Well Dweller5

Nothing is really wrong with this game, but its an easy 10 hours. Combat only gets more simple, as all the trinkets you can hoard just give passives (never anything to make combat more interesting). The Map reveals too much, and halfway through it does get a little boring

Clair Obscur: Expedition 3310
Apr 28, 2025
A true masterpiece in art and immersion. Everything is 9 or 10/10: voice acting, story, artstyle & presentation, music, graphics, combat, pacing. No political messaging, 4th-wall breaking, or excessive hand-holding. There's literally nothing I can complain about in the entire game. A masterclass in world-buiding and engagement, raising the bar for indies and turn-based rpgs in general.

Everhood 29
Mar 10, 2025
Pros: new mechanics are great (holding the absorb, white notes, building combos). better difficulty balance. more music and content. future mods. Neutral: gear, levels, and stats are mostly ignorable Jrpg decoration, but have utility for high scoring. Story may be harder to appreciate. Cons: early annoyances (a couple repeat mob songs are dull. one NPC is beyond chatty). immersion interruptions (grammar errors, "they" pronouns). Whereas Everhood 1 wrestles with philosophy around immortality, and the morality of euthanasia, Everhood 2 doesn't seem to have any core **** speak of time, (illusion of?) choice, and overcoming one's demons (**** I think better expands upon our understanding of the Everhood universe itself -while adding even more questions. Perhaps in contrast to the first game, Everhood 2 is trying to remind us to not take things too seriously (I'd like to think). It doesn't recreate the darker moods of the original, but feels more like a respectful parody- with more real world references and comedic scenes. Everhood 1 is a little more profound...Everhood 2 embraces playful chaos; both representing a duality in psychedelics.I don't think its possible to outdo the epicness of Everhood 1's **** while this one may seem anticlimactic, I genuinely laughed from confusion and relief. If additional playthroughs don't add more sense to the story, I've already made peace with that. The music is still fantastic, the enemies have new creative effects, and being able to build up a huge combo is just so satisfying. 8.5/10||

F-Zero 999

this has completely consumed all my free time. This is F-zero multiplayer done right, its free, its chaotic and competitive, demands your attention every second, and insanely satisfying to claim victory over 98 foes.

Blasphemous 28

Blasphemous 2's bosses didn't feel quite as epic as the original, and the game feels a little easier (with exception to its 2nd to last boss). The controls are slightly better, and gameplay is more fun with the weapon options. Not crazy for the occasional additional art style, but its not a big deal. Overall, the game kept me entertained but never surprised, or surpassed my expectations.

Evil Tonight8

exceeded my expectations for a 2d resident evil-style game. legitimately has some jumpy parts, difficulty is spot on- just takes a little time to get used to controls but they do work well. excellent atmosphere, good puzzles (although some are a bit too cryptic). bosses are very satisfying. I did 3 full playthroughs on different difficulties, no major complaints or bugs found. Its punishing but fair, visually pretty and clean, and was clearly made with love for survival and 2D topdown genres.

A phenomenal love letter to SNES JRPGs. Everything great about them, with modern convenience at every level; such as very little rng, full heals for your team after every battle, free Flees and battle Retries. Perfect balance between story, battle, and strategy, and so much content that never drags. Beating the main game is easily 60 hours, and side quests + secret final boss add another 10 hrs for sure; Amazing value. A fresh battle system that is easily understood and a fun way to encourage flexibility in your attacks (instead of spam). You only 'level up' from bosses (although you could grind to slightly improve your moves but its never required); Its about learning, and retrying with a different team setup and strategy. Personally I don't like excessive dialogue (which this game does not have), but even I wished I payed more attention by the end. Nothing to really complain about. Best JRPG of 2022

possibly my favorite game of 2022. amazing atmosphere, very fun card game. Go into this game knowing you will have to trial and error (even coming from MtG and Hearthstone) because the AI cheats and you have to learn how to prepare and adapt. You end up taking smart gambles with hard choices the game presents, that slowly but strongly changes your deck. Dark trippyness, surprises worth not spoiling, and replayability due to challenges and new cards. Game is much longer than it seems. I struggle to come to complaints 10/10

Pokemon Scarlet1

disappointing in almost every way, and impressive in none. This is just another cash-grab for the new generation. Quality and content was peak at Ultra Sun/Moon, and I'd rather those graphics any day than deal with the performance and pace of this

I was super excited to finally play this highly-acclaimed JRPG. Unfortunately this is 75% dialogue, and there can be hours of that between actual enemy areas. Its a beautiful game and I did enjoy my time, but had to stop before I got to the 4th boss. The combat is fun, but ultimately too easy, especially coming from SMT5. Its not a bad game at all, I'm sure great, but not great for me
