Need for Speed Unbound7

Decent racing game with fun driving mechanics. Make no mistake, the game's story is very weak and certainly lacks in creativity or innovation. The map is also pretty dull and is unfortunately nothing to write home about. Customization is also far too identical to the previous NFS title (Heat), but the body kits are a welcome inclusion. With all this being said, I honestly really enjoyed the feel of the driving in this game. It is certainly an arcade-style driving experience (look to Grand Turismo if you want more realism on that front), but it can be very entertaining- the drifting mechanics in the races and the upgrades you can add to cars are fun to play around with. Certain courses offer a mixture of over-the-top driving experiences and intense finishes. The cops remain fun to engage with especially at higher heat levels, and a good amount of the game's soundtrack fits the vibe of the game quite well. The game as whole lacks too much for it to be anywhere near greatness, but for a game that is smaller in scope than something like Forza there is still a solid 25-30 hours of enjoyable racing content within.

The game offers some entertaining combat and a few solid boss fights. Gameplay is often satisfying and certain abilities are quite enjoyable to use. Especially considering that this is not from a big triple A studio, there are a lot of gameplay elements that deserve praise; however, it is important to understand that this game is essentially a large collection of "arena" fights, with boss fights at the end of each level. That is not automatically a bad thing, but it is important to keep in mind when considering the game. All that said, the game's story/narrative is honestly quite poor and a lot of the dialogue is rough. Having a better "home base" with more to explore/experience, more fleshed out NPCs, and a skill-tree crafted with more creativity and combinations would have been benefitted the game significantly. Pacing is all over the place as well. Considering that this is not from a massive studio studio though, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun arena shooter. Generally speaking, worth a play-through if on sale.

The highest replay value that I have ever experienced in a game. I've been fortunate to play this since day-one release years ago, and my friends and I have been coming back to it consistently since then. The concept of the game is relatively simple, however there is a wonderful recipe that Hopoo baked that makes this game so fun. Creative, distinct, awesome soundtrack, and some really entertaining survivors to play as. Getting extremely overpowered and looping multiple times with friends has created some of my favorite gaming memories. Cannot wait for the upcoming DLC and all we can hope for is that Gearbox gives the needed attention to this title moving forward.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon9

High-octane gameplay and boss fights that will blow you away. Best action game of 2023, and such a wildly fun ride. Great customization and music too. Some missions come up short and the general structure of the game will certainly not be for everyone, but this is one of the most entertaining plays of 2023.

Brilliant remake of one of the most iconic games ever made. Truly impressed with the level design and sense of immersion from beginning to end. A huge shout out to the audio/sound design as well, which is some of the best I have experienced in a long time. One of the best games of 2023, and that is saying quite a lot.

DOOM Eternal is truly one of the most entertaining and enjoyable games i have played in years. While it is not perfect, it is fps arena shooting on a whole different level. The combat is fast-paced and extremely fun, the progression/upgrade system is a lot more clever than you would think, the level design is awesome (I have zero problem with the added platforming), and it goes without saying that the game soundtrack is insanely good. The game just feels so smooth and it feels great to play. The story is also solid, particularity in the second half of the game (Taras Nabad codex entries are just awesome). The decision id software made to give players less ammo and smarter enemy AI is a big positive as well- the game wants you to learn and adapt, not just mindlessly fly through the levels. Overall, I was extremely impressed with DOOM Eternal and I can't wait for the DLC.
