My first game lasted for a couple of hours, i applied myself to take no hits, to craft, had some decent stuff, spells, shield etc.. then each one after i lost more and more patience until i uninstalled. There is practically no progression, nor roguelike nor souls, you get to keep very little gear between runs and only one item per stack (so no materials, no coins, no throwables), there's no xp, basically no real interest to keep playing. The game has some style, but ultimately the difficulty is based on gameplay misery, like so many cr@ppy soulslikes. Avoid
Remastered for xbox one, so graphics are largely subpar for xbox series. Dark, washed colours, no lighting. Gameplay still holds but with those graphics it's tough to get some immersion. Avoid, maybe on PC it's better
Idea and graphics are ok, but gamedesign is zero. The major problem is that there are no permanent upgrades for mining, which is 80% of the gameplay (moving around with RT pressed, zero fun). Which makes the roguelike 'loops' extremely slow and boring. There are a lot of other problems but it's pointless to enumerate them. Waste of time, avoid
Starts nicely, for a minute i believed, with tough monsters that you can take 1vs1 or 1vs2 and coherent design, like DS or Bloodborne.. but quickly gets back to zero effort zero talent design, just generic textures filled with 10-30 monsters able to oneshot the player, pulling infinite combos, or knocking him back half a click. Shields, armors, builds are useless. And same as Elden Ring, an open world 99% empty. Forget the massive marketing and fake comments, this is pure cr@p. Check the achievements before buying, most people just bought it and uninstalled it. Just another inflated modern scam
I had fun with a couple of this type of games, specifically those having an endless mode. This one doesn't, it's designed to always keep you in the same 10minutes loop, constantly running from several swarms and picking up what you can. Game is cute, but i fail to see the point doing the same 10minutes gameplay loop over and over and over to get upgrades and go to the next level to do the exact same thing all over. One finger gameplay, totally nobrainer.. No coop either
Fake 10/10 reviews, -5. The game seems good at first, there's xp, equipment, skills etc. But after a while xp required to level up becomes huge, so no farming really possible. Equipment is progression locked, and some awful platforming sequences start popping up. But mostly, when dying all progression since last save is lost, and savepoints are VERY far apart. On top of that, there are a lot of instakill surprise 'events'. So yeah, it feels like the cr@ppy old platformers insanely hard because done with the arse. Nobody misses those, and nobody really wants to lose hours of gameplay on scripted deaths. There's some very bad understanding of the gaming market there. To be avoided
They had a golden concept with the first State of Decay for a while, obviously by accident. Zombie open world, looting, base building, some rpg elements, freedom. Unfortunately in time instead of going towards a fully customizable sandbox, they went the opposite way. The second being the absolute proof. There is even less freedom than in the first, bases never let you build what you want, there are less lootable buildings, rpg progression is even less controllable, and on top of that the player is constantly, horribly spammed and distracted with timed shinies to do. Overall making it a cr@ppy gaming experience. Imho to be played only on PC with mods giving some real freedom
I tested the save a few times before playing, coz everybody on xboxstore was complaining, seems to work ok. It's a soulsvania (with a difficulty setting), xp, builds (mostly stat-increasing, nothing fancy unfortunately). Nice solid game though. Salt and Sanctuary still better but this one looks nicer. ***I'm lowering the grade because the passages in the 'other world' are absolute cr@p. You need to jump on disappearing platforms that you can't even see with that zoom level. And it gets worse and worse until the worst idea i've seen in a video game, playing heads down. There had to be some idiocy from the devs, i was having fun for once***
