legends is the My Fairy mode, which allows players to find and befriend fairies in combat and level them up so they can perform special attacks in battle. Players who like micro-managing may like this addition to the game although, in reality, it seems to be a rather pointless addition. The final addition is seemingly the replacement to Challenge Mode, called Adventure Mode which allows players to explore a new map in the similar style of the Great Sea. It's an interesting concept and players can receive small 8-bit Zelda items to uncover items on the map but overall many would probably prefer the Challenge Mode instead. There are also two new items added the Hammer and the Ocarina which allows While Legends mostly seems like an upgrade from its predecessor it falls very short on the technical aspects of the gameplay. While it is being played on a handheld now which means the graphical downgrade is obviously forgivable, the amount of unpolished environments and the constant frame rate stutters is what stops Hyrule Warrior Legends from being the definitive Hyrule Warriors. The environment looks very downgrade on the 3DS, they are far too blurry and to further complain the lighting of the game is abysmal compared to its predecessor. What's even more unfortunate is the constant frame rate problems that anyone who has an old 3DS will experience. The new 3DS performs better than the old, however, it's disappointing to have to buy a new version of the same handheld to have to experience Legends in a more playable state. Overall Hyrule Warriors Legends will scratch that Musou itch for fans that are very intent on playing through Hyrule Warriors. If you have always wanted to play this game and, don't own a Wii U or prefer a portable version of the game you will still find enjoyment from Legends. However, because of the technical downgrades and some of the key features Legends loses if you have the option pay the extra amount of the Wii U version.

Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals8
Jan 21, 2018
Spectrobes Beyond The Portal is an interesting switch up of the monster catching genre and a great sequel to the original game. The combat using two different Spectrobes and also fighting using the protagonist Rallen works well for players who find turn-based combat too tedious and does nothing but add to the quality of the game. The exploration is great tho it can be annoying having to clear out a place of Krawl's (the enemy) before being able to dig up fossils. The story is interesting tho borrows a lot from common Sci-Fi gimmicks and may cause some players to lose interest. The addition of custom parts for spectrobes is welcome, as with the addition of Dark Spectrobes. Spectrobes Beyond The Portal was a fantastic sequel that should have helped cement a new franchise for a long time to come but sadly, Spectrobes only saw one last game on the Wii before the franchise was killed off. If you are going to play Spectrobes, play the first one then take Beyond The Portal and enjoy the best game in the series. Cons Having to defeat all the Krawl before digging up fossils and minerals is annoying Sci-Fi gimmicks are redundant Lacks difficulty

Kirby: Squeak Squad8
Jan 21, 2018
Kirby Squeak Squad is by far one of the best entries in the Kirby series, providing yet another wholesome Kirby experience while also adding some welcome additions to the game. Kirby Squeak Squad plays over 8 different worlds providing over 40 levels of gameplay. In each level, there are multiple treasure chest you can find and if you finish the level with them you will unlock new items that can be seen on the level select screen. These items vary between music sheets, different colours for Kirby, and extra abilities for Kirby's different copy forms. Kirby Squeak Squad adds 5 new copy abilities which are the Animal, Bubble, Ghost, Metal, and Triple Star. Each of these new copy abilities is interesting and are a wonderful addition to the already stellar roster. The game does not provide much difficulty although some may consider it somewhat more difficult than other games in the Kirby series because of the lack of companions. Kirby does not have the ability to have companions in this game, therefore, for each battle, Kirby is all alone. Squeak Squad does, however, add an inventory that serves as being able to carry around healing items and transformation items so that they can be used at a later point. The soundtrack is pleasant just like other Kirby games and the atmosphere is beautiful and very well done. Kirby Squeak Squad mixes up the formula of the series enough to be an absolute enjoyment to play, it may not take you to long to complete the game but with the abundance of collectibles completing the game fully will take some time, luckily each part of the game is so well-developed that it never feels like a chore even if you have to backtrack to a previous level. Cons No companion system Game may feel lacking in content for those who don't care about collectibles

