On the same level as the recent King Kong and Gollum disasters. Ranges from eye-cancer inducing UI, awful voice acting, bugs and glitches wherever you go, misplaced assets, and it generally being 99% asset flip.
To **** combat system, garbage enemy AI and animation and uninspired and rather non-existent level design.
Hot garbage. And no, this was not made by former Gothic devs. The 2 devs responsible for this, let's call it "Software', have not made Gothic 1 and 2, neither was the male part here, an important part during Gothic 3. Look what this is and you know what they have contributed to Gothic/Risen/Elex. The **** parts.
Now concentrated as a storm of diarrhea they call "indie game", for which they want 20 bucks. Absolute insanity. These 2 don't belong into the gaming industry. They are, most likely, the reason for the downfall of Piranha Bites. The best parts: Not even their ties to the German gaming journalism was able to bring them into a spotlight apart from a few announcements. Gamestar, best buddies, have given them 66/100 for this mess. Imagine that. How low can one fall.
In addition to that, their hardcore fan base wouldn't want to touch it either. 60 players peak on Steam. And it all wouldn't be so bad, who gives a crap, they made a **** game, right? Nah. They refuse to listen to critique. They did so during the Piranha Bites era. Well deserved I say. If someone were to offer me 10 bucks an hour to play this, I'd happily decline. What an absolute waste of time. Good riddance.

Bought it for 2 bucks on sale and still felt scammed. This game has one of the worst UI/UX I've seen in a game. Absolute garbage. After an hour I had to delete and request a refund for my 2 bucks.

Sweet Jesus. What a mess ****. Absolutely mind-blowing how dull and stupid this game is in some of its aspects. The dialogue is so lifeless, the voice acting, for not too few of them, abhorrently trash, the combat is uninspiring. Insane.

Free is always good. And this definitely worth a lot more than free. The fact that they released this out of nowhere without asking for money? Santa Monica Studio, you are amazing.

Bought it some months ago, but only really started playing lately. Even with all these updates (that I haven't really felt yet) the game is just dull. Characters are cardboard cut-outs. Voice-acting is meh. Animations and movements are laughable. Looks so stiff. For a game of this scope, proper motion cap would have been more appropriate. Gunplay is mediocre at best. UI/UX is totally fine, control overall is good. Also, 2005 called, it wants its driving gameplay back.
The atmosphere is there, the world is detailed and all. But even with all that it just isn't special. It is better than most games and if it was some small studio, this would be 8 easily, maybe even 9. But CDProjectRed isn't a small studio, and the price tag is high, plus they promised a lot of stuff they didn't deliver on release. Looking at this in regards to what CDPR had in mind, as their vision, this doesn't deliver fully. 7/10 isn't a bad game. It doesn't mean this game isn't recommendable. It still is a good game, it is still fun, but it does not deliver what I think it should do. It doesn't feel like, still, the completed vision.

Hard to say anything positive about this cash grab. Looking at the history of games done by the dev, who really thought this would be something worthwhile?
The legacy of tolkien is now becoming a bunch of trashware.

