The Internet is brimming with tons of new F-Zero fan content born out of the game's release with musicians covering and remixing sweet tunes, artists drawing their favorite characters and vehicles, and even speedrunners streaming and making videos. While the seeds of an F-Zero revival have been sowed by F-Zero 99, diehard fans know that this may just be the beginning of a new era for our beloved racing game franchise.

Despite its relatively unchanged look, F-Zero 99 is unexpectedly refreshing. Though it may not be the return for the franchise that fans hoped for, it's a triumphant and welcome look back at Captain Falcon's first game with a clever twist. F-Zero is simply suited for the -99 style structure in ways that Tetris, Mario, and Pac-Man aren't; it was already an elimination-style battle royale, just a small one. Adding more players doesn't just feel perfect for F-Zero, it feels natural. This isn't the definitive way to play F-Zero, but it is a brilliant take that supplements what worked so well in the original with thoughtful additions that make chasing victory utterly addictive.

F-Zero 99 currently represents the most richly crafted offering to emerge from the wave of nostalgia-driven endeavors on Nintendo Switch Online. Without deviating from the original formula, the company has chosen to set it against an immensely entertaining backdrop that nods to battle royale dynamics, creating a fast-paced and immediately addictive experience. On one hand, it serves as the perfect hook to introduce newcomers to the essence of the series, and any longtime fan should definitely give it a chance; on the other hand, experiences of this kind have been known to fade prematurely without a trace. The hope is that it will prove to be a small yet enjoyable interlude, paving the way for the series' grand return, perhaps alongside the Grande N's new console.

A satisfying blend of high-speed action, chaos, and strategy makes this glorious revival of the F-Zero franchise stand out. Let's hope it won't be another 19 years before we get another game in the series.

F-Zero 99 is a true love letter to the fans of the series: after almost 20 years since the last chapter, Nintendo has released the definitive and modern edition of a game that is now over 30 years old.

The 99-player highspeed-races are a fun experience but you can't call it a traditional battle-royale game. With a great ranking system and its nostalgic tracks and fun modes for added variety F-Zero 99 shows what the series always was about while still being unique on its own.

We thought F-Zero was dead and buried since 2004. But with F-Zero 99, Nintendo made a nice surprise by bringing the Golden Fox and the Blue Falcon out of the garage. The gameplay sensations of the time are intact and both beginners and beginners can enjoy this modernized iteration thanks to its unique and energized parts. However, and quite logically, it will not replace an entire episode (remaster or new game) that many fans were waiting for. The fault is very little content at the moment and the absence of a multiplayer mode. F-Zero 99 will bring a smile back, even if only for a few hours, to all fans of the license who have been patient for 19 years. And that's already not bad.

This is the most addictive game available on the switch and One of the best multiplayer experience you can have. It’s up there with the likes of Mario kart, smash bros, and Splatoon. Nintendo has somehow figured out how to make this run without issue and the gameplay is Stellar. One of my fav games of all time already !

The game is good, but not the best, and not the worst. The controls are simple, yet so difficult and sensible (maybe it's just lack of skill but still). Very chaotic and fun though! Having a training section helps a lot too! If you have a Nintendo Switch Online membership you should give it a try!

Un mode entraînement est également disponible, mais il faut d’abord débloquer les circuits en les affrontant en ligne avant de pouvoir s’y exercer librement. Le jeu inclut aussi des conseils dans les menus pour aider les nouveaux joueurs à progresser, une attention bienvenue tant l’action peut paraître chaotique au départ.Côté gameplay, F-Zero 99 reprend les sensations de pilotage à grande vitesse de l’épisode Super Nintendo tout en ajoutant plusieurs nouveautés. La plus marquante est la voie céleste : une piste temporaire suspendue au-dessus du circuit que l’on peut atteindre en collectant de l’énergie, permettant de gagner un net avantage de vitesse. L’attaque tournoyante permet de repousser les concurrents pour les mettre hors-piste ou briser les véhicules trop proches. Un système de pilotage assisté peut être activé pour rendre l’expérience plus accessible, même si les joueurs expérimentés préféreront probablement un contrôle **** progression ne se limite pas aux courses. Les joueurs gagnent de l’expérience et montent de niveau, débloquant des options de personnalisation de leur machine, des cartes de pilotes, des emoticônes et des statistiques pour suivre leurs performances. La position de départ lors des courses est tirée au sort, ce qui ajoute un élément de variété et d’imprévisibilité.F-Zero 99 propose également des modes variés : outre le classique affrontement à 99 joueurs, il existe un Mini Prix, des combats par équipe, et des événements spéciaux organisés à intervalles réguliers. Pour participer aux Grands Prix, il faut accumuler des tickets en jouant, ce qui motive à revenir régulièrement. Une idée originale est le système de rivaux : le jeu vous désigne quelques adversaires à battre, et même en terminant 20e, vous pouvez avoir la satisfaction d’avoir battu tous vos rivaux.Dans l’ensemble, F-Zero 99 réussit à moderniser la licence tout en respectant son ADN. Sa gratuité pour les abonnés Switch Online en fait un passage obligé pour les amateurs de sensations fortes, et son système de progression donne envie de revenir encore et encore. Il ne remplace pas un nouvel épisode « classique » que de nombreux fans attendent toujours, mais il prouve que Nintendo n’a pas oublié cette série culte.

This is not the skill-based game from SNES; it is a "you win if we let you" program. It feels like it's leading up to a pay-to-win type of app.
