13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi2
May 24, 2016
You are an american redneck, who longs for more terrorist action movies with muslim men praying beside their AK-47s? Are you looking for bearded nationalistic and overly idealized heroes (like Chris Kyle in American Sniper)? Do you want them to talk about literally nothing of substance over the entire movie - so your brain doesn't hurt at the slightest attempt to retain an original thought? Do you like stock footage of soldiers getting onto airplanes, soldiers talking to their stock photo families over iPads in what could be an advertisement on the TV? Do you like slow pan drone footage of buildings, iron rods, cars and brick walls exploding in unexplainable sparks? Do you like Americans, making derogatory comments about helpful arabs standing right next to them, do you generally like helpful foreigners - such as the translator in the movie - portrayed as cowardly, spineless, birdbrained and fatuitous to help you over your own inferiority complex? Well, then this movie is definitely for you! Odds are, you are a right winged nationalist with little educational background and too much time on your hands, whining about those foreigners who keep stealing all the jobs. Well done. You are making your country proud!

I Love You, Man8

Funny and awkward it made me laugh and cringe so many times over, I think I'm an aqua pump. The actors are good, the dialogue is spritzy and funny. ...........................................................

Intriguing concept but terribly boring execution. First of all they only capture the american point of view, staring through their cameras. I consider it a missed opportunity to not colour it from the talibans side, of how terror only leads to more terror. Second of all I really despise the casting choice. Mainly the protagonist only switches between cool silence and grumbly one-liners, which made me want to drill my earholes AND eyes out, because he can't act. I'm serious! He can't! A stone statue would have played the part better. After 50 minutes he laughs for the first time, and I was as surprised as you would be if a man with facial paralysis started moving his face. No kidding. But the visuals of Afghanistan are nice enough I suppose, however interchanged with boring interiors 50/50. I'm kinda sad, because it is a topic that a film is worthy capturing, but this film managed so poorly. There were so many missed opportunities, wrong design and character choices, that led to this unengaging plot. There was definitely potential. So overall, can't recommend.

It's not an action film (obviously), but a somewhat curious tale that tells a story of cascading actions, that result in crime. The ending really got me thinking, which is always the callsign **** movie. Great cast, great acting, great pacing. Teresa Palmer is really a lovely actress who made the film work for me. This time she plays a simpleminded countrygirl, who manages to be so lovely that it really contrasts into a somewhat melancholy boyish feeling. John Malkovich is great as well. It's a very 'american' film with a real retro country in the hills, far from the city, vibe. Sad and beautiful the same.

Match10

Match is just the perfect example of a fresh movie, in every literal aspect of the word. The story is fresh - every twist and turn is new and you won't see it coming. Although I did a have a premonition about the hook, it didn't turn out exactly how I imagined. And the movie is just so incredibly well acted, it **** you in and takes you on this exciting ride where you get goosebumps at these haunting moments - that I really experienced en massé - as these complex characters unravel before your eyes in unpredictable and oddly charming ways. And this is the perfect description for the film: Oddly charming, but completely fascinating! If you are at all in any way interested in the art of film, you shouldn't miss this film for the world.
