**** baiting and homophobic, an otherwise good game reminds us once again that Japanese developers care about one demographic and one demographic only: straight cis males.

It's a fairly fun adventure game but the roguelite elements really hold it back. Unlike some other rogue lites where you may die but you've earned some upgrade that will carry over, in this one you simply respawn at the start. Basically, just try, try, and try again. In the roguelites i like, things get easier the more you die as you get strong enough to beat the challenge. In this one if you're really stuck on a level thats just it. You're done.

I do not give '10' scores lightly. In fact, I can't really think of another game that deserves the best possible score. It is the penultimate Harvest Moon game. Before, we had harvest moon. Then came runefactory and the developer split that created Story of Seasons. While story of seasons held the bar as the best farming games this game came along and took the top spot. While some of the mechanics aren't as deep as Story of Seasons, it makes up for it in sheer amount of polished content. The game has heart and soul and it will pull you in to it's world. The bachlors/bachlorettes are all romanceable regardless of gender, something still not seen in mainstream games and a major step in the right direction.

Instead of letting you play the game your way and discovering things as you go the game is locked behind an endless amount of tedious side quests. On the first island I finished the main mission but it wouldn't let me continue until I ran all around the map completing tedious side quests to get items I already had to complete the big mission that I already had completed. In other words, there's no point to exploring ahead because the side quests will just guide you there anyways and you have to do them. ALL of them. The harvest festival quest wouldn't trigger for me because I hadn't killed 10 bodkins, something entirely unrelated to the plot. I can't play a game that holds your hand so much.

While it is a beautiful game, they stripped the rpg elements and character customization of their previous games away to produce this action/adventure game. I'm not too fond of it.

This was a fun little game, definitely worth the price on sale and if you like this style of game at full price, which is only 20 dollars I believe. The length is not very long, but it does include a new game plus. It has a shopkeeper mechanic sort of like recettear combined with dungeon crawling like the original zelda. I read somewhere that this was an action rpg with **** valley elements. This is absolutely not true, it is nothing like **** valley. The shopkeeper part is a very important part of the game, but it's fairly simple, as is expanding the town, which only involves paying for new merchants, of which there are 5. The other thing you can do is expand your shop. You can make it bigger, improve your bed, cashregister, storage and add a discount box to your shop. That is everything, so you see, it's hardly rebuilding a town or anything like that. It is still a good game and there are a lot of choices for weapons and armor, which is the only way you get stronger. There are no spellcaster builds, just melee weapons and a bow.

Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk7

So this is a great dungeon crawler. The mechanics are unique, graphics are good and the music is amazing. There are tons of strategies you can set up with the coven system and in typical NIS fashion, tons of stat management you can get into, if that's your thing. My real problem with it is the sexualization of little girls. There's also two only female classes, with one of them being populated by these "sexy" children. This genre is rife with games which can aptly be described as "hentai crawlers". I'm not saying don't put their hentai in their games, but maybe be a little more inclusive to women and gay guys and for god's sake keep the pedo **** out.

Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu!9

People giving this game a bad score are basically giving the original pokemon red/blue/yellow a bad score. It is a faithful remake aside from some extra features and the new capture mechanic. I was skeptical about the capture mechanic at first but now I'm completely for it. Random battles often got quite tedious and they basically made it cleaner and easier. I think if they refined it a bit, it would be a step in the right direction. The old method let you strategically place status effects and lower their health to increase your odds and that was what was missing here. All you choose is which ball to choose and maybe throw a berry. Still, I think giving a 1 or 2 score just because of the new capture system is just ignorant. What I really wish was different was the pikachu/evee part. You can play with your respective partner, but only them. Pokemon Amie for X&Y had this feature with EVERY pokemon, so I feel like they took a step backwards with that. The post game is also severely lacking. I don't understand the point/fun of master trainers. I did enjoy having the ability to travel with another pokemon of my choice though. I'm excited to see what their next game will be as I see this as a stepping stone for the devs, to test out the switch's capabilities and to play around with new mechanics.

Bethesda **** sold out for money. A company which used to make great games in their rpg-open world niche caves into the mainstream online action TRASH that makes the big bucks. In a loud **** you" to the fans that loved vast single player rpgs, bethesda has managed to make a game for the new generation of gamers, ones that prefer loud explosions, shooting, and most of all multiplayer, so they can be **** to other people they've never met. Well done bethesda. But you're not alone. Bioware will be coming to join you soon with Anthem and the time of excellent stories, thoughtful and deep mechanics, and single player games is over.

They finally added romances to one of their games but screwed it up completely. If they ever patch in a romance for Eder then I'll give it a shot. At least with pillars 1 we knew there weren't any from the start, but with 2 it was a stretch goal and they just hodge podged some stuff together.