Oh...Sir! The Hollywood Roast8
Jan 20, 2018
****! The Hollywood Roast is an entertaining game that transfers very well from pc and mobile devices to the Switch. The game involves stringing words and sentences together to make roasts towards your opponent and decrease their health bar. While it seems simple there is quite a bit of strategy that is needed to outsmart another actual player, unfortunately, the AI won't provide much of a challenge. While there is a career type game mode for each character that allows for a decent single player experience the game really shines in its local co-op. Splitting apart the Joycons and playing against a friend while yelling insane mostly non-sensible roasts at one another is absolutely hilarious and very entertaining. The game also offers online play but the servers don't seem to be filled with people, therefore I won't comment too much on this aspect of the game. Overall for its small price tag, the game serves as a really fun party game to play with friends with very good production value. The voice acting is good and the game doesn't get repetitive quickly. This is a wonderful addition to people looking for more party games for their Switch library, and is a mediocre purchase if you're looking to mostly play single-player. Cons Online will probably be mostly obsolete Single-player will become boring after a couple hours Graphical style of the game is not for everyone

NBA Playgrounds7
Jan 18, 2018
NBA Playgrounds is by no means a bad game and the re-release of the special addition was a very nice treat for Saber Interactive to do for Switch owners considering how poorly optimized the original Switch version was. Now I have not played the original NBA Playgrounds but from the rumors, the special edition improves on a fair amount. The gameplay is generally fun and quite reminiscent of the classic NBA Jam, though definitely not better than it. Gameplay is entertaining although AI responses to perform actions like the alley-oop could definitely use some work because the AI is very unresponsive. Frame rates are fairly smooth with slightly noticeable slowdowns occasionally in handheld mode though they did not take away from the experience. The handheld graphics are definitely blurrier then when the Switch is docked, however, they seem to still be fairly nice which I assume is an upgrade from the original edition. The concept of unlocking every character is a hit or miss to some people. To me, it's enjoyable because I always look forward to unlocking something new when I'm playing a game. With the large character roster and numerous tournament stages, you will definitely get your money's worth of gameplay out of NBA Playgrounds if you like playing some unconventional basketball. As of now, I have not tried out the online mode, so I will edit this review including my opinion of it once I have. The general level up system of the game feels a little too grind heavy, unfortunately, and character progression feels like a wasted addition to attempt to consume more of the players time. NBA Playground does a fairly good job at being a spiritual successor to NBA Jam with some minor technical and gameplay flaws. If you really like basketball or are looking for a fun game with a lot of content you will like NBA Playground, it's a great game that is held back by a few significant flaws. Cons AI needs some work Upgrade system for characters and levels is to grind heavy and feels shallow Slight framerate issues in handheld mode

Monster Tale8
Jan 18, 2018
Monster Tale creates a fun unique combination of Pokemon, Tamagotchi, and the Metroidvania genre. The game has smooth platforming and fluid combat switching between a short range blaster and a close-up melee option that just makes the game feel like such a joy to play. The fun colorful graphics really help in providing an immersive atmosphere to gamers, and the way in which your pets come out on the screen to help you is simple yet effective. The only problems of the game consist with its lack of fast travel and its mediocre soundtrack. Overall Monster Tale is a hidden gem in the DS library that any fan of platformers or Metroidvania style games you should definitely give it a try. Cons Lack of fast travel Mediocre soundtrack

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker9
Jan 15, 2018
The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker is a visual masterpiece and an amazing addition to the already phenomenal series. Wind Waker completely overhauled the graphics of the Zelda series, and while some may say that the graphics catered too much to a younger audience, in reality, the cell shaded graphics are the best fit for Zelda. Wind Waker offers some of the most fluid gameplay Zelda series, with fast-paced exciting combat, and one of the first experiences of an open world in video games. A large part of Wind Waker involves riding on the sea and it's truly amazing how free you feel while operating the King of Red Lions. Sailing around gives the game such an open feeling that makes the player feel as if they are in control of where they want to go and not the feeling of linearity that players so used to in the Zelda franchise. Puzzles are still as fun as ever, and the game does a fairly good job at directing you where you have to go to continue the story without outright forcing you to go there. The story is still as charming as ever to the triforce shard quests do feel quite boring and uninspired, causing a part of the game to lose its immersiveness. Overall Wind Waker is by far one of the greatest games ever created by Nintendo and probably one of the greatest games ever made. Wind Waker proves that changes to a well-established franchise are not always a bad thing and can sometimes rejuvenate a franchise and make it feel new to players all over again Cons Triforce shard quest is still boring.

