This game receives an excessive amount of criticism for what it truly is. It provides a novel experience that offers distinctive gameplay for approximately two hours. While it may not be worth the price of twenty dollars, it serves as an enjoyable and brief diversion if you have access to Game Pass, allowing you to progress through it effortlessly. It even concludes with a pleasant message. Admittedly, there are superior puzzle games available, but the unique perspective mechanic makes this game worthy of your attention.
This game really surpassed all my expectations. I thought the gameplayloop was satisfying and rewarding, so much so that it didn't get boring after ~30 hours. My only gripes really were that the performance isn't that great with fps going below 30 sometimes. The story also didn't grab me as much as I'd hoped, but it's still decent. Going into this you should really just watch a review or some gameplay (unlike some people reviewing this game). It's not open world and it's a roguelike and it's not really a horror game. Not that that's a bad thing, you just need to be clear on that before going in. And with thar, I drive.
Let's start with the good (there isn't a lot): this game doesn't have any bugs and is pretty polished over all. It's also free so I can't complain too much. Anyway, now here's the bad: the worst part is that this game is not scary. There is basically no scary atmosphere and only one monster, the design of which isn't terrifying at all btw. Theres about 4 or 5 chase sequemces, which are also not scary, but more so annoying. You basically do loops around the monster and continue. The final confrontation is so disorienting that I almost quit right there. The story is fine, it handles some important topics, but there is a twist at the beginning which anyone can see coming from a mile away, and character development that could have happened in the first 10 minutes of the game doesn't happen until the last few minutes for no reason. The way the story is told is also so annoying. It stops you in your tracks every few minutes in an unorganic way most of the time to show you a cutscene and move the plot along. In total there was probably one segment I really enjoyed, because it shows what it wants to say in an organic and original way without relying on cutscenes. I also did not like the protagonist all too much. This is definitaly not a silent hill game. I'd ve com9laining way more, but again, I can't really argue with the price of free too much.
Alan Wake 2 has one of the most interesting storys I have witnessed in a Videogame. The way it tells its narrative is also amazing and has really never been done before. It has interesting characters and works on its own, as well as a sequel. The soundtrack is also a certified banger. My only complaint is the gameplay, specifically the combat. It can feel pretty clunky sometimes, especially if theres more than four enemies at once. All that still isn't enough to drag the game down too much and I still think it's a must play, even if you're not into survival horror.
Hellblade is a good example of what videogames can accomplish. Especially the psychosis and schizophrenia depicted is really interesting and hasn't really been done before or since. The story is pretty decent and the graphics are really good. The combat is fine, tho can feel a little clunky, the puzzles can be fairly repetitive, but Hellblade is a very good game nontheless.
Man this game is such a cluster of creativity. I could mever imagine Insomniac making a game like this today. From it's humor to the gameplay it's just full of exaggerated whacky shenanigans. It's soundtrack also rocks. It got to the point that I was actually disppointed when I got one of the "normal" weapons in the game. The traversal is so much fun, and you can even see what I can only assume is the origins of the wall running in the recent spider man games. What an exhilarating game. I would definetaly recommens this and say that it's a mist play if you own an xbox.
Such a charming little game that really lives up to it's name (only takes an hour or two to complete). A perfect bite sized experience with a fitting soundtrack and nice sound design. I had a few moments where the controlls really infuriated me, other than that the game is perfect for what it is. Sadly the artstyle wasn't my thing here, though I can see plenty of people liking it.
A tricky platformer that didn't make me want to obliterate my controller (unlike hollow knight) and instead made me want to push forward (kind of line celeste). The movement is extremly satisfying with interesting abilities you can unlock. What also surprised me was that this actually had a pretty decent story. It's not the best story ever by a long shot, even some other platformers (even if, sadly, very few) have better ones in my opinion. A great way to round off the year.
Honestly, this game was a blast. It's really fun to just race around at 300 km/h and the graphics are gorgeous. I do think the open world is a bit lacking and feels empty at times and that the racing gets repetitive after a while. But as somebody who doesn't consider himself to be a racing game fan, this took me by surprise and I would recommend it.