I'm gonna be honest, I did not play the other Assasin's Creed games. So this score is just evaluating it as a game, without the baggage of being in a series. I think the game is excellent, the graphics are phenomal and gameplay is solid. It kind of reminds me of horizon: zero dawn, as I played an archer like character. The microtransactions aren't in your face. I'd prefer for them not to be in there at all, but this is, unfortunately, the future of gaming. The world is gigantic, the biggest I've ever seen in a game. It really is breathtaking, looking out at synchronization points. Personally, I would have preferred more RPG elements, but I say that about every game. Alexios is thicc and truly bae.

Phenomenal RPG with an amazing soundtrack and retro graphics that somehow seem more beautiful than the latest triple A title. 8 Seperate stories and characters, you can pick and choose which ones to do. Some had me on the verge of tearing up while **** so much. Alfyn's story in particular was a snoozefest for me while Primroses had me all emotional. The mechanics are solid and deliver a great turn based rpg. The progression is pretty fun, but I would have prefered if it were deeper. If each job had split off into two advanced jobs and you had to choose which one to advance to, that would have been great. Not only would have their been more jobs, as I finished the game long not needing jp, but it would have deeper customization options. The dancer could advance to either assassin or necromancer (physical burst damage or dark magic). There also could have been a better end game. As it is, I think *slight spoiler* there is just one dungeon. A whole post game main quest chain would have really let you make use of *slight spoiler* those 4 jobs you can unlock.

Another example of devs slapping a new paint of coat on an old game and then selling it for full price. Everywhere you turn you see rereleases of old games but with nothing new or substantial added. Just a cash grab, meant to get people excited about a game thats already been out 3 years so they can sell it for $60, and it works.

Vampyr7
Jun 14, 2018
This game was really fun. The characters are really interesting and learning about them through various means was a blast. The atmosphere was great and the guilty vampire theme worked great with the main character and the story. I'd give it an 8 if it weren't for the terrible performance issues on the ps4. I don't know if it runs better on a more powerful PC, but the loading screens are hideously long and if you sprint across the map a loading message pops up because it couldn't load the textures of the next area fast enough. Aside from that, several things keep this from being a legendary game. If every idea and mechanic just had one additional layer of complexity it would have been amazing. Combat would have benefit from a greater variety of weapons and upgrades as well as skill upgrades. The ability to influence a civilian is the most obvious thing lacking. You learn all about their problems but you cannot convince them to do anything about it. If they hate london, you can't convince them to leave. If they're a hopeless drunk, you can't inspire them to get their life together. All you can do is either eat them, or not eat them. Similarly, they are missing from any sort of epilogue. The ability to sire one or a couple of citizens would have been badass, even if they could just do simple things, like go out and gather you ingredients or they could be given medicine to heal the sick people in a district. In any case, Vampyr is a pretty fun ride with some unique ideas, I would totally recommend it.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy - Opera Omnia8
Jun 2, 2018
I much prefer the spin-off mobile version then the actual dissidia game. I was never big on fighters and really enjoy the mechanics of dissida brought to a turn based game. Plus the game is really almost 100% free to play as they give you so much of the premium currency. I also like it better than exvius because you can use whatever character you like instead of having to worry about their star rank because they put the star ranks on equipment and not characters.

I thought this game was great. There are a lot of unique ideas at play and I didn't find the story or characters to be too generic as others have stated. In fact, I think they do a good job showing the friendship and camradarie the protaganists share. The main reason I rate this game so high is the amount of detail that went into the world. Names are mentioned but never explained and you get this sort of grand picture of the world and the people in it. Characters respond dynamically to what you do all over the world and even react differently based on who you have in the lead. There are also a lot of secrets and things to discover, some you'll have to use your brain a little to find out how to get them. Exploring the world is thoroughly enjoyable as well. I am updating my review and lowering the score because of the way the ending works out, without ever bringing the guild system to its full potential, and lack of real end game content. The spell system is also really wack, with most sorceries and sigils being largely useless for the majority of the game, save for the heal sigils.

Secret of Mana (Remaster)3
Apr 26, 2018
Was this really the best they could do? All the glaring defects of the original come back with a vengeance. You'd think they could keep the core experience in tact but update it to get rid of some of the flaws. 2 player mode is almost unplayable with it's super zoomed in screen. You just get constantly hit by enemies off screen, which is so much fun. In 3d it's a tad harder to aim range weapons too. The graphics are alright, but for some awful reason they didn't animate the mouths of people when they speak. Really, if I had wanted to play this game, I'd play it on an emulator. The new graphics really don't matter to me.