Yooka-Laylee7
Jan 11, 2018
Yooka Layley is the game I have been waiting for since Banjo Tooie and it serves as a fantastic spiritual successor, and while the Switch may be the definitive way to play the game it unfortunately as quite a few shortcomings. Yooka Layley plays great on the Switch and even though in handheld mode it doesn't quite make it to 720P (600P is the resolution in handheld mode) the game still looks great. Yooka Layley gives a great feeling of Nostalgia that fans of the Banjo Kazooie series have yearned for, for so long. The game plays exactly like it with a similar soundtrack style to a similar overworld to similar gameplay, it's easy to see that this game is essentially Banjo Threeie reskinned. The presentation of Yooka Layley is great, the new moves you are constantly learning aid in spicing up the gameplay, and the worlds give off such an amazing atmosphere that may be even better than the worlds in Banjo Kazooie (remember I said may). Overall Yooka Layley is drowning in character from the wonderful cast to the vibrant worlds it makes you wonder how this game could have any problems with it, and then you begin to see the technical problems. The Switch version of Yooka Layley is plagued by awful load times, switching worlds has taken me up to a full minute of load time in order to start playing again which is just insufferable to say the least. Yooka Layley also loses a lot of graphical power compared to other systems although Playtonic did do their best to prevent it from being exceptionally noticeable. The frame rate in Yooka Layley is my main concern because sometimes it is all over the place. I have suffered major frame rate problems in docked and handheld mode and while they don't last for long they happen frequently enough to ruin some of the immersiveness of the game. While I do agree that the graphical downgrade is acceptable considering the Switch is less powerful then other home consoles, the awful load times and frequent frame rate problems cannot be excused. Yooka Layley is a wonderful tribute to the 3D collectathon genre and is truly a very entertaining game. It pays tribute to its roots very well and it's easy to see the immense amount of work Playtonic put into it. Unfortunantly this game loses some of its appeals due to its technical shortcomings, however, that still doesn't mean Yooka is not an amazing game. Instead it's a flawed masterpiece. Cons Frame rate issues in both Handheld and Docked mode Crippling load time between worlds Graphics feel a little too blurry in some of the environment

Cat Quest8
Jan 11, 2018
While Cat Quest doesn't attempt to reinvent the Action Rpg genre it serves as an amazing entry into the genre with a welcoming and colorful open world and casual but fun gameplay. Cat Quest takes shots at the fundamentals of the Rpg and by doing that is able to create a comical and silly tone. The equipment system works quite well although the game is quite the grind to get the money to buy the really great equipment from the blacksmith. The grinding part is another part of the game that may turn away some players. While the combat mechanics are simple and fun using a mix of attacking dodging and magic, the game overall begins to feel quite repetitive after a couple of hours. Eventually, you will find that the grind to a higher level will get long and somewhat monotonous. Mixed with the slow rate at which you receive gold it can cause frustration for players that like to follow the main story. However, Cat Quest is full of sidequests that will help lessen that awful grind a lot, however, they also suffer from tedious and repetitive mechanics, such as go to point A defeat a dungeon then comeback. Cat Quest may not be the perfect Action Rpg but it is a pretty great one. If you can get past the constant grinding you will see that Cat Quest is a beautiful world that was created to enthrall players. Cons Too much grinding Sidequests are too tedious