I had good memories of those games but they're by far among the worst Castlevanias. First, the port is bad. You're forced to play xith the map occupying half of the screen. Second, **** poor, short and linear. And this is complemented with artificial difficulty to bloat playtime, like the bad soulslikes before their time. Dawn of Sorrow has a terrible soul droprate, even with the ring and boosted luck you need to kill hundreds for ONE soul, and you can stack up to 9. Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia are just difficult beyond reason. Essentially you're forced to farm for days just to play them. That's.. an big nono. Not to mention Order of Ecclesia introduces weaknesss, meaning you have to hit each monster with specific 'weapons' otherwse you inflict no damage. Ofc it's completely undesigned for that purpose, you got rooms with a dozen monsters converging on you, each weak to something different. Those are poor games quickly made for Nintendo, don't waste your time
Action-rpg 2D. Pretty enjoyable overall, despite a lot of flaws and.. well, not being finished. The rush to cash in is strong unfortunately and stays strong despite sinking so many indies. The game has xp, a skill tree, combos, skill combos, upgradeable equipment. The flaws would be the poverty of equipment/builds, the general clunkiness, the lack of a block or parry, and some very lousy design choices, like the traps everywhere that slow down an already slow gameplay, or the enemies passing and shooting through walls. Anyway, better than 90% of the 2d games out there, a must try
The worst type of game, the one that seems good at first then unveils its cr@piness only midgame, wasting player's time (and money). There are a million monsters you can collect, each one with a million skills that you're forced to read. At first sight it seems that the game is very rich in possible synergetic builds. Well.. it is, but it's useless. All this is a waste of time, there's actually no freedom whatsoever . The monsters u face are more and more resistent to everything except one element, so no point in fancy builds, what u need is a team hitting with all the elements and heavy on support. That's about a dozen monsters and a very unsatisfying gameplay, the rest is just a finger to players. Well, the whole design is, actually. And don't expect any qol mechanics. Prolly one of those many Kickstarter scams. If u dare play it, do urself a favor, follow some internet guides and avoid reading all the skills ingame
The usual Obsidian game, very uneven. And this will be my last Obsidian, i definitely prefer farming, builds and weapon variety to reading thousands of pages of stuff. There is a lot of effort put into characters, expressions, dialogues, quest complexity. Unfortunately that immersion potential is ruined by a very basic gameplay and worldbuilding. And some idiotic flaws, like the guns feeling and sounding like Nerf, or complete absence of a flashlight in this space/future. Though there is a day/night cycle and a lot of pitch black areas. I mean wtf were they thinking. Play it if u prefer story over gameplay. Personally i'd rather have gameplay if not both
Cute game, but twice the price it should be (outside the game pass). I always have a particular kind of love for greedy indie devs. Especially since they don't really master the unreal engine. I mean one could say that the poor graphics are an hommage to Half-life, but seeing the heavy toll on the console one can also wonder if there really was a choice there. It takes a lot of work and skill to optimize games under unreal, and that isn't there. But the rush to cash in is.. Another very negative point, the portals spawning inside bases.. wtf is that really, what's the point of base defenses then (especially ones that hurt players..). Here too, the supporter pack (more $$$) offers a 'homeworld' without those attacks. The rest is just messy, inexistent AI, tons of enemies, bullets passing through walls, underpowered character, undesigned, lack of qol mechanics and items. Uncooked atm. All depends if they keep working on the game frankly. To be followed
Got the complete edition for a very low price and it was worth it. A part of the game is done with love. The characters, the gestures, postures, phrases. Each character has unique skills so you can do a lot of builds. Well, around the TWO tanks, Worf and Odo. The 90 others are there to hold the candle :p Unfortunately it's a mobile game port. They removed the microtransactions but not the slow progression and the difficulty meant to frustrate into buying packs. Still lots of fun for warned trekkies
