ReStory is a relaxing game that combines the laid-back sense of accomplishment from repairing things with a well-designed gameplay loop that keeps you coming back for more. It’s almost hard to believe that scrubbing down metal frames and twisting screws could be such a pleasant activity, but I can’t stop doing it to unwind. If you’re in the market for a chill game that scratches your brain in a totally unique way, you cannot miss ReStory.

At this point in 2026 I have played a lot of video games for review, and I haven’t even begun to think about my GOTY list. But I can tell you right now, without a shadow of a doubt that ReStory: Chill Electronics Repair will make my list. I found myself just enthralled with the gameplay and its loop; earning money to get better licenses, especially for stuff I actually owned. I cannot recommend ReStory enough, its blend of great vibes, chill music and wacky customers is just what the doctor ordered for a quiet night in.

ReStory has a great gameplay loop and the decisions the devs made around it helped complement it instead of detracting from it or working against it.
A perfect example being that you can dictate the pace of progression for yourself. You're not being rushed through the story before you can unlock everything nor are you required to unlock everything to finish the story.
This is a really polished game. While not perfect, there are some things here and there that could've been better handled but for the most part those issues are minor and not game-breaking issues.
And on a side note I realized this game was so enjoyable because I'm playing a self-employed person. As dumb as that sounds its true. With age my power fantasies have turned from being an unstoppable force with powers to being self-employed and doing something I enjoy. So with a pinch of bias but mostly being objective, I'm giving ReStory a solid 8.

ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs is proof that you don’t really need a compelling story when taking apart old gadgets is this darn satisfying. Its Y2K nostalgia, detailed machines, and addictive restoration work make it an easy game to sink hours into, even if its characters struggle to keep up. What’s important is the work in front of you, and that’s enough to send you into a flow state of endless tinkering.

ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs takes a genuinely niche premise and turns it into one of the most relaxing and surprisingly fun simulators I’ve played in a long time. You don’t need to own a soldering iron or care about vintage tech to fall for this one. The narrative mystery alone will grab you. If you do care about electronics repairs, however, then I suggest you prepare yourself for your newest addiction.

This cosy shop sim combines 2000s nostalgia, restoration mechanics and a turbulent storyline for hours of fiddly fun.

ReStory is an enjoyable electronics repair simulator that excels at setting and nostalgia-inducing products to repair. It was so fulfilling being able to work on old devices I've come up with, like PSPs, DS, BlackBerrys, and Atari consoles, and the mid-2000s Japan setting really sets the mood nicely. The cast of characters is great, and the story is decent when it isn’t confusing, but it’s very easy to fall into a repetitive cycle that shuts out a lot of the variety that comes from all the devices we can work on.

If you have fond memories of flip phones, portable music players, old consoles, and the strange plastic technology of the early 2000s, the nostalgia here is potent and combined with the job simulator-esque gameplay, it makes for a nice little game to pick up when you are looking for some relaxing fun with a simple and short plot with more of a focus on satisfying repairs. ReStory is not quite the definitive repair simulator it could have been. It's a pleasant, visually attractive, and occasionally engrossing project that understands the appeal of tinkering, but its repetitive structure and relatively shallow dialogue and narrative hold it back.

A fun, relaxing and cozy game that doesn't punish you for missing deadlines or anything like that. What's more, there aren't even any strict timers for tasks, so you can just relax. The plot itself is rather banal, but fortunately, it doesn't have time to suffocate you and the game ends right at the moment it starts to get tedious.

A chill repair game centered around older game consoles and handhelds. It does scratch that itch and is a step above some of the other games that fall into the same category. It also has the Atari license so you get some official Atari systems in there like the 2600 and the Lynx. The story and dialog with the characters/customers you meet is fine, but it isn’t going to make or break you on buying this game. I finished the story in about 9 hours. There is bit more to do after if you want to clean up some achievements, but it starts to feel a bit tedious around then, as 10 hours seem to be as much as I wanted to play.
