Disclaimer: I'm not a hater, I'm 58, I've nothing against or in favor of "woke", LGBTQ+ or anything related. I'm progressive minded and a player since I was 12 years old (on an Apple II). My rating is not to "counterbalance" anything: it's the very rating I feel technically applies to this excuse for a RPG. All of this said, I've been playing Veilguard for 12 hours on PC through Steam, and I can easily say that: - This game has NOTHING to do with Dragon Age saga. NOTHING at all. - This game is NOT an RPG by any means, not even an ARPG. - This game is composed ONLY by: corridors, chests, arcade fights, cutscenes... and that's it - Animations and faces are terrible- Enemies look like taken straight from a fairy tale. Cringy an cheesy as hell.- The overall look reminds me of a mobile game for kids: this game is aimed to a 8 years old target. - This games look like an MMO or a Live Service Game, same structure, patterns, mechanics, emptiness, standardization, repetitivity, - Everything is "Disney like", colours palette and spark effects included - Outside fights interactivity is non existant: you can't talk to anyone in a town, you can interact only with scripted objects/characters. - Puzzles are ALWAYS an auto-resolving joke, clearly aimed to a kid - Fights are as easy as a fight can be. They are ALL keys spamming based encounters, with no actual tactical depth whatsoever. Invulnerability windows are so wide you can "teleport" your character left and right avoiding any attack. ANY! - Writing is pathetic and cringe, out of place, irrelavant, shallow to the point it sounds AI made. It sounds like if writing has been pasted on a Live Service content. - Screenplay is of the kind you would expect in a Marvel/Disney movie/game/cartoon/comics - Characters are caricatural, grotesque, and in no circumstance you can feel some sort of emotional attachment; - You CAN'T roleplay your character, you have to accept what developer have chosen for you since scratch. No single conversation offer you the chance to change any outcome nor develop your character persona as you wish. You can't be the "evil guy", and not even the "very good guy", your role is fixed since scratch. And that's it. "0" is way too much for such a game.

An adorable FPS that looks like a cartoon and plays like a wonder. Witty humour, variety, top notch graphical compartment and wonderful characters. This is a 10 out of 10 hands down.

Everyone around is talking about this abhorrent game as a "point & click" adventure, but, alas, it is not! This IS NOT a point & click adventure, this is an adventure game plagued by a terrible navigation, tons of glitches and infinite loading times whenever you open a door.

One thing is for sure, this game is not for: - Spoiled adolescent/kids in general, mostly between 8 and 16 years old. Exceptions are possible, mature adolescent able to think with their own brain exists, but, again, are to be considered exceptions. - Noobs proud to be noobs - “Refund heroes”: people who judge an RPG in 15 minutes - People who grew up playing Assassin’s Creed, Batman Arkham Knight, Call of Duty, Dragon Age Inquisition, Skyrim and the like. And who measure the rest of the of the world against those. - People with the attention span of a dead squid. - People who get bored if no explosion/fireworks/earthquake/Cthulhu appearance happens in the very first 30 minutes of play ****. - People who get bored if they can’t level every 20 minutes. - People who need a tutorial to use a tutorial. (Experimenting is out of the question) - People who need to be reassured at every step; who need to be hand held all the time; who need cues, indicators, suggestions, maps, bright coloured inventory e writings, pizzas and energy drinks all over. - People who think combat is all about mashing mouse buttons standing still in front of an enemy designed to instantly die under their crowbar hits. - People who think combat is all about fluid precalculated animations, linked to each other like a dance. - People who think that the first monster they encounter (in perfect chronological and spatial order) should be an inert sacrificial goat that can’t kill them. - People who think that “dated graphics” are graphics that “are not on the very bleeding edge”. - People who judge RPG based on graphics, animations and colours of the inventory screen. - People who, when encountering something they don’t understand, rage quit and write hysterical rant reviews on Steam with the “well reasoned” following sentences: § “This game required another 3 years of development” § “This game is unplayable” § “This game looks like it was developed 15 years ago” § “First Doom had better graphics” § “Combat is broken” § "This game is a pile of s*it" § "This game is trash" (actual quotes taken straight from Steam reviews titles!).

Great game. Not only runs smooth like butter even on average rigs, but the gameplay is very rich and refreshing. A nice mix of shootem, puzzle solving a la Zelda, nice story, powers to unlock, weapons to upgrade, stuff to rycicle in order to craft other stuff... Lot of exploration, and so many nice touches. One of the best game of this year.