Had it on ps4, didn't like it, bought it again on xbox.. idk what i expected. -10 if i could. The game is half good, half very bad, clearly the hype is bought. And fake reviews here. Don't take anybody's word for it, check the achievements. Only 20% of the players finished the game (once). Don't get into the 80% patsies. Dark souls 1 and Bloodborne, those were 100% amazing. So, the flaws.: graphics aren't impressive, shades of gray everywhere, perspective is bad. The open world is completely failed, it's a huge confusing world 99% empty, with 99% useless loot. It's nearly impossible to find anything without consulting the wiki. The rare zones of interest are packed with enemies, u have dozens crammed together, which is the quality of bad soulslikes, combats are just messy, no skill or fun involved. And each 'biome' has different levels of enemies, so u're not really free to go wherever. The AI is inexistent, enemies are just agressivity.. they often get stuck pulling their infinite combos into some rock or barrier, unable to make a sidestep. And their actions are linked to ur controller input. Hit attack, they dodge. Hit potion, they jump you. The builds are the poorest in the whole series, no more special effects on the armour pieces, no sets.. only weapons and accessories, and the good ones are under the dozen. Xp progression is extremely slow, u're constantly underpowered. Frankly generally speaking there's no 'feel' of combats and no real immersion. just undesigned, annoying and boring The worst soulsborne, if not the worst soulslike. Save ur money, play the others
First of all i'm not a fan of the economic model. Over half of the gamepass games put their vanillas in to sell you a bunch of dlc. This one has 4 of those, never on sale, no season pass, no bundles, totalling the price of a day one AAA game. Get real, indie devs. Second point, the game seems rich at first sight, but actually it doesn't deliver the most basic rpg gameplay. Upkeep is high, rewards low, xp slow and levelup poor, shops don't sell equipment, you have to equip your team with the very poor random loot from fights. Professions have some lousy minigames attached.. And unbalanced, you jump from famished 2-3 bandits fights, killeable in 2 hits, into 7-8 boars fights killeable in 10 hits, dozen steps away, or groups of unkillable bears (20+ hits). Or.. **** fighting 7 guys (a mission), the game drops in 6 more as reinforcements. then 9 more.. Because f players, they're only cashcows buying dlcs. A game severely undercooked, don't waste your time
Fallen Order was pretry well designed, everything was fun. And frankly i thought they had to rush it out halfbaked, because Disney took over. That's because of all the useless cosmetics. But i was wrong, this one confirms it. 95% of ingame items are cosmetics. They even added merchants... with cosmetics. Combat is ruined, enemies are placed in groups with 1-3 guys that can block lightsabers and can kb, stagger, with 3-4 hits combos. On top of that there is no real character evolution, no builds, you can only unblock new hits, but put on weird button combinations. So wait you hit X rwice, then long press RT then LB and X then RB and Y then long press Y.. yeah right. FU. But the worst is that the whole game is just a series of corridors with interminable platforming/parkour. Not really an open world, not an rpg, no freedom, no challenge, no fun (sure, you can teleport in between corridors). Impossible not to get fed up after a few hours. Undesigned and boring cr@p.
I don't understand how these games can be loved.. First, crashes over crashes. Can't activate any of the cosmetics or boost mods pack, crashes on launch. The gameplay.. pathetic. Not enough skill points to do good builds, not possible to upgrade weapons to your level, basically spending half the gameplay time into the inventory changing and sorting loot. Ive seen 16bit rpg with more depth. Idk, whatever. I'm not first-daying the 4th that's for sure
Prolly worth a 10 on pc. Game looks simple, but has quite an unsuspected depth, emotional, political. Problem is visibility on handheld devices, some 'puzzles' are really too vicious, like a letter changed (a/o to o/a, very hard to see with that font), or some faces just slightly thinner than the photo. Practically impossible to see on a phone, and very hard on a pad
