This is a great game. It doesn't hold your hand. Controls are quirky but once you get used to them it's fine. Love the rougelike combat mixed with classic rpg elements. The world is fun to explore, the pixel art is pretty and very well animated. Good sense of nostalgia.

If you release a game on PC, it should preferably actually be playable on PC. Not only are the graphics broken as far as performance goes, but most unforgivable to me, is the lack of controller support from a game that claims to have full controller support. None of my controllers work at all with this game, and this is just not the kind of game that works well with a keyboard and mouse. Completely unplayable on PC at the moment, perhaps if fixes come in the next few weeks I will give it another chance. If it takes longer than that I'll have moved on already. We PC gamers are pretty tired of getting shafted by game creators that release games in an unplayable state recently, I think. At this point you will just lose my support and attention entirely but pulling this crap.

This game does well in most areas, but one thing that really stood out to me was the way that it is designed so that you are rewarded for doing good deeds and cleaning up areas instead of destroying things. People say this game is like Zelda, but you won't find this protagonist breaking all the pottery in the world to find the money inside... instead she notices a statue that has fallen over and restores it to its place in the forest shrine, and is rewarded. This might seem like a small change but it really makes a big difference in allowing the player the feeling of being a benevolent force instead of a destructive one, and I'd like to see more game studios design their world interactions from a place of positivity in this way in the future.

I had to come back and change my review after playing for a few hours. The beginning is buggy and annoying to get through. But once you push through to the heart of the game, it is very good. I feel it is a worthy successor to the past games, and it has created some great moments for me. That said there are occasional bugs or annoyances - I especially don't love the save system. Altogether if you liked the first couple games I highly recommend sticking with it.

I'm also surprised that this game got good reviews. It's abysmal and thoroughly disappointing. If you want to run around like an idiot clicking furiously and hoping that your hits connect, this is the game for you. It's not "difficult", it's stupid and mostly luck whether you win in a melee or not. Totally buggy, none of the features work like they should. Online players are jerks and seem to be an average of 12 years old. The only emotion this game causes is frustration. I really don't understand how anyone enjoys it.