Street Fighter IV7
Dec 20, 2017
Street Fighter IV visually makes an amazing jump from 2D to 3D models and in general it accomplishes what a Street Fighter game should accomplish. However, ultimately the game fails to innovate and change the Street Fighter formula . In all honestly, this review doesn't have much bad to say about the game but the repetitiveness of the title makes it feel as if the new graphical style is the only addition to the game. Cons Same game as always but different graphics

Catlateral Damage7
Dec 17, 2017
Catlateral Damage has received far too much negativity from the entertaining light-hearted nature of the game. While content is a little limited and the gameplay gets tedious it's still a really cute and interesting game idea. There are a decent amount of unlockable cats and unlockable pictures, and it definitely has enough content for the price tag it has. The soundtrack isn't great, and the graphics are a hit or miss depending on the style of graphics you like, but really this game isn't meant to be taken seriously. This game is meant to be a de-stressor from life, just a fun and relaxing experience, The litterbox mode accomplishes this relaxing experience by eliminating time limits and allowing you just to have fun with no stress. I'm not saying Catlateral Damage is perfect but you could do much worse. If you want a cute, fun game to play pickup Catlateral Damage. Cons The soundtrack in general Lacking content Gameplay gets tedious

Princess Remedy is a well done little Side Scrolling Rpg Shooter that more people need to be aware of. While the visuals aren't the greatest even for a retro style game, the gameplay is fun and the game has a very low price tag of free! Overall it's not perfect but it's a cute little free Side Scrolling Shooter that deserves to be played by more people. Also last minute addition the soundtrack is a very nice retro style soundtrack.that really adds to the games all ready nice atmosphere.

Pokemon Snap6
Dec 13, 2017
Pokemon Snap is a great Pokemon Spinoff that's short length and lack of replay value make it feel as if it ended development time too early. It makes taking pictures of Pokemon fun instead of a chore, however that only last for a couple of hours until the main story is over. While you can return top each stage with your arsenal of items and attempt to score more points on your pictures, that's all the game really offers for post-game content. Something like a two-player mode, or sidequest, or a challenge mode would have at least added something to the game so that it didn't feel so empty but sadly it didn't. Pokemon Snap feels like it had so much more potential it could have lived up to and now fans of this spin-off are left to wonder, "will we ever get a sequel?" Cons Extremely short length Lack of post-game content Lack of replay value No 2-player modes Limited selection of Pokemon

Inazuma Eleven8
Dec 13, 2017
Inazuma Eleven is a very well developed sports Rpg game. Inazuma Eleven offers fairly simple gameplay with a large cast of characters and tons of special moves to teach characters that make sure the game never gets old. While it can be a little too easy at times and the story isn't fantastic the gameplay is very entertaining and its soundtrack is a joy to listen to. Inazuma Eleven is a very underrated DS and 3DS title, that I pray gets a sequel on the Switch. Cons Story is mediocre A little too easy at times.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon7
Dec 13, 2017
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is a fun sequel to a fantastic game, that transferred well into a handheld game. While the transfer to handheld is smooth Dark Moon feels much less immersive than its predecessor, adding to the stale mansions and sadly Dark Moon doesn't live up to the standards set by the original. Luigi's Mansion took place in one single mansion, however; the mansion had character. The location was really well done each room felt like it had something new to offer, and it felt much more open then the areas in Dark Moon. The missions make Dark Moon somewhat of a bore because it creates a linear feeling that Luigi's Mansion gracefully avoided. The exploration in Luigi's mansion felt much more atmospheric and the ghosts designs were much better. Boss ghosts had a bit of unique character and some type of specific way to take them down. The ghost in Dark Moon just feels like they lack the same amount of character as the original games ghosts. One thing Dark Moon definitely does improve on is its difficulty. While Dark Moon is not an overly difficult game it adds a slight amount more difficulty then its predecessor which was too easy for most players. Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon is by know means a bad sequel, it's still a quite fun game but compared to the original the game just feels like it substituted difficulty for a less atmospheric and immersive game. Cons Game doesn't feel as immersive as the original Ghost lack same amount of character as the original Exploration of the three mansions feels too linear, and exploration feels less open.