Surprisingly good for the poor looks, there's xp, town building, recruiting a team with limited 'programming', a lot of equipment, rng everywhere. A LOT of grinding. Lacks a lot of qol tweaks though (like keeping a button pressed instead of hitting it hundreds of times, miners coming back automatically when they've deoleted an area, putting markers on the map etc). But mostly there are some very annoying puzzles, stuff that u need to write down like 30y ago, precision platforming, moving platforms etc On a very poor moveset (short jump and dash). Character doesn't move with the moving platforms for instance, just stays in the air then falls. I did about half of the map then i gave up after leaving one too many puzzles behind (with no idea where since there's nothing to mark them). That's really asking too much on this broke gameplay, i'm not wasting my time on antifun stuff
Ok-ish game. No xp, a dodge that allows to go through enemies only when they hit, a tortured system to retrieve powers (u have to kill a certain number of unique enemies, meaning tespawning them at save doesn't work, otherwise u get the power only on the screen u're in). Graphics meh, general gameplay feel meh. Another barebone metroidvania among hundreds while we still wait for a SOTN successor
Unfortunately the game is just not really good at its core. The classes are uninteresting, the weapons, equipment, builds are extremely basic. It's less complex than any Arpg from the last 15y. On top of that the enemies scale to player's level (the option in gamesettings to remove it just doesn't work)l, so it's a constant struggle until level cap (30, a couple of days of mashing one button). From there it's supposed to enter the 'endgame' but there isn't much content. It was supposed to be a freetoplay mmo with predatorial microtransactions, didn't work out so they patched an Arpg with it to grab some money. It's highly unlikely that more content will be added. Overall.. just not worth playing, too barebone
Same as it's been said, it would deserve a 5, but not with so many people applauding poverty of gameplay sold as challenge provided it strokes their egos. Scientific name being patsies. The gameplay is ok, but only halfway there. There's no xp, a parry/no block, a limited dashdodge with no iframe (and going through enemies only when they initiate a hit), very limited builds. And ofc the scourge of these games, hitting 5-10 times each enemy, which is always an instant bore for me. The art is nice, but gameplay comes first. Get Salt and Sanctuary instead
I don't understand how peeps can like this game. Or it's just marketing and fake reviews ^^ Any good game from the 16bit era is far better. For starters, there are a lot of cutscenes and talking. It's impossible to bear not skipping all. Personnally i don't play games to be forced to read War and Peace with adnotations. Second, the combat is stupid, u always have groups of enemies, EACH one weak to something different. Each combat is a 5mins chore. The worst idea for an rpg where u need to farm. And about that, the game starts u too underpowered.. Each enemy 3-shots ur character, combats give 5 gold when u need about 10k to buy equipment.. shortly put u need to farm a whole day before making it playable. Talking about artificially prolonging the game lame and lazy. Anyway... huge turd, go get FF6, Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire 2 etc. Even Kemco games r more fun
I'm not a fan of 10/10 fake comments. Automatic 0. The game is a bad Subnautica-like, with gamebreaking humor, gamebreaking bugs, space physics not respected, and simply poorly designed. I mean a lot of the essential blueprints are far, FAR out of reach, or thoroughly hidden. You need to KNOW where they are to make the trip, don't expect to find anything exploring randomly in range of oxygen points. Basebuilding is absolute cr@p, and u don't even retrieve the materials when dismantling (coz why make it fun right). So what half the play time is watching YT videos.. Or go get the ZAZ blueprints and build it asap (so again, 2hours of yt videos.., coz u need the modules and the materials too) Really, a game only for Sunbnautica fans desperate for something vaguely feeling alike
-10 if i could.. :) There are some loveable features, xo, upgrading, unfortunately there are also deep lazy design flaws. For starters the button combinations for the most used features.. with buttons not used elsewhere and at least 3 unused buttons on the controller. Just because ..I.. Then the nerfed gameplay to add some difficulty into an otherwise very poor game: One crew short, meaning the player is forced to move around a crewmember 6-8 times per mission. Enemies by the dozen, on weak weapons. Extremely slow progression. But mostly, whatever the weapon, even on maxed gunners, 9/10 hits miss. Antifun and timeconsuming for nothing. It's just a big finger to the players instead of working on the game. Stop at Bomber Crew, this one is cr@p.
