Updated my review score from a ten to an eight after their BS of making anti consumer moves with upgrades and removing content to apply only for playstation exclusives. I LOVED this game but I will never support **** companies that make money grabbing decisions like this. Fabulous game with a great story and excellent combat. A truly gorgeous looking game too. The environment is amazing and stunningly rendered. Gameplay and combat are good too, let down only by some horribly difficult bosses and badly placed autosave points. UI could do with a bit of a spruce up as although there are many, many interesting documents in the game World, navigating through the unread ones in the menu is problematic. Overall though, a truly amazing game and easily makes my top 5 of all time
Very good voice acting and characters which make up for relatively simplistic and weak gameplay and story. Difficulty level needs a good hike to be truly rewarding as resources are over-abundant and checkpoints very frequent. Very little replay value but I do think the characters will stay in my memory for a long time.
Picked up this game on XBOx Game Pass out of curiosity. It's an interesting environmental puzzler, with many similarities to Portal (a game I really loved). The plot progresses well enough as you converse with the ever-present and slightly untrustworthy AI, but it doesn't quite have the magic and sparkle of GLADoS, so I found myself rather bored of the interactions after a while. The puzzles themselves are not overly tricky and indeed, some are utterly trivial... but there are a rare few that take a considerable amount of trial and error and had me scratching my head.
I have played this game many, many hours but never completed it.. Sure, it's fun and there are a bajillion mods out there to tweak it to your liking but it never really hits and keeps my interest long enough to keep going to the conclusion. It's full of bugs (thankfully, most of which can be fixed with PC mods) and the performance is terrible but it's still a fun game. I will probably never finish this game, but then again, I will probably come back and play it again in a year or two..
Definitely scratches my XCom itch and although it improves upon XCom in some areas, it also falls short in others. The gameplay is much more snappy and fast paced than XCom but the squad-building and development is poor. Missions maps are a bit repetitive and the final boss mission was a bit tiresome. Overall very enjoyable but doesn't quite match XCom because XCom has a much better squad system. Played it for free on Game Pass for PC and looking forwards to it coming to XBox with a sequel or expansion.
Played this game a long time after release and had a blast. Sure, there were a few **** issues, such as the insane AI logic and behaviours at high tier modes but overall, a lot of fun.
A worthy successor to the first game. Sure, Isaac handles like a truck and there's something just not quite right with his movement controls, but the horror is there in spades and the BEST weapon in video game history (my beloved plasma cutter). The monsters are more of the same from the first game and it would have been nice to see some innovations, but if you liked the first game and just wanted more, Dead Space 2 is right here for you. A quick word about difficulty. I played it on easy mode and regrettably, I think that was a big mistake. Much of the first game's horror is there in abundance but (on easy mode), the stakes were not that high because failure was pretty much only down to some of the short, confusing environmental cut scenes.
Visually stunning, with some expertly crafted environments and structures. Definitely light on game play and the puzzles are very simplistic. A short enough game to complete which doesn't drag and gets on with telling its story which is similarly non-complicated. Overall, very enjoyable.
Some excellent characters and audio in this game, an excellent premise for a story but the gameplay is shallow and repetitive. gearing up is minimal and every encounter feels the same.. Fun in short doses but not a game that has me coming back for more.
I didnt understand before playing that this was a Japanese style game. Simply not my thing. Fabulous hair and MASSIVE frikkin swords.. uninstalled very quickly. Thankfully this was a Game Pass title so I didn't waste any actual money on it.
Very, very frustrating game. I was enjoying the game a lot until it was totally ruined at the first boss fight, which was IMPOSSIBLE. I don't know if my game was bugged but I seemed to do absolutely no damage whatsoever to the boss (who could kill me very easily) and after many, many tries I finally rage-quit and uninstalled it. I wanted so much to like this game that I reinstalled it and tried again, only to have the same experience over and over again and uninstall for the final time. Such a shame; there was a lot of enjoyment in this game but it came to an absolute road block of failure with the boss fight.
What a disappointment. I really liked Alan Wake and was excited to play the sequel game but this was just a very low effort from them. The story was passable, only because of the main character having a back-story to play with. The game play was simplistic and the missions recycled themselves over and over with very little variation. Overall a passable game for the low price but NOTHING comparable to the original Alan Wake and I feel glad that i played the original game first because the sequel would likely have made me not bother.
What a f*cking shower of ****. So many reasons to have fun in this game but also so many reasons that it is f*cked up and frustrating beyond understanding. Always online requirement in a single player game is a monumentally stupid idea. Nothing screams frustration more than taking nearly an hour to stealthily clear an enemy base only to have the game disconnect and lose ALL your progress. Drones and helicopters fly overhead at force you to hide at regular intervals which is super un-fun. Flying robot drones and super tanky Behemoths with their magic missiles, broken stealth detection (it is literally non-existent when in ANY vehicle), spongy enemies, slow clunky, animations, horrible pathing around obstacles like hills, tripping and sliding down every incline, a massively cut down gunsmith customization system, no AI companions as there were in Wildlands, a massive open World for sure but it's empty and unlived in with an over-abundance of cut and paste broken motorcycles and patrol vehicles. The NPC's are boring and uninteresting and yet also manage to be irritating too. I finally rage-quit on the final boss mission when a bunch of goons just YOLO'd straight through my continuous barrage of LMG rounds straight to my position and one-shotted me. The game respawned me in the middle of a lake 2 minutes yomp away, all for me to die again in under 20 seconds against those tanky **** and their dont-give-a-f*ck ****. Sorry, no, this is not tactics, this is a lazy ass difficulty mechanism and a frustrating experience to play. On reflection, I should not have persevered with this game, it was as bad at the beginning as it was at the end and although i had some fun with it, the issues were always rage inducing and the whole thing reeks of being a shoddy product, pushed out the door massively over hyped and marketed. Ubisoft need to impress me a hella lot before I ever buy one of their games again. This is not just a bad game.. it's utterly disrespectful to push this out of the door in the state its in and expecting anything other than a complete and utter groin kick to your reputation as a game publisher is unfathomable.