Crashlands9
Dec 12, 2017
Crashlands is a phenomenal Action Sandbox Rpg, that any gamer should try out if they want to have a great and wacky time. While the story may not be the most interesting ever created, the humor of the game will leave you in stitches quite often. This humor makes the main character very personable and adds a lot to the gameplay. The game centers around gathering resources and building everything from decorations to new weapons that come with randomized special abilities. The gameplay is fun and though, you won't be expecting to one shot anything until you have put a solid amount of time into the game. The game has a lot to do, and it seldom ever gets boring. Crashlands is visually beautiful the art design looks wonderful, very similar to a modern-day cartoon which adds a lot to the atmosphere. Overall Crashlands is one of the best games I have played on PC in a long time and maybe my personal favorite indie game of al time because of how well developed the game is. Cons The soundtrack is forgettable.

Dec 12, 2017
Valkyria Chronicles II is a great sequel to the existing franchise, available portably on the PSP. The gameplay is still the same great gameplay from its predecessor, and with a large cast of characters to take control of, the game keeps itself fairly fresh. There is a significant increase in grinding compared to the first game but overall it's not enough to make the game feel too tedious. Valkyria Chronicles 2 is a welcomed sequel. The two words that best describe Valkyria Chronicles 2 are wonderful and portable. Cons Grinding can get tedious and may bore some players Story is a hit or miss

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution6
Dec 12, 2017
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution, provides a mediocre multiplayer experience that provides little improvement upon its predecessor and actually worsens the gameplay by creating an absolutely unbalanced fighting system. The added visual effects, sharpening of the models, and the increase of playable characters and new awakenings are all of the additions that made Revolution a decent sequel. The addition of the three type system mixed with the awful story mode is what made the game absolutely inferior to its predecessor. The three type system was unbalanced making the Drive Type far superior to the other types, mixed with the mediocre online combat system created what may be the worse combat system of any of the Ninja Storm series games. The customization of ninjas and having your own AI ninja to go out and fight for you was sadly not enough to save the online battles in this game. Revolution isn't a bad game but its not without its serious problems, and this is from someone who put over 60 hours into the game. Overall the game is a somewhat disappointing sequel that does add a couple of things that saved the game from being an absolute disappointment. Cons Broken fighting system Story mode is boring, and dialogue is mediocre Not enough changes to existing characters movesets

New Super Mario Bros. 27
Dec 12, 2017
New Super Mario Bros 2 is a solid entry in the Mario franchise that feels a bit too much like an easier version of its predecessor. New Super Mario Bros was by no means a difficult game, it was a proper difficulty, and if anything it should have been a bit more difficult. That being said New Super Mario Bros 2 seems to water down the gameplay of the first one a bit while creating new level designs using the levels of its predecessor as templates. While this isn't necessarily a bad thing New Super Mario Bros 2 feels more like New Super Mario Bros +. The game is still good and the visuals and sound hold up great on the 3DS, but to call this a great sequel is definitely a stretch. New Super Mario Bros 2 stays true to the Mario formula, and if you liked New Super Mario Bros and wished it was easier you're going to really enjoy New Super Mario Bros 2, for fans hoping for a Mario title similar to the classics, search elsewhere. Cons Game is much easier than most Mario titles Level designs feel too similar to New Super Mario Bros Not enough new content to justify a brand new game

Pokemon: Magikarp Jump8
Dec 12, 2017
Magikarp Jump may not be the most exciting game ever, however; it manages to create a cool pet simulator style game on mobile that can entice fans to find a new admiration for their fishy pal. Magikarp jump does not require much skill but it is more than a idle tap game. You the trainer chooses how to train Magikarp you choose what to upgrade, and you think about what will benefit your Magikarp's training the most. The different types of Magikarps you can find add a nice little gimmick to this pet simulator and the fact that the entirety of this free to play mobile game can be beaten without even contemplating spending money on microtransactions makes Magikarp Jump a special mobile title. While the gameplay isn't action-packed nor overly immersive, it is calm and relaxing to raise your own Magikarp. To me, it seems this game was developed not with the hope of making money in mind but with the hope of some Pokemon fans enjoying a relaxing simulator with everyone's favorite Karp. Cons Gameplay can get quite tedious The same visual of Magikarp jumping for every level gets boring to watch