Isn't SO bad, but, well, not as awesome as Subnautica. Smaller and flatter map, they reshuffled material balance, added some ground 'adventures' that u'll do once and forget about it. What's the point of the snowfox since there are large ion cubes deposits on the ground so u need the prawn ... :/ No stasis rifle, no cyclops, no hull reinforcement for the vehicles. U ain't supposed to hunt down Leviathans no more. ..I.. devs. Drill/grapple takes a really long time. That shouldve been a dlc to get the QOL improvements on Subnautica. And some poorly designed recipes forcing u to make suicide runs in the depths to grab a couple of materials (diamond, magnetite, needed for the scanner and depth upgrades). Dumb. No big deposits of magnetite and lithium, leviathans still making noises while dead, unretrievable materials spawned into walls, crashes etc A game to get money that's all. Talent in service of players didn't last long :/
Amazing game, always delivers. On xbox series the teleporters are useable AT LAST, on the previous gen the loading times were just too long. With the latest updates stuff doesn't respawn, including Leviathans. Worth a new game to hunt those things ^^. Freedom, challenge, farming.. just awesome
Has some good intentions, the base game isn't bad. Souls progression, plus a skill tree unblocked with special items to be searched for, equipment, weapons. Unfortunately there's some clumsy platforming that just doesn't work with the poor controls, zoom level and poor graphics. As soon as the mushroom level, it becomes pretty much unplayable. A pity, there are a lot of metroidvanias not providing the basic gameplay this game has. But well, it's all platforms to grab some money so no doubt why it was made and not perfected. To be avoided
Cute metroidvania effort. I give it a five for the SOTN references, and because there are so many metroidvaniscams barely playable. Unfortunately there are also very bad mechanics piling up, collision damage + interrupt + KB, no dodge roll, tedious platforming (the 'chainup 50 jumps without missing a single'one type) on some pretty clumsy controls. Sure, it feels like SOTN. Why copy the bad mechanics and not the flying or the awesome weapons.. uhuh. Not very solid overall, but playable
Imo Techland think they're a big thing but they actually lost their ability to design games somewhere between Dead Island and Riptide. I mean Dead Island is a coherent game, there is a large no respawn area around the player, allowing to clean a zone and explore, also the zombies make 'attack' noises, and the virals scream all the way.. the player knows when there's a Z nearby. All that disappeared starting with riptide (Z's respawning on the player indefinitely and approaching in silence) and still present in DL2. The game is rich enough to be playable, but there are also major design flaws, idiotic garage-game level flaws. Everything despawns/respawns 30m away, the world is overcrowded, something spawning constantly around the player. U can't make 10m without getting into some raiders or big **** mentioning a lot of actions on the same buttons, some going against intuitivity. Like dodge and jump on the same button, or 'survivor sense' and zoom/aim.. Also instead of simple button assignement, like hit, kick, jump, dodge etc u have those multiple actions on the same buttons, plus combinations, plus situational combinations, multiple press, long press etc.. A senseless mess. Special mention for Z and raiders peacefully standing next to each other when u look from a distance. All that is extremely gamebreaking and messy, and controls not doing what u want half the time will quckly erode the fun. It can be ignored, but it takes a lot of work. And frankly it shows constantly how amateurish are the devs. They really need to water down their narcissism and hire competent gamedesigners
Personally i loved the first one, it's a cute solid kart game. Skipped the second, got this one on sale. Not sure why they keep pouring kart games at this rate. Anyway, runs fine but feels awful. Too complicated, too many things happening, too flashy.. meh. It's just a kart game, chill ffs
Had it on ps4, bought it again on xbox. It's a solid little soulike, well designed, combat is good. It doesn't take much after all, a little bit of talent. The second is also a good metroidvania. Combat moveset is complete, but there isn't much game to be played, except for farming to balance the artificial difficulty off the roof
Edit: NG+ is a joke, enemies are harder, extra traps everywhere, for THE SAME XP. The point being ?