Horizon Zero Dawn9

An excellent game with a fresh and interesting setting. The main character, Aloy, really makes the game. The combat is exciting and visceral and the visuals are excellent. It has RPG elements, but they are pretty light, all things considered. Normally, I am all for heavier RPG mechanics, but this game isn't at all about weapon damage or statistics, but rather the myriad of strategies you have to employ to take down the varied enemies. There are some flaws, the game can get a little repetitive (but never really boring) and there are some eccentricities which are annoying, such as if you aren't paying attention and run 'out of bounds' it reloads your last save which could have been a while ago, because the save points are scattered about. I don't know if this is a good or bad thing, but I think I'd have preferred it if you could just save whenever. You also never really get much "stronger", as referenced by the RPG-lite mechanics. I have the best weapons in the game and comparing them to the other weapons is just like..."meh...I could probably do without these". I feel like end game items should always be powerful enough to make the game a good deal easier, as you usually have to jump through hoops to get them. Oh, and they should have made a way to rest until night or until dawn. There is no difference to the game between night and day, but I for one like to be able to see what I'm doing. Oh and I almost forgot, I really wish you had more control over Aloy's personality and what she says, but Aloy doesn't give two **** whether or not you want her to say a particular thing, she's going to do her, that's one of the reasons I love her.

Mass Effect: Andromeda1

This is very disappointing. They completely **** over male/male relationships. Just about every female I encounter I can flirt with, but you only get 2 m/m options and theyre not even well done. Then the scenes are vanilla compared to hetero, you can tell the developing team did not even want to put it in the game. Bioware did a total betray, after leading the game industry in progressiveness. The gameplay is alright, but they also seemed to screw over pure biotic/tech players as there are a million different guns and only 3 ability slots. Sure you can switch your loadout, but then they all go on cooldown and it really messes up the flow of action. The cryo perks are mostly about crafting which is mostly about weapons, so once again, it's all about non-tech/biotic builds. Also the **** whole "youre the only one who can save the world so special everyone follows you" trope was fun for one, maybe two games, but it's boring now, The story itself doesn't seem very original, making me roll my eyes more times than feel any sense of wonder.

This is a great game, on the wii, however they had to dumb down the graphics even further to run it on a system with "updated hardware". Now it looks like a playstation one game. The wii graphics were already terrible and this really makes the game unplayable. Add an extra small screen in the mix and the thing is just a mess. Bought this as soon as it came out, returned it the next day.

If you enjoy CRPGS or Pillars of Eternity, you will enjoy this. The setting a plot are interesting and unique. There are no classes and skills are increased in an Elder Scrolls manner; they improve as you use them. This allows for an incredible amount of customization and freedom of development. A few qualms prevent this game from getting a perfect score from me. The game is too short, the companions are too few and don't really have much to them in terms of development and there is no romance.

Final Fantasy XV6

Summary (tl:dr): Terrible and sometimes baffling design choices hold this game back from being a truly enjoyable experience. Many of the flaws are minor, but get bit by one mosquito and you'll swat the air around you, get bit by a hundred and you're likely to pack up and go back inside. -The Open World: This game is technically an open-world game, however it was designed without any of the freedoms that make the open-world format so much fun. Invisible walls are everywhere (one of my biggest pet-peaves in open-world games). One of these walls was a small railing that seperated a road and an accessable area. It would not let me jump over the railing. I had to find an exit. Ultimately, this is the biggest problem with how the developers handled the open-world design. They wanted to give you freedom but they couldn't give up the control. They control where you go, where you can't go and how you get there. This goes against the spirit of open-world games. -Magic: Here is one of the baffling design choices, magic is a consumable "item" with a cooldown in this game. It is also wildly overpowered, allowing me to take down the level 54 boss Midgarsormr at level 28. You also cannot really "be" a black or white mage because of the cooldown and limited spell selection. Magic should have been drastically different to allow you to progress as one of those traditional final fantasy staples.. -Difficulty: Way too easy (played on normal mode). You literally cannot die unless you either choose to, or you run out of healing items, which will probably never happen because they give you a ton and you rarely even need them. -Customization: There is no meaningful customization options. You have several skill trees to spend ability points in, however the design of this tree makes it to where you simply cannot specialize in any one style of play. There are no skills that boost your performance with a particular weapon, spell or ability for example. Every stat buff you get applies to every member if your party, so you can't give them any distinguishable rolls either. As a pro, I did like that they added skills that modify wait time mode and the exploration tree let you earn more AP based on the things you did most often. Minor Complaints: You get an MP3 player that doesn't work when you would want it to most. In battle, on chocobos and while fishing. (Minor Spoiler) The capstone bonus you get for leveling your chocobo skill is a useless assist in combat, instead of what should have been a speed/stamina/jump/glide increase or something useful and unique. They give you the option to manually drive the car, then immediately take it away for 3 chapters for no real reason (another example of the developer pointlessly dictating how you should play a game marketed as "open-world"). Sexism, the first main female character you meet is designed in an objectified way. Heteronormativity, all the characters are cis and straight.