Sonic Boom: **** Crystals is a boring, uninspired, disappointment to all Sonic fans and 3DS owners. The game is slow and uneventful, the gameplay is bogged down ugly visuals and generally just not enjoyable gameplay. While the game isn't broken with glitches like Sonic 06, that doesn't mean it deserves to receive a good rating. Just because a game is playable doesn't mean it gets a good rating. Cons Movement and combat is slow Playing feels like a chore Even the soundtrack is mediocre at best Villian is worse then Eggman

Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon6
Dec 12, 2017
Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon does deserve some points for managing to make an acceptable entry into the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon franchise after Gates to Infinity, however acceptable is the only way to describe it. Sadly Super Mystery Dungeon lacks a well-written story that could possibly have the worse story of this series of spin-offs. While the gameplay stays the same and the visuals are looking good, the Mystery Dungeon formula really needed more of an overhaul, and the new implementation of recruiting Pokemon to your rescue team is lackluster at best. You go out on a specific mission to rescue these Pokemon or help them, then these Pokemon that are way above your level join you, and the games difficulty curves so that you essentially have to rely on these high-level partners if you want to get through the game without a lot of grinding. Super Mystery Dungeon failed to revitalize the franchise like Time and Darkness on the DS did, and because of that the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon spin-off series may lie dormant forever, and no S.O.S mail will be available Cons No fundamental changes except awful implementation of recruiting system Worse Story of the Mystery Dungeon franchise Main characters feel useless

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap9
Dec 12, 2017
The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap is the best of the portable Zelda games by far. It's wonderful art style and the fluidity of the combat within the game reveal such an underrated and amazing entry into the Zelda franchise. The game has an intriguing story surrounding a villain other than Ganon known as Vaati, an while he may not be as strong of an antagonist as Ganon Vaati still does the job. Link's arsenal in this game has plenty of the old weapons fans will know and love, but it also has the brand new items that are completely unique to the Minish Cap. In addition, the unique Kinstone mechanic adds a lot to the game world and is an interesting way to cause the player to have to backtrack. At know no point did I find myself angry that I had to backtrack, only excited to see he new treasure I was going to get, or enemy | was going to face. Despite being shorter than most other main series Zelda games The Minish Cap holds up extremely well with it's bright handheld visuals and it's fantastic gameplay. Any Nintendo fan or Zelda fan that hasn't already played the Minish Cap must definitely try it as soon as possible because it's truly one of the best Zelda games and one of the best handheld games of all time. Cons Shorter then average Zelda game Can be too easy for some players

Epic Battle Fantasy 4 is an amazing and solid turn-based Rpg. With many different weapons, items, and skills to collect, and a wonderful upgrade system using ingredients to better your weapons and armor, Epic Battle Fantasy 4 creates one of the most compelling indie Rpg's on PC. The visuals aren't the greatest but the games humor, and atmosphere make up for the rough visuals.

Gunbarich really accomplishes what it wants to accomplish. It's a very interesting brickbreaker style game that has a good amount of character to it. The levels are fast paced game play is smooth and being capable of playing the game in a vertical arcade cabinet fashion is a great way to play. Controls feel pretty good on the Switch and this unknown title really fits well on the Switch. I'm very pleased with my purchase of the game. The game is quite difficult but that does not mean it deserves a lower rating because of it. Gunbarich is a very underrated arcade title and I hope more people buy the game.