Man I wanted to love this game so badly. Instead I "only" liked it. Don't get me wrong the story is really good, but I don't think it's as deep as I wanted it to be. The [E]nding still hits hard, but I don't think it's the "I need a break from reality" ending that a lot of people were making it seem to be before I played it. I enjoyed the combat a lot more than I expected, especially since I don't typically play action rpgs. The soundtrack is an absoulte artistic masterpiece, probably in my top 5 OSTs. I understamd the appeal of this game and why people call it a masterpiece. But I just have a different vision of what a masterpiece is. It's definetely a very special game that I still would recommend, but my search for a game with a story (and especially an ending) thats as good as red dead redemtion 2's still remains.
Good game with really well thought out and fun mechanics and after ~15 hours I feel like I only scratched the surface. But also, I probably won't keep playing it. I have seen all of the mechanics and tbh, after 20 or so hours it kinda gets stale.
It's a really good Gollum-like. Bad graphics, physics, servers, predatory in game purchases and a toxic community all add up to a bad experience. It's only redeemed by the fun that you can have with friends while making fun of it and it's bugs.
It was fine. It's really a game for when you feel like "I really wanna play Uncharted, but also don't want to replay an old one." It really does feel like that to me, not to say that I enjoyed it any less. It just didn't stick to me as much as uncharted 4 did, not to say it should or anything. It's good in it's own way.
Another challanging game I surprisingly enjoyed. The artstyle is so unique and the music is just peak. Obviously the boss battles are great and I'm already excited to play the dlc.
For what it is, it's amazing. It offers a fairly deep story and has amazing platforming. I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed this, since I don't usually like challenging games (demon's souls, elden ring, hollow knight, etc.). Really loved this game and I would absoulutely recommend it if you haven't played it.
Honestly it's what you expect. It's a really fun and creative platformer which also looks beautiful this time around. The "story" is a little better than the other mario games. My only real critique is the implimentation of online multiplayer with friends. It doesn't really feel like you're playing a level together and more like you're just playing one at the same time. Still, an absoulutely wonderfull experience.
At it's core, I think starfield is a grwat gamw. I really liked the combat and the exploration and the way I played the game really made ot feel big (yes I walked back to the spaceship everytime, lauched into space, to another galaxy and then landed and also tried to avoid fast travel in general) and a lot of the planets are really interesting and diverse, tho most are just barren wasteland with random structures. The two thingsthat really didn't do it for me were the story (most of the missions felt like elaborate fetch quests) and the huge amount of loading screens. At firstI didnt really mindthe loading, but after about 20 hrs of gameplay they reallly became noticable. Overall I still enjoyed my time with it.
As somebody who already loved spider man 2018 and gave it a ten, this game obviously knocked it out of the park for me. It's the 2018 game, but improved in every aspect (aka the definition **** sequel).
This is an amazing game - yet I can't give it a 10. It might sound silly, but this game just didn't manage to recapture that feeling that exploring breath of the wilds map for the first time gave me. Some of the mechanics are just too janky and the reused parts of the map were just too big to overlook. Don't even get me started on the story and hoe ¼ of it just feels lile the same thing over and over and over and over again. It's still amazing nontheless tho and a must have for all switch owners.
I do not even know where to start with this game. This is the first game that actually made me cry, the story is truly one of my favorite stories ever told, not only in gaming - but in all media. Does it have issues? Yes, but every game has them. In my mind, any small issues it might have get a pass because of the Open world, the gameplay and of course the story. The open world of this game genuinly made me want to explore it, something only breath of the wild managed to do in recent years. The gameplay is the regular rockstar shooting as always, so excellent. This is a game that one should play at least once in their life - it's just sensational.
Phantom Liberty is definetely more Cyberpunk 2077. If you liked the base game - you will like this too. Especially with all the enhancements update 2.0 brings with it. Some decisions now actually have huge consequences (something the base game lacks). If you weren't a fan of the original, this won't change your mind tho.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a difficult to review game. It has one of the most beautiful cities in a game, at least in my opinion. The futuristic style, the neon lights, everything here appeals to me. The sidequests in this game are, again, some of the best that I have seen. I don't usually do side content, but here every quest felt as if it belonged to the main story. The designs of the cars are interesting and diverse (no flying cars tho sadly (I'll get to it)), same goes for the weapons. I also loved the cyberware system, which allows you to enhance your body (with claw arms or a double jump and alike). The story is fantastic. This is one of the few games that made me feel that "Man" (insert horse looking at sea meme) feeling that I think most people are looking for. Sadly, all of this points have a but attached to them. The city may be beautiful, but feels empty with not many npcs roaming the streets and driving cars. Speaking of which, the AI is one of the worst AIs I've seen in any AAA game to date. Enemies will sometimes just stop doing anything and don't even get me started on their driving AI. Still, it's good enough. To that you can also add a completely broken wanted system. The biggest flaw with this game right now isn't any of the mechanics or crashes (that too don't get me wrong), but something from the past. It's marketing. CD Projekt promised way too much that they couldn't deliver and may even be considered false advertising. With that said, I still loved the game and will continue playing, at least until I finished some of the biggest sidequests and got the stuff that I want. Hopefully the DLC will live up to the expectations.
