ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs

ReStory has a great gameplay loop and the decisions the devs made around it helped complement it instead of detracting from it or working against it. A perfect example being that you can dictate the pace of progression for yourself. You're not being rushed through the story before you can unlock everything nor are you required to unlock everything to finish the story. This is a really polished game. While not perfect, there are some things here and there that could've been better handled but for the most part those issues are minor and not game-breaking issues. And on a side note I realized this game was so enjoyable because I'm playing a self-employed person. As dumb as that sounds its true. With age my power fantasies have turned from being an unstoppable force with powers to being self-employed and doing something I enjoy. So with a pinch of bias but mostly being objective, I'm giving ReStory a solid 8.

In terms of a rating for this game I genuinely did want to love this game. I am a zombie fan since ages ago and hadn't played anything zombie related in a long while. I hoped this game would scratch that infection mark. While I do like some elements in this game and think they've executed some ideas well that have helped pick up the final rating a bit, ultimately I think the core gameplay issues like movement and aiming really let this game down for me. Even if its primary platform might be PC, if the game is on console it needs to work sufficiently on consoles. So with all that in mind the PS5 version gets a 6.

This game is more of objective 7.5 due to some short-comings in gameplay or presentation but on a personal/biased level this game is a 9 for me and most likely my personal GOTY 2026 so far. Great humour, great writing, unique presentation of dialogue, voice acting in the native language is great. 2.5 presentation style is really cool and unique. Surprisingly this game touches on some very heavy subject matters despite the quirky and colourful aesthetic of characters and the environment. This game really does a great job of painting humanity for you. Just when you think you can condemn someone for their actions you then see the reasons and causes and you start to reconsider whether you had the right assessment. An amazing game that I kind of think of now and again. That's how I know this game was pretty special that I would think about its narrative after I've finished playing it. My only regret is that I can't experience it again for the first time. Works well on steam deck too, so you can play on the go or away from your set up.

This game was fun to play. I enjoyed it a lot which is no surprise as I enjoyed the first game very much too. I guess the concern someone might have is what improvement can be made from the previous game considering its a very straight-forward game mechanic-wise. I feel they mostly delivered on that front and did it in an organic way where the world and characters justified the changes around using the new blood tide and sanity beads mechanics. I also like the story and how they fleshed out this world a bit more. I hope there is more to come and I think there still is plenty of stories to be told in this world. This game is definitely for fans of the first game, lovers of RPGs that lean heavily on consequence of choices and lovers of visual novels and anything that has fantasy elements. I can't quite describe it but there is something that feels a bit different with Prince Jerian the game compared to Sir Brante the game. To be fair I haven't quite gone back to do an in-depth comparison but there is just something that doesn't quite hit the same. It doesn't make Prince Jerian worse per se but something I think is fair to acknowledge. Also there is discourse around AI use when I played this game at launch. Tbh I am not so sure about it and I cant remember seeing anything on the page about it at launch time. At the time of uploading this review that may have changed. Something to consider if you're against AI use in your art and entertainment. I highly recommend you up the first game too if you like Prince Jerian. My actual rating for Prince Jerian would be a 7.5 but due to Metacritics system it will have to round down to 7.

This is a fun quirky game that's got a lot of charm and character and looks to have been made with a lot of fun and care. Its self-described as a 'papers-please-em-up' but it would be a disservice to say its just papers please but with trading cards. There are some great ideas in this game and and what little narrative there is, it had a lot of humour. One of the soundtracks too is really catchy, I stopped working for my Habubis Corporation overlords when that song came on. This game also works well on my Steamdeck OLED so you can play this on the go or away from your main set up. For the price I paid for this game and the entertainment I got out of it for over 10 hours (hadn't unlocked everything within that time so completionists will be happy) this was worth the money I spent.

TL:DR - This is a great game that showcases the very best of what IO Interactive has learned from its first Hitman game up until now. This pokes its head out from among the crowd of its peers as a modern bench-mark of what a single player action adventure game can be.

TL:DR - Its an ok game. More so for NBA fans. If you hoped to get something reminiscent of series like NBA Jam or NBA Street, you're not going to get that. . . . . . . There are some cool ideas in this game, especially the mini tournament format but ultimately there's not enough here to keep you captivated and wanting to return. I also didn't like the pricing for this game. This game was a bit more expensive on release than what I thought its true value was after spending a couple of days playing it.

TL:DR - a very unique boomer-shooter with an equally unique visual style. A good game lacking just a few polishing touches on gameplay that would make it an 8 . . . . . This game was almost an 8 for me but there were a few things missing in terms of gameplay that would've pushed it into that zone. I will be watching for DLC and maybe even a sequel as I believe if the devs can improve on this game, we'll have something really special.

TL:DR - This is great alternative to EA FC, it might not have the same level of polish but this is a great offering for a team of devs wanting to compete in a heavily dominated niche genre of video game. . . . . . . . . Gameplay is fun enough to go back to it and it is F2P with reasonable MXT. Some of the features are inspired like players aging and being randomized. This scratches the itch I have to play EA FC without having to buy the same game every year or 2.

TL:DR - The biggest crime Insomniac committed here was making an average game. Its no bad, its not amazing, just average and that is its own unique style of disappointing. . . . . . . . They had plenty of opportunities here really push the boundaries of the action-adventure/superhero genre maybe like what Batman Arkham Asylum did. Rather than try and possibly fail or succeed. They've played it safe and made something 'OK'. I think we would've got a more inspired Wolverine game from some starving indie devs with a fraction of the budget. My actual score would be 6.5 but 6 it is.
