The game is fun in theory, the live pokemon battles are engaging and a fun way to spice up the same ole turn based formula, however, everything else is just under cooked. The plot makes little sense, they murdered the designs of existing characters, the new MEGA designs look like 4-chan knock offs, the environment is stale and boring, the explore is minimal to none, and the world feels much smaller than Legends Arceus which this game supposedly builds upon. Overall this game feels like they just put out a product at the bare minimum, to get by fans, and keep Nintendo happy during the holiday season in order to sell off the name alone.

This game reminds me of BOTW and Skyrim in gameplay if they married into a Ubisoft family. It also reminds me of an elden ring like experience. The theme and tone are really deep and the story throws you right into a war bound country that catches you up as you go along. The game does a great job of giving you bite size information as you go along, making the next step easy but hard to anticipate. I really enjoyed this one and my only gripe was the clunkiness that the combat sometimes caused.