I would recommend this to anyone who is getting a psvr 2. It's a brilliant showcase of the power of the psvr 2 combined with the ps5. Yes, there is a lot of climbing, but I enjoyed that part of the game and thought it was worth it for the breathtaking views you get. The combat is exhilarating but I did think there was a lack of weapon variety, especially compared to all the climbing tools you get. As a VR game this is a 9/10 for me, but as a horizon game it's more of a 4. But I think you shouldn't view this as a full fledged Horizon game and more like a beefy VR entry title.
It's a beautiful game with beautiful graphics and is the perfect bite-sized experience. The priece however is too much for a 2 hour game. Wait for a sale if you want it.
Fun game. Decent FPS with some nice movement mechanics. Of course a huge part of the game is the humor so if you don't like it then you won't like the game either.
I didn't want to review God of war ragnarok until I played all of it. I thought "I can't give it a 10 yet, maybe it will get worse as it goes on." I am so glad to have been wrong. Every time you think the game can't get any better it one ups itself. The story is, in my opinion, the best story in gaming since the last of us. The combat is fluid, fast-paced and, of course, gory. The sidequests that I have played are all as good as the main quests and tie in nicely. I am going to try my best to 100% this game, to see what it has left to offer. For now, this is the game of the generation
If you think this is "just tetris". You are greatly mistaken. The way the music, effects and sound design combine together is amazing and even has an Zen like effect. Unfortunately its a bit on the shorter side.
What a game. The open world is so stunning, I sometimes found myself just roaming around in it not really doing to much. My only issue- and this is more of a nitpick in a otherwise phenomenal game- the sidequests feel a bit repetitive to me and I couldn't be bothered to finish all of them.
I don't play a lot of racing sims, so for what was there I enjoyed. The fact that this game is online only means that it will be unavailable in a couple of years tho, so say goodbye to your seventy dollars. On the other hand, you probably won't be playing this entry again once the next entry comes out. The graphics are great. But it definitely bugs me that if you want an expensive car, you almost have to spend more money on the game because the grinding becomes unbearable.
A worthy follow-up to the first game. The story is a bit on the short side tho, and not too good at that. If you liked the 2018 game, you will definitely like this one and have a good time with it.
I have never played the prior games or the original games the collection is based on. But as soon as I started playing I couldn't put my controller down because the story had me hooked. I loved the combat and was amazed by the many different set pieces. If you have a Ps4/5 and haven't played it yet, I would very highly recommend it.
I liked this game more than I expected. As someone who did not enjoy the first game I was very positively surprised. The only issues I have with it are that I didn't want to actively explore the open world. I guess that it just didn't hook me like the worlds of Ghost of Tsushima or The legend of Zelda Breath of the wild did. Even when I unlocked an item that helped exploration greatly at the end of the game I still wasn't enticed. The combat and story are both very strong points and I'm interested where the next game will go.
Fun gameplay with interesting mechanics. Story was engaging. Powers spice up the gameplay even more for extra strategy. Especially fun with (or rather against) a friend.
Ghostwire does a couple of things right. The open world beautifully represents Tokyo for instance. The powers you get are cool in the beginning but the gameplay quickly becomes repetitive and tedious. The story is also very lacking in my opinion, and I didn't find any memorable sidequests.
(Disclaimer: this was my first tine playing the last of us) I cannot begin to describe what I have experienced in the last of us. This proves that video games are a form of storytelling, a form of art even. Beautiful moments can turn into tragedies in the span of 20 seconds. Many may say that the gameplay is outdated, but I enjoyed every second of it. It may not have a vast open world to explore or the gameplay of a modern game but it damn sure has the best writing and graphics I have ever seen. This deserves the title of best video game and sets new industry standards. In just 14 hours, this has become my favorite game of all time. I spent 70$ on this, and I would gladly do it again. If you haven't played it, I'm sorry for your loss. If you have played the game however, its hard to justify 70$.