A lackluster and uninspired, not to say half-assed, assortment of various systems. There are just too many aspects insufficiently thought through and half-baked or which simply have no proper purpose in this game. Take the open world for example. What is the purpose of going from an Act-based story with distinct and closed levels, to an open world with a seamless transition from region to region? There simply is none, for the sake of fun. While it might seem it does, especially during the first few hours, the players quickly notices that the open world is just shallow in its current state with nothing to offer and no purpose to be fulfilled. World Events are the only things that could possibly justify the existence of the open world, if they weren't as boring and pointless as they are. The World Bosses are Loot Pinatas that you hit till it dies. Chances of an unsuccessful encounter are slim to nigh inexistant. Same with the Horde Event. It simply isn't suspenseful, nor difficult, nor challenging. It is just a random event you go to and absolutely meaningless. Hell Tides and Strongholds are somewhat better, but cannot compensate the lack of open world activities, with Strongholds being one-time only event with no further importance. You free them and you are done with it. No dynamics and no importance to story or world. Furthermore, the open world is empty of any other challenges that are not tied to times events. Monster density is low. It is actually so low that you'd be wasting time at any point at which you don't just ride hard to get to the next dungeon. Of course, Mounts and Skins are more prevalent in an Open World where one can randomly encounter other players. $$$. Why do I stress the point of open world this much? Because Blizzard made sure to advertise it with every opportunity. And it is simply not as good as they try to make it. Its existence is not justified and Diablo 4 would have been better off being a more classic approach to how story and areas are tied together. The Itemization lacks depth. Just like in D3, you stack Toughness and Damage as much as you can. There's barely any utility modifiers on items. It is a GearCheck game where your brain is simply not needed beyond thinking up a build (which the aren't many viable ones) or picking one from the dozen websites that offer 'the best farming build'. If you try to make an unconventional build you quickly realize how these attempts will falter easily. The good old Frenzy Barb? Has no place in this game. Because Frenzy is a Generator. And Generator are simply **** by design. They are not meant to be for the purpose of critically damaging the enemy. They are meant to generate buffs, like increased Toughness, or generate Resource, to use with Core Skills. Therefore, all items will be designed around Core Skills, in one way or another. The lack of total skills, not just core skills, also adds to the fact that there's simply not enough diversity when it comes to builds. Monster diversity is a fake. Yes, there are plenty of different enemies, but they feel the exact same way. Especially in higher levels one will not give two-****s about how to approach a new pack. You go in balls out and give it all you have, spam you Core and activate your ult and chances are high that the pack you've just encountered is dead. Skills that pixel-stack enemies also help. There's plenty more, like: - the music being generic, - the campaign/story being a drag, with missions/quests that are as boring as they could possibly be, - boring and repetitive collection of renown - PvP being a complete mess - social features consisting of utterly pathetic integrations, like the Clan feature that's just a second friendlist and nothing more, the chat being useless and already full of Gold sellers and RM traders and plenty more - the QoL not a priority, starting with a bag for Gems, which, as soon as you have 10 of each, you simply don't ever need to pick up again - scaling of monsters making leveling up and gaining "stronger" skills feel like nothing, unnoticable, whether you play on level 20 or on level 70, fights will feel the exact same and the difficulty will be indistinguishable, - the most boring crafting systems, barely an improvement to that of D3 - and so much more.... The only way that people really give this an 8+ is because they haven't played this game beyond the campaign or are simply so starved of ARPGs that they don't give a crap about it. Diablo 4 is the absolute minimum that could have been done, but it is praised by critics as the "holy grail of ARPG". 4/10, but giving it a 0/10 because of all the casuals that give it a 10 without even experiencing the endgame.

An insult to the original creator, an insult to the community and the fans, an insult to the legacy. Leaving behind a product, made for profit only, without a soul, several itterations and changes, complete overhauls. Promising features with the announcement, that are now dearly missed. All that is left is a shallow and tasteless puddle of mediocrity not even a thirsty stray cat wants to gulp from. Feel ashamed. For you are nothing more but a peripheral shadow in the sight of the devotee, whose eyes are searching tirelessly in hope for a passionate piece of art that he can immerse himself into. This here? Will never be that.

Resident Evil Village4

What a boring mess. Have gamers been in cryo-sleep the past 10 years? Why does this game get so much praise? A riddle much more difficult to answer than every riddle combined, that was presented in Resident Evil Village. Though, that was far from the worst aspect in this game. Puzzles never had a great difficulty in the Resident Evil franchise. They were, and are here, too, mere minigames. This game is absolute mediocrity. Performance issues 1 1/2 years after release. UI/UX that is straight from a nightmare, including settings for resolution that would apply it the moment you change it. So going from the default resolution to my screen resolution took more time than some of the boss fights. Whoever gave this his OK should quit his job. Some areas were an utter catastrophy. The enemies had no weight to them. It felt like Ethan was shooting at cardboard. The enemies lacked variation and multiple hitboxes. Resident Evil 4 and 5 did this marvelously. Enemy variety? There were like 5 types of enemies, not including minibosses (Sisters) or Bosses. There was barely a noticable difference to all of them. Ugh. What a wasted opportunity. They even started with the fantasy realm, vampires and werewolfs. The gunplay was ridiculous. Look what the original Dead Space did, over 10 years (?) ago. And look at this. Also, this game lacks any survival feeling. Especially that last part where one runs with close to infinite ammo through the village just shooting like a maniac... yeah. Zero horror. This isn't a horror game, nor a survival game. It is a pathetic conveyer belt shooter. The best part of this game is the castle, and that by a massive gap to the "next best" area. I wonder. I immediately start thinking if this might be on purpose. I mean, the detail and interactions that one encountered during the castle part were certainly well done, not so much for the rest. The castle was also the only playable part pre-release (and the very first few minutes), as well being the only area that was present in trailers in more detail. Must have been a massive money-saver to only focus one the castle for presentation purposes while ignoring the quality for the rest. Good management here, Capcom. Compare this game to true survival horror games, like Evil Within or the already mentioned Dead Space. It's leagues apart. Keep in mind, this is Capcom, which developed a new installment for one of the biggest IPs. It is an insult to gamers, yet they don't seem to care. Oh and of course, the biggest gripe: This game is/was full price, and yet it is only ~7 hours long, WITH exploration. What a joke. I'm glad I paid only 15 bucks for this.