A zero effort game, gameplay is retroer than retro, no dodge, no running, one unidirectional short hit, one weapon. Levels capped at 6 in attack, life, mana. There were more gameplay options in the good 8-bit games, coz nobody is nostalgic about the cr@p. Just a multiplatform minimal effort scam, with probably a lot of fake good teviews. Avoid
2.5D action rpg, not metroidvania. Everything is fine, there is levelling up, upgrading, melee, ranged, special powers, equipment. Gameplay is decent. Unfortunately it's just too dark. Literally, u can't see anything most of the time. Not seeing anything gets tedious real fast, no matter how good the gameplay **** gets (slightly) better past the beginning.though
Well i was searching for a metroidvania, and that's not it. The game is extremely atypical, not sure it will find an audience. There's no level up (that coz i saw levels on the screenshots and i bought it). U can level up a cappd amount per area so basically it's linear. I don't even know what those levels are put in for. Otherwise it's a sort of 2D action/adventure, with a lot of dialogues, very beautiful, nice music, u have stuff happening, u can search all over for gold and ingredients, the combat is good but.. well, boring for a metroidvania veteran
I'm really tired of Bethesda games. Unplayable without mods, the good gets better, the bad gets worse with each game. They need to hire some gamedesign peeps/or simply devs more connected to players, like Obsidian (Fallout new vegas). Here they nailed the open world part, the game is huge, a ton of quests, things to do. Graphics are good, physics are basic, but very good (bullet impacts on enemies, good AI, good space combat etc). On the other hand the inventory management is worse than ever, u're filled every dozen steps, a lot of junk items (and unlike Fallout 4, those are completely useless and can't be ditched in a click). And there is no junk removal mod on xbox.. There are autoloot, instasummoning vendor, inventory mgmt and weight mods though. Praised be the modders. The skill system is also worse than ever, they really need to get back to the classic simple stat increase. Space.. they took space combat from space games but without the physical travel or the economy. U can't travel between planets, or enter atmospheres, or simply fly around, it all happens clicking through several menus with loading screens everywhere. So overall.. idk, not coherent, not immersive. U get kicked out of the immersion every couple of minutes by half baked ideas. And spending several days balancing mods before playing on each bethesda game is really antifun. Any coherent game, the mass effects, no man's sky, borderlands etc is a lot more fun to play, even if those are 10 times poorer in content
I give it a 7 coz it's in the gamepass, and Obsidian are pretty good, though i'm not a fan of the nonsensical choices they force on the players. in all of their games. But Avowed is (very) far from being finished. It still needs A LOT of polishing and balancing. I hope they keep working on it. Or at least fix it with dlc. I'd recommend... waiting half a dozen months before playing it, eventually get it on sale with dlcs.
I would commend the bold choices if i didn't have to pay for the game. But frankly i'm tired of wasting money on antifun cr@p. The game pretends to offer a sort of realistic rpg experience, starting as a peasant kid and working ur way up the whatever holy roman empire. Nice on paper, safe for over a dozen hours u do chores and can't fight for shyt. Yet the game forces u into unwinnable fights. If u're into that kind of masochistical rags to riches trip go for it. If u want to have fun in a videogame though avoid this turd
Those dinosaurs used to pour mediocre games and buy themselves critics, fake reviews and streamers really need to disappear. Bought the gold version, didn't last 20mins. Everything is just awful, graphics (shades of gray), physics (no traces of weapon impacts, enemies resistent to headshots etc), design, world (cheap jumpscares, stupid things happening). Bad action, bad horror, overall just ridiculous.. Just... stop making games, capcom..
A Kingdom 2 crowns-like, with local coop. Some different mechanics, might seem better than some K2C dlcs. Problem is it's unplayable solo, enemies attack from both sides in multiple waves. It NEEDS 2 players.