I'm sorry, but this game is a real letdown. While it is great under a visual point of view, the game is just the umpteenth "walking simulator", with some artificial and forced jump scares here and there (loud sounds, flash, falling stuff...). It's all about opening doors - one after the other, on a rigid, track - and opening drawers and cupboard where you find nothing except from some sparse piece of paper with some hints on the story.Story that is copy-pasted from Oscar Wilde and H.P. Lovecraft. Nothing to do, no choice to make, not a single one, ever. You just walk, walk, walk, looking at psychedelic effects all around you, waiting for you next door you MUST open to **** puzzles throughout the whole game: some numbers to put into a lock and to phone to. While I truly appreciate the atmosphere and the visuals, that's all to it: there is nothing else in this "game". A game, in the game, would have been truly appreciated. Let's clear it out. I'm not a "COD gamer", i truly appreciate slow paced, insightful and intimate gaming, story and atmosphere heavy. Still I think this is just the kind game you make when you are short of ideas and developers, and high in visual artists and art directors, and you want just to leverage on an engine graphic library. This "game" is lazy, that's the truth. The deranged mind of the main character (actually the only one) is just an excuse for tons of nonsensical stylistic choices: if you are narrating the story of a mad man, any kind of room swirling around, flashes, melting, popping, moving object, crying, ringing, it's ok. Just throw in something that sounds and look crazy, and it's done. Lazy, the game is just lazy. The game is lazy even about the horror. There is nothing horrific in the game, there is nothing scary, not even vaguely disturbing. The game is all about CHEAP scary jumps. So cheap to the point of getting pathetic. You close a door behind you and suddenly a loud bang goes out: nothing happened, no reason for a bang, nothing caused it, but you just jump... like when a friend of yours (usually the most stupid and resourceless one) fill a plastic bag with air and the smash it just behind you. Again, you are in a silent room looking around, and the very second you give your shoulder to a picture on the wall, the picture falls down with a loud boom. And you jump. Or you are walking in a corridor and suddenly a rat cross it... Cheap, cheap, cheap. The game is even more of a letdown if - given the gorgeous graphics - you think to what it could have been with some sort of gameplay in it - any kind of gameplay. Someone to interact with, some adventuring (finding stuff, combining items, discovering the secret, having a part in the **** know, that sort of stuff), some roleplaying (in the strict sense of playing a role)... anything. Such a wasted opportunity. A "game" (visual book?) for those who appreciated "To the moon", "Firewatch", "The Park", "The Beginner's Guide", "Homesick", "The Vanishing of Ethan Carter" (this one has at least a minimum of gameplay) or the infamous Dear "Esther". Anyone else should avoid.

On these platform there is a bunch of people that are simple LYING about this game. I heard people talking about bad graphics, dated engine, bad performances, low res texture and impossible requirements for very high settings. Those ARE PLAIN LIES: This the most optimized AC ever. Graphics are shining, textures as high res as a texture can be. On my 780ti runs at Very High with just 3 Gb of Vram, and it's always smooth as butter. The game is incredibly varied, setting is fascinating, two main characters adds even more diversity to the game. So, if you just want to bash a famous game for the sake of it (and I fully understand that Metacritic User Score has been inventend with that specific aim in mind) just choose a more suitable victim. This game is great, and it's the best AC ever published.

This game is a real letdown. And I just don't want to use a "bad needed bad word" here. Let's leave alone the fact you can easily complete it in less than one hour and an half. Let's leave alone that it doesn't involve any kind of skill whatsoever. Let's leave alone that you can't actually die, lose or get stuck. After a few minutes you understand that your character doesn't run any risk whatsoever... and there any real suspance is lost forever. Let's leave alone that - in order to make the game last at least 1 hour and one half and to save on models and architectures - the developers used the dirty trick of randomizing the level layout in real time: the placement of rooms, corridors and doors change while you are actually moving through them. That means that you have to wander aimlessly until the game decides to pop up the item/note you need (in a place where you have already been many times before) and lets you move on. Let's leave alone that half the equipment you are given in the game is totally useless (what's the point of a flashlight that needs batteries, when you already have an inexhaustible lighter that light up all around you?). You are given Lithium, but you don't need it at all: I've never used it. I don't even know what it is for. And anyway, even if you care, you aren't given the time to discover about it because the game ends way before you even have a chance to start thinking about it... Let's leave alone that there is no scarcity of rechargeable stuff at all (torch batteries and pills are everywhere)... and survival feel is gone forever. Let's leave alone that anyone who's suffering from ANY kind of motion sickness or migraine at ANY deegre of severity simply cannot play this game. Now that we "have left alone" everything, well, nothing is left to consider... Even the very final scene - that, as a concept, is the only redeeming aspect of the game - is so expected and predictable (due to the notes you MUST collect all around during the game) that the whole thing lose instantly any possible interest whatsoever. And all of this for *just* 20 bucks. Yuck! If this is "indie", please, gimme back that stinking piece of garbage of Assassin's Creed Unity everyday!

Alien: Isolation

User ScoreRazor66

Ok, let's put it straight. Alien Isolation IS an aesthetically nice game. Nice graphics, lots of atmosphere, made in the true spirit of the movie it draws inspiration from. BUT... it's just a long, boring, sluggish, pedantic exercise in stealth movement and "trial and error" approach. It's DAMN HARD! While the Alien AI is as rigid as a plank (it's totally scripted), it takes MANY tries to overcome a single section. And, above all, you have to walk, and walk, and walk, through a neverending obscurity, along winding tunnels, winding paths, winding corridors that takes you to another corridor, another path, another door, with NOTHING that happens in between. You can actually spend hours (I mean it!) under a table, or in closet, just to be instantly killed and have to start it again from the last save point. And, yes, the poor saving system doesn't help to get out from this quagmire of frustration. FRUSTRATION and STRESS at its best. To the point that, at a certain moment, while you are playing, it's impossibile not to ask to yourself what's the point of all this wandering around, opening doors "Zelda style" (once you need crowbar, then you need a decoder, then some sort of lance...), repeating the same section again and again and again until you get it right. Alien Isolation is a very good simulator of an hell of a life. It simulates very well how stressfull can be being chased by an invulnerable alien, and some other guys you don't have the slightest chance to overcome in combat. As such simulator, the game is tense. But one should accept this level of frustration and stress ONLY if he were actually try to escape from an Alien unbeatable creture! Got my point? A lot (a lot!) of wasted potential

This is game is abysmal. It belongs to the category of those games that "play themself". There us nothing to do apart from lingering around, and press a button when on the screen appears THAT button. One of the most boring game I've ever played in my entire life: in comparison L.A. Noir has ton of thrills around every corner. Really, there is no challenge whatsoever,it is closer to an interactive novel than to a game. And it's a pity, because the story in itself has some reasons to be. Unfortunately there is no gameplay whatsoever.
