Biomorph is a classic metroidvania-style game that doesn’t break any known genre rules. However, the morphing mechanics enhance and add variance to the gameplay loop, whether you’re exploring or fighting enemies. A future Metroidvania Hall of Famer, if you ask me.

Biomorph may not be the soulslike it was perceived to be, but it set itself apart by impressing me with its transformational mechanics, strong customizable kit and riveting sci-fi story. Like the name suggests, you can morph into your enemies gaining a new and unique moveset. It is exponentially satisfying to utilize these monster’s abilities to traverse to new areas and find secrets. The serious tone of the story has tones of lightheartedness and lore that was given the care it deserved. Biomorph is an enjoyable metroidvania with many unique qualities that I wholeheartedly recommend.

A Metroidvania game that brings back fond memories of Hollow Knight! A game with a great soundtrack, gameplay that involves absorbing enemies to overcome certain obstacles, good side quests, and more.
I was quite satisfied with the hours I spent playing this game.

I love Metroidvania games, the old, classics, and the new.
This game is an S tier Metroidvania game, I cannot believe it is currently sitting on 73 critics and 7.6 players on Metacritic. Also under 400 review on Steam as of early August 2024. It is crazy. This has to b THE most underrated MV atm. Here is my top 10 (MODERN) MVs
1. Hollow Knight
**** Will of the Wisps 3.Prince of Persia the Lost Crown
4.Nine Sols
5.Biomorph
6.Ender Lilies
7. Blasphemous 1 and 2 8. Metroid Dread
9. Animal Well 10. Steam World Dig 2

On one hand, Biomorph is a great addition to the Metroidvania genre that gets by with great combat and a huge world that boasts some clever-level design along with rewarding town-restoration mechanics. Despite that, I couldn’t help but come away feeling as though it was somewhat of a missed opportunity. The core mechanic of morphing into enemy forms is a wonderfully novel take on Metroidvania progression, so it’s a real shame that this novelty is devalued by a lack of incentive to revisit forms once you’ve exited the biome they’re initially found in. On the whole, though, if you’re craving a well-designed Metroidvania that nails the fundamentals while at least attempting to put its own spin on the genre, Biomorph is an easy recommendation.

Lucid Dreams Studio's Biomorph is a solid Metroidvania that should definitely scratch the itch for any fan craving more from the genre, and with a neat Kirby gimmick to boot. Its strong platforming and level design elevate Biomorph's otherwise straightforward approach to the genre, while its main issues mostly come from a desire to see the game do more with its concepts. Despite some lacking elements that do take away from the overall experience, there is nothing here that stops Biomorph from being an easy recommendation in a genre already filled with great releases.

Biomorph offers a visually appealing aesthetic with strong character design, but its narrative falls flat and its soundtrack lacks originality. Despite solid gameplay mechanics, including an interesting enemy transformation feature, the game struggles with repetitive level design and contradictory gameplay elements. Biomorph may appeal to hardcore fans of the metroidvania genre, but it fails to fully capitalize on its potential.

I wanted to like Biomorph more than I did. Despite good visuals and a strong start, it eventually neglects its most interesting mechanic and becomes tedious. In the end, despite its best efforts, it ends up being just an average attempt at an already crowded genre.

BIOMORPH itself sometimes seems like a goop of cyborg dogs and ghostly farmers: cool ideas stitched together, lumbering about in search of more purpose than “find and reactivate four generators.”

Great game. A 2024 version of Aria of Sorrow that replaces stylus gimmicks with body transfer. Perfect to wait for Silksong

This game is ok. It has some cool gameplay elements. Art and music are decent. But there are some really annoying bugs. If you love platformers and this game is on sale, it's worth playing.