Rivals of Aether8
Dec 12, 2017
Rivals of Aether brings the retro smash game we never received back in the 16-bit era. The sprites are amazing and the game as a whole fits so well with its art style. Single player story mode has online leaderboards for replay value and online play is pretty great for an indie title. There's also a custom skin creator which adds some really neat value to the game. Overall Rivals of Aether is by far one of the best "Smash" style fighters that have ever been created and any fans of 2D fighters should definitely check this game out. Cons Small cast Lack of gameplay diversity (multiple game modes)

Yu-Gi-Oh! The Falsebound Kingdom7
Dec 12, 2017
Yu Gi Oh Falsebound Kingdom was by no means a perfect game, but you could tell there was some work put into its development. The large roster of monsters and the inclusion of many Yu Gi Oh cards as items, made the turn-based/strategy game really interesting. While the graphics aren't for everyone the gameplay is quite entertaining and the replay value is adequate for completionists, especially because of the three different story modes. This may not be perfect but it is a fairly entertaining game, definitely recommended for fans of the series.

ARMS8
Dec 12, 2017
Arms is a wonderful new Nintendo IP that although, not perfect is a welcome addition to the Nintendo library and the Switch. This 3D boxing fighter game brings a lot of entertainment to the table and can easily be played by two people, with the one joycon configuration. Online play also allows for two people to play together and partner up for two-player tag team games. There's a diverse amount of game modes such as Volleyball and Hoops (basketball) and they're quite fun little sports minigames. Then there's target smash which is entertaining because hitting the opposing players, will cause them to lose points. Headlock Scramble is a fun little mode as well that lets you play as the big bad villain Headlock. The problem with the online mode is the three player and the four player free for all matches. They're honestly a mess with the poor tracking system, and usually, the player that's the best at hiding wins. The majority of the online game is fun with a few technical problems, although the single player game is lacking. The GrandPrix mode is essentially a survival mode and it really doesn't add much to the game. It's an easy way to farm coins to get new Arms but that's all it's good for. One of the best things about arms is that each character can unlock the arms of all of the other characters so you can load out your favorite character with your favorite set of arms, and with over 30 different ones to choose from the possibilities are endless. Arms suffers from some problems with the online play being a disaster in free for all matches, and the single-player portion of the game is mediocre at best, but it really does a great job at bringing two players online couch co-op back and for that reason, we ought to really thank Nintendo. While Arms isn't the fighter for everyone it's really worth trying at least once. Once again Nintendo has created a well-made franchise that I hope to see a sequel to. Cons: Multiple player free for all matches are not fun at all Single player is quite boring Some balancing problems

Jet Set Radio7
Dec 12, 2017
Jet Set Radio is one of the most interesting video game concepts ever created by Sega. Rollerblading around a city spraying graffiti over other gangs spots seems like an idea that would amount to an unentertaining video game but luckily Jet Set Radio succeeds in being interesting. The levels are fairly open and the gameplay is surprisingly fluid, although the controls can be annoying, when you're trying to cut a hard turn or trying to be very precise with your movement. Running away from cops and spraying graffiti is a pretty interesting concept like already stated and while the game seems like a complete fresh of breath air it does suffer from some problems. The PC port seems to suffer some slowdowns and bugs that the Xbox and Dreamcast version didn't have, however, that's usual with PC ports. On the other hand, the PC port problems don't really hinder the game's performance, what does hinder the performance of the game is the game itself. The gameplay begins to get somewhat tedious after awhile and unfortuanently the cast of characters doesn't exactly bring new life into the game. The soundtrack is amazing, in my opinion, sadly it's not for everyone, the soundtrack may turn many players away from the game, it really depends on the person. While Jet Set Radio is a wonderful Sega gem that's port to PC is fairly well done. Although, the game get's somewhat repetitive and the soundtrack is a large hit or miss, it still is a fun game that I would recommend to anyone who's looking for a unique gaming experience. Cons: Sountrack isn't for everyone Some control issues Tedious after a couple hours Replay value is mediocre.