It gets pretry fun in a dumb brainless way if u get past the nausea of swimming in brown/yellow sewer waters. Still, it wouldvebeen a much better game to roam the ocean freely, with nice graphics and a lot of fishes and things to explore. But it isn't. Worth a few hours if u have the gamepass
I can understand it gets good reviews, it's playable, fluid, those poor graphics actually work. BUT there's no level up. U can upgrade the stuff a bit and get some stat increase progressing into the game. There is no point copying Dark Souls if u change the balance removing more than half of the gameplay options. Or it needs rebalancing to match the poverty and the bugs. In this state it's just constantly annoying. II see no reason to settle for a Wish version of Dark Souls. If u have one, go for it
I shouldntve tried to replay the first Dark souls games, i just ruined my good memories of them. I guess magic just doesn't work anymore after playing more modern games. The first is still solid, but the 'remastered' version is a complete fail, graphics are much worse. And playing the second just after the first underlines the severe drop in gameplay quality.. Ds2 has a lot of equipment and builds but the combat is a buggy shytshow. Not to mention that it has all the qualities of the modern 'bad' soulslike, enemies chaining infinite and unstaggerable combos just poured by the bucket into cr@pdesigned levels. There is no challenge or skill involved, just button mashing hoping to kill the army in front before they kill u. Unplayable today :/
Had thousands of hours on this game back then. The remaster was on sale on a lonely weekend so i got scammed buying it. Coz that's its only purpose, scamming some curious players. Coz why letting them try the xbox360 version for a couple bucks when they can get much more right ?The textures are simply awful, and they added a sort of lighting zone around the player only u can't see anything out of that area. Go f urselves From Software and Bandai Namco for ruining the best game ever. And shove those fake reviews in the same places
It's really weird it got some good reviews, and those are not fake. I guess it drives to some reflecting on the eternal difference between hardcore and casual gamers and their relation to soulsborne games and alike ^^ I mean for starters the game is glitched af, it's not even outtable. Impossible to not see it. Or unsee it ^^ Just walking around the enemies makes them freeze. Or fly, or passing through walls. Sometimes they're dead but still fighting, until they realize they're dead and they walk away burning and disappearing. Weapons animations don't match the hitboxes, and so on and so forth.. there's a glitch every few minutes. Added to that the leveldesign is cr@p, narrow passages with deadly falls or some hazard on the ground, with DOZENS of enemies crammed together, each having range and combo attacks. U can't block, u can't dodge (nullified by the terrain), even the dismembering animations can lead u over the edge and kill u. And the graphics and lighting are awful. I loved The Surge and Lords of the Fallen (2014) but the talent is obviously gone. Or they had some passive-agressive childish reaction to their first games not getting the recognition they deserved. Not fun, avoid
Loved it on ps4, still love it on xbox. Imho better than the new Surge 2 and Lords of the fallen. The game has a nice story and its own unique balance. But i understand it got trashed, the artificial difficulty in new game is off the roof, the richness starts to unlock only after Black Cerberus boss. They watered it down with the dlcs but u still cry blood at the beginning. But afterwards u can do whatever u want with the implants, increase dps, xp gain, hp, etc And dps increases just killing enemies.. awesome. It's a bit similar to Nioh 2 (and partly the soulsbornes), which i also loved, in the sense that u can't finish it in a day, but u can play it for months. Each playthrough gets better (except u can't increase the defense ^^). Then again for the end build u're forced on one build, black cerberus armorset with a lot of hp and injectables. It wouldve been better to have total freedom to play as u want, like in the soulsbornes, but it works for me as it is. Since the price is very low i'd say give it a try..
Not sure what's with the fuss about this game. My daughter went 'Yay it's on xbox' and made me buy it though it doesn't have local coop. She seemed to enjoy it a couple of hours. Since it's in the same niche as the amazing Subnauticas or even Breathedge i tried it. Hit a wall in under 10mins. Went in the water to pick cr@p, raft started to go away, jumped back on. Picked some cr@p, made a rope, tried to attach myself to the raft, not possible. Went in the water to pick some cr@p, this time the raft went awaaaaaay at rocket speed. Coz the currents only affect rafts and not bodies, it is well known. Ok np my raft was 4 tiles, i'll build another. Not possible. Swam to a nearby island, tried to build stuff. Not possible. Amazing sandbox game really. I felt the freedom and the quality right there on the spot. Sure i'll try again and change the rating if it gets better np
EDIT: Nope it's a cr@ppy little game. Ugly yet no local coop, biology isnt right (character needs to eat a dozen fishes per day), physics isnt right (raft goes where it wants even with sails), crafting costs are astronomical. U come from Subnautica to this u cry. Save ur money and let the devs find real jobs
Yup i still like this one better than the 'new' one. Ofc it's outdated now, felt much better jumping in it from the first DS. Combat is worse than DS but there are subtle changes in balance that kinda make up for it. For instance u can clean enemies one by one in new areas going back to save points, builds are decent, there are items to recall the 'mark', farming is pretty easy if u walk around a couple of hours with a 2.5 modifier, and armors are actually useful. Some have nice set bonuses. Basically.. freedom to play how u want, and that is closer to DS spirit than the new one
