Avengers: Endgame6

Solid Marvel pic but too long. The movie is definitely fun and a “must see” if you’re even a mild Marvel fan. Yet, be warned there’s nothing new here and with all the hype I expected more. The first two thirds of the movie are really slow and the plot feels labored and stale. The last third of the movie is more interesting - yet, even there, the fights seem totally redundant. Although I enjoyed the movie, and would recommend it, I feel like this movie reinforces the idea that Marvel needs a fresh approach going forward. Also, I have to comment on the length of the movie, three hours with no intermission just doesn’t work. At least a third of the viewers in our theater had to get up and take a break during the screening... viewers of all ages by the way... so, I’d like to see either a shorter cut of the movie or an intermission built in... its very distracting when people are moving in/out of the theater.

Cliche from beginning to end. Story is downright dull as the plot is one big one big chase scene albeit set to music. In my opinion, there's absolutely no chemistry between the main two characters and the two main characters are stiff and boring to watch. Chase scenes are not original or unique - been there. The big stars (Jon Hamm and Jamie Fox, in particular) make this show somewhat watchable (but barely). Wait and rent.

Terrific movie from start to finish. Consistently excellent casting, acting, plot, costumes, set decoration, etc. Gal Gadot is great and Chris Pine perfect for the role - together they make movie magic. The movie is action-packed yet doesn't take itself too seriously. The humor is done with a light touch and is great! Go see this movie. You will not be disappointed. The audience in my theater clapped at the end!

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales4

This movie is a disappointment. The final act is an improvement over the first two acts so I think that's influencing the ratings. However, taken as a whole, IMHO, this movie is bad. The first act is actually pretty terrible. The plot is dumb and the humor is over-the-top slapstick type humor. No one in our movie theater even laughed and it was a packed theater. Not good. The plot gets better as the movie goes on. However, you have to sit through a lot of nonsense to get to that portion of the movie. The movie feels very long. This one's a dud; don't waste your money.

I loved this movie! I don't know what movie the critics are watching - this is a fun and creative adventure. They are not giving this movie it's due. Go enjoy it! Having read and enjoyed the books, I was a little uneasy that the film would not live up to my expectations. I could not have been more wrong. Tim Burton's vision (although not always mirroring my imaginings) were wonderful! Eva Green and Samuel Jackson are particularly well cast. The visuals are stunning and the special effects are artfully done. The plot is just right to explain the unique aspects of the peculiar’s amazing world yet to move the story along. I attended the movie with a friends who had not read the books and they loved this movie as well. The first book in Ransom Riggs’ series sets up the more action-packed second and third novels. The same is true of this movie. I, for one, am hopeful for the sequels!

A very imaginative and interesting movie but, in my opinion, its not a "10." As others have said, some of the other Pixar movies are overall better movies - Toy Story, UP, Finding Nemo - to name a few... In this movie, the plot loses its way in the middle and end; and, some of the characters are not as well-developed as I would have hoped... Also, some of the movie may be too complicated for kids to easily follow and thus could get somewhat frustrated by the show. Still don't miss this - the approach and creativity is wonderful and worth seeing.

Mad Max: Fury Road6

There's a lot of hype surrounding this movie. I thought it was visually interesting but a little boring and long. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to see it. Extremely unrealistic fight scenes - what's with the cirque characters interjected into chase scenes? Just weird.

Absolutely loved this movie! My husband also raved about the show even though he was ambivalent (at best) going in. The story is sweet. And, the costumes and movie sets are amazing. Every actor is perfectly cast and the special effects are seamless. The only complaint is that with the previews and the Frozen short and the movie, the experience runs a little long for the little ones, so they start to get a bit antsy at the end. Yet, it is a wonderful, relaxing, romantic movie - what's not to love???

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes1

After reading the critical reviews, we were expecting a good movie. Not so! Do not waste your money. The plot is sophomoric and slow. Even for a remake, the plot is predictable. The technologically creating the apes is improving but they still are quite unbelievable. The action sequences are visually interesting but since the plot is so bad a viewer doesn't care who prevails. Skip this one!

This Is the End6

This movie is not for everyone and it could offend some. I strongly do not believe this is a movie appropriate for children aged 8 to 12 (or younger). There is a lot of violence, sexual references, language, etc. Now, having said that, it is very funny in places and highly creative. It is not a main street type movie so be prepared that it is a little odd that's what makes it watchable. The cast is wonderful, relaxed and engaging. If you've seen Seth's work before, you know his general type of film. This film continues in his general genre but with even more enthusiasm and authenticness. it's like all the constraints are gone. If you're ready for something a little unusual are not offended easily I suspect you will enjoy this movie. Have fun!

Although this movie is not offensive in any way; it is simply bad. From the stage decoration to the costumes to the plot and the characters there's not a lot to recommend it. I know folks are trying to be gentle on Will Smith and his young son they seem like nice people. However, the son was not ready to hold this movie. He is really pretty terrible in this. I wish him all the luck in future endeavors. Do not waste your money or time.

Bad. Do not go... My husband and I were totally misled by the critics reviews. We generally enjoy insightful and intelligent films; we do not need things to explode and to view a series of chase scenes to find a film rewarding. We were both tremendously disappointed in this film. It is slow, convoluted, and just down right boring. I kept watching waiting to see what the critics saw and did not understand the ratings whatsoever. Generally, if you see a film with high ratings you at least "get" why it was rated that way. Not this one! It is bad. Do not go.