Terraria7
Dec 12, 2017
Terraria is a fun creative 2D Minecraft esque game that sadly falls short in some areas. While Terraria gives you plenty to do and the older graphics look nice, but the gameplay begins to fall short in the adventure aspect of the game. The 3D world of Minecraft just feels so well done and fun to explore, but the 2D plain of Terraria feels more of a chore to explore. Digging and looking for materials is less eventful because of its 2D style which causes it to feel like you're not really exploring caves. The soundtrack while nice still isn't anything to write home about. Also with a limited mod system and fairly incompetent Lan play option, Terraria feels somewhat empty. Maybe with friends, the game could be more fun but as it is now it feels like a mediocre attempt at a great exploration sandbox idea.

Kingdom Hearts II9
Dec 12, 2017
Kingdom Hearts is the pinnacle of action RPG games. This game defines the idea of a perfect sequel.Graphics are vastly improved, the drive system is a welcome addition and everything from the way you acquire skills, to the diverse cast of characters that partner with you is essential to creating this fundamentally perfect game. The mix between Final Fantasy and Disney created a child that exceeded the expectations of myself, and many other Rpg fans. The soundtrack is by far one of the best of all time. Almost everything about Kingdom Hearts 2 is wonderful, however, the introduction of the game where players play as Roxas is far too long of introduction before playing as Sora and is disappointing. and this game deserves to be considered one of the best even after more than 10 years.

Reigns8

Reigns is a fun little card swiping game that transitioned well to PC from IOS. While Reigns is not a complicated game it can prove somewhat difficult to balance the stats of your people in order to stay alive for a long period of time. the challenge this game brings feels just right. Furthermore, it's visuals while they're nothing to get excited about are fairly pleasant to look at. Reigns is not the most exciting game out there, but for the small price tag it can provide an ample amount of fun, and is truly a great casual game for any gamer.

Super Meat Boy8
Dec 8, 2017
Super Meat boy is a fantastic tough as nails platformer. Controls feel amazing and when you die it isn't because of frustrating controls it's because you messed up the puzzle yourself. Completionist will have plenty to play here and although, it is tough it's a fair title and it's an amazing game for any fan of platformers. Can't wait to pickup the sequel on the Switch.

Human: Fall Flat6
Dec 7, 2017
As a co-op game Human: Fall Flat mostly succeeds at being a fun, funny, and rage inducing platform puzzle style game. As a single player game it succeeds at nothing. The controls of this game are awful, and frustrating rag-doll physics. Although that is the essential gimmick of the game they're more frustrating then they should be and the bugs and glitches within the game are heavy at times. With a friend these controls can be mostly forgiven because you will be laughing along the whole time. The puzzles do a fairly good job at being different each time and the gameplay doesn't get too stale, however the frustrating controls do get old after awhile. The soundtrack of the game is mediocre, it doesn't take away from the game nor does it add to the atmosphere of it. Hoping the Switch port of Human fall flat improves slightly on the frustrating controls because without a significant fix, the game has no playable value as a single player game, unless you want to rip your hair out.

The Madness of Little Emma8
Dec 7, 2017
The Madness of Little Emma is a wonderful Binding of Issac inspired roguelike. While the atmosphere is not as substantial as The Binding of Issac it certainly does a good job. Consider it a well done budget version of The Binding of Issac. The ladder mode is an interesting idea that gives you a ranking increase depending how far you get on each run, and the different items you find on each run are unique and useful just like The Binding of Issac. The soundtrack however, does not add much to the game and could have been better, Overall this game can be gotten cheap during Steam sales and even without a sale it's worth the regular price.

VOEZ8
Nov 30, 2017
VOEZ, shows Switch users not only how well a mobile game can transition onto the Switch, but also how well the touch pad controls of the Switch work. I'm not a fan of rhythm games but I heard great things about this game so I took a chance, and I'm glad I did. VOEZ is a beautiful rhythm game that works amazing on the Switch. The songs are beautiful, game play is smooth and for the completionist it will take a lot of time to receive the highest ranking on every song with every difficulty. The price of the game is a little expensive, however if you compare it to the price of the mobile version buying separate songs, Switch players are saving lots of money. Overall a phenomenal game and a must have for any rhythm game fan.
