What is it about music and the 1960’s? Well, perhaps you had to live it to know it. But i have to say that, since we haven’t yet perfected time travel, “A Completer Unknown” may be the next best thing. And Timothée Chalamet as the incomparable Bob Dylan takes us there. There is something mystical about the music of that era that tugs at the heart strings, actually the songs, the words, poetry set to music reaches into your chest and rips the heart out, but in a wonderful way. This film brings back memories of the rise of counterculture, flower power, and Vietnam. I take it back. There is time travel because I am young again.

This film is a hidden gem. It is a mind twister and a puzzle full with misdirection. I found myself ranting a bit from irritation with the pace of the story and considered hitting the kill switch. But just as my hand hovered over it, I found myself caught in the mind trap plot. Is he or isn’t he? And then when I thought I had the plot figured out with the hero becoming the anti hero, disappointment reigns, in came another head feint. Fabulous writing and well acted.

Fabulous drama that takes you by the heart and pulls you into the center of power and intrigue in the world’s most consequential and influential church. Incredible performances by all with a plot that weaves a tapestry of ego, conscience and humility ending with a climax that is an absolute stunner. Brilliant.

Fly Me to the Moon did just that. The Apollo 11 moon landing was magic and for those of us lucky enough to be alive and aware in 1969, unforgettable. This is a charming and captivating love story, flavored by subtle comedy and moving human emotion, wrapped around a true story of accomplishment unmatched in my lifetime. I may just enjoy it again. Bravo.

Wonderful, moving story featuring the incredible McKenna Grace. Child acting at it best. She pulls you in and makes you take part in a range of emotions she expresses without fault.

Well, I kept looking for something, a movie, a comedy, a thriller, a drama, a plot. I found the plot, Brad and George, George and Brad. More power to them both.

This was basically a story about frustration converted into an overly long irritation of a film. It was “Reacher” in handcuffs. There was way too much film/video burned focused on faces/clinched jaws and not nearly enough action for what this was advertised to be. Sorry, but this is a disappointment despite the efforts and obvious talents of the male and female leads.

The film is a large helping of nonsense. Mad Max must be turning in his grave. The film is impossible to follow and insulting almost, perhaps that is the intention, of the intelligence of the viewer. Had to watch it in two segments. Couldn’t stay awake long enough to watch it all in one go. Even one of my fav actresses, Anja Taylor-Joy, couldn’t save it.