Got this game with my Nintendo switch as a bundle and after all the high marks it received, I was very much looking forwards to playing it. What a let-down. Boring as heck and the stupidity of breaking my sword every four hits eventually led to so much frustration that I put the game down and never regretted not playing it again.
A good looking game with a weird, gruesome art-style. Cute in its own way and a little bit disgusting. Gameplay is nothing special but often had me confused, looking for around in vain for things in the environment that were not always clearly presented. Reminded me a lot of "Inside".
A reasonably enjoyable stealth game that just went on a little too long. Generally good mechanics, though there were some horrible moments where (for example) the character inexplicably jumped off into a chasm rather than hop left to the ledge you were aiming at. Generally I enjoyed it but i just got bored and frustrated too many times to really love it.
One of the few games I have played on Switch. Fun, for sure. I am a big XCom fan and it definitely hit that vibe but the setting and characters are not ones I particularly relish.
Fun play through with my daughter (10yo). Lots of nice puzzles and the 2 characters abilities work well together to overcome the enemies and challenges on each new level.
Played this game nearly 20 years after release so unsurprisingly it doesn't hold a candle to current generation games. However, it held up better than I expected and was certainly fun, if a little sparse.
Without a doubt, one of the weirdest games I have ever played. If you like an intriguing game that will have you saying "wtf" to yourself every 5 minutes, pick this one up and you will be pleased.
Fun for a short while, but the boss fights were very tedious and boring. Admittedly, I am not very good at fps games and I just don't have the patience to learn the boss's tell moves and counters so for you, this game might well rate more highly, but for me it wasn't a super hit.
A cute little game with some good puzzles and great playability. Not particularly my cup of tea, but if you like 2d games then this might be worth a look.
Had a lot of fun with this game, playing with my daughter (10yo). A wide variety of puzzle levels with some great characters with unique and interesting abilities. Worth a buy.
This game goes on for far too long and is full of repetitive one dimensional gameplay. I am probably giving this game a higher score than it deserves but at the time I played it I was desperate for some original turn based combat game and this seemed to tick the right box on that. In no way is this game a substitute for XCom, but it doesn't really have any major flaws either so the score reflects that.
Humorous point and click adventure game. Graphically it is in the pixel-art style, but that works very well for the kind of game it is. A good range of puzzles from simple to complex. Great characters and very funny.
Was a long time Fallout fan before playing this initial game in the series and enjoyed the change in style. RPG elements were great, but the UI was confusing and hard to grasp. I am pretty sure I completed this game without getting the best from it but enjoyable none the less.
Not as good as the first game but comes quite close. If you have played the first game and liked it you will probably be eager to continue the story and find out more. If you didn't like the first game, you are not going to like this one either.
Enjoyable and frustrating all at the same time. Played this game on Game Pass just before it was scheduled to be removed so I rushed it somewhat and I think I would honestly have enjoyed it more if I had taken a little more time on it. Every level has you scratching your head trying to plan your moves and use the squad's abilities in the most useful way to get you through the level. Characters are great and I really felt it when I lost one of them part way through the story. I'll probably never play this game again, but I am pleased I got the chance to complete it.
Best Horror video game I have ever played. I played it many years after its release but some of the gameplay and UI elements are still top-notch even by today;'s standards (e.g Health-bars built into Isaac's suit, dismembering enemies versus soaking them in bullets). Dead Space 2 is now on my short list.
Takes its time to get going but once you reach the second half of the game it adds a whole new take on your quest to overthrow Mordor. Hunting Orcs is super fun and the combat mechanics are challenging and offer choice between stealth and outright offensive actions. Unfortunately, it has one of the WORST endings in any video game i have ever played. The final boss battle is basically a QTE. what an utter disappointment,
What an unexpected gem **** this turned out to be. So much depth and role playing possibilities across your squad. Exciting combat and exploration in my favourite game world scenario (Post Apocalyptic). What's not to like. Gimme Wasteland 3 right now please...
On a surface level this game either under-delivers or over delivers. The game-play such as it is, is very minimal point and click/QTE cut scenes but then the decisions forced upon you feel truly memorable. The story is gripping and had me really feeling for the characters at every twist and turn in their fate. Unfortunately, re-playing through the game a second time reveals that a lot of those choices you made were ultimately meaningless as the game will get your where it intends you to be no matter how or what you decide to do. Play one chapter.. If you like that, you will like the game.. but stop there.. try a second play through and you will only feel cheated and be disappointed.
This game didn't quite gel for me. I really did love the scenario and the Metro environment was superb, but IDK why, it just didn't hit that ultimate sweet spot.
Doesn't have the depth of gameplay that say Xcom has, but is short, sweet and has a lot of charm. I would like to see more of this game in the future..
